Caliber Collision

Caliber Collision did a great job on my car, however, I can’t give it a 5 star rating because the receptionist is always so rude. Every time I call, I get short irritable responses from her and she makes the whole experience a lot less pleasant than it otherwise could be. By contrast, the estimator who assisted me was very friendly and helpful.

A co-​worker reversed into my car. No major damage, but enough to where I needed to have my front bumper fixed. This was my first experience with a repair shop and it was great!
The staff at this North Lamar was excellent! They walked me through the process and kept me updated via text messages on a daily basis.
The car was repaired in the exact amount they estimated (3 days).
The process was much easier than expected and I will definitely recommend this location to any friends that need repairs.

I need to take my car in and tried to make an appointment on Tuesday over the phone, so after getting all my information (including having to repeat and spell my last name three times), she told me they don’t have anything available on Tuesday. Was it really necessary to get all my information just to tell me they don’t have any appointment available?

Overall they did good on a rear-​end accident, but they put the bumper on a bit crooked and gave it back to me with smiles. I brought it back twice and it never got resolved, they gave me the run around and wasted my time and now the warranty is up. They used aftermarket parts instead of dealer parts and now I have to pay someone else to do the job correctly. They don’t have the sense to see that the job isn’t finished and don’t want to protect their reputation if it means more time and billable hours to an insurance company. Now it’s going to cost me a couple hundred to replace a bumper that didn’t belong on there in the first place.

The staff here are professional and friendly. They fixed my car in just one day! They were kind enough to explain the whole process to me step by step and were very patient with me. I recommend this place!

Long story really short, I highly recommend Caliber Collision. I was rear ended in a 4 car collision. I had just bought the car from another private party and there were dents on the driver side prior to me being rear ended. Because the Center Manager, Tyrell Miller, was willing to pop the hood on my car to look for evidence of recent damage from my current wreck he was able to identify fresh signs of the impact to my frame. After Caliber Collision took my car apart for a full assessment for the responsible party’s insurance, it was determined that my frame was buckled in the front and back causing my car to be totaled. I was pretty upset because I had just made my 1^st payment on that car… but I am very thankful because if Mr. Miller hadn’t been willing to inspect the car more closely I would be driving around in a vehicle with compromised safety.

Despite a good experience with a south Austin location over 10 years ago, I’m surprised Caliber seems so successful. They honestly don’t seem to care about getting business or their reputation.
I filled out their Request Appointment online form, got submission confirmation, waited a few weeks, and never heard back. When I finally called, I got some excuse about someone else handling online requests, and clearly they had no record of me. They said for insurance work, I needed to fax the insurance estimate. When I admitted that I left my fax machine back in 1995 and asked for an email address, they said they didn’t have one!
Instead, they directed me to Online Estimate web form. I spent 5 minutes filling it out (lots of required fields, like VIN and such), attached my estimate PDF, submitted, and it said «JPG only». Ugh. I converted the 6 page estimate to individual JPGs and attached the first 4 (their limit), and then it said «form expired, please refresh». WTF?! I was so invested at that point, I actually filled it out again (with the help of auto-​complete) and submitted it. Long story short, terrible follow-​up. I politely emailed their corporate office with the whole story, including my prior good experience, and they never responded either.
My advice is don’t even try with Caliber. I wasn’t in a hurry, but I wasted a month on them. I drove a bit further to Austin Body Works, and they were completely awesome.

These guys rank at the top in customer service. They are courteous, precise and go beyond the call of duty to make the customer happy. If the car ever needs body work, this is where I’d recommend you go.

This is as good as it gets. The service was great. The work was excellent. I don’t think I could possibly be happier.

Have been trying to schedule an appointment and not been very impressed. Slow/​no response. Not particularly helpful or polite. Trying to decide if I should even proceed with the repair or go somewhere else.

Got in my first wreck a couple weeks ago and took my car here. Got it back about a week ago and it looks better then it did before I wrecked it! They did an amazing job! They even cleaned the inside of my car and washed and waxed the outside, which I totally wasn’t expecting. I hope to never wreck again but if it happens I’ll definitely be back!

Greg P was very friendly and helpful with my estimate. I had many questions for him. He was very knowledgeable about all aspects of repair and details about getting a rental car, etc.

I was so impressed with the customer service as well as the workmanship at this location. I brought my car in on a Monday for a five day repair and they encountered more issues than they were anticipating. It probably would have needed an extra day and it was really creating a conflict for me. I explained the situation and they really pushed and went the extra mile to get it back to me before the three day weekend. Greg was very professional and excellent to work with. And my car looks great.

The back of my car got pretty messed up, and I was about a week away from moving across the country, so I was wary about dropping me car off & not having it ready on time.
I expressed my concerns to Greg Pilkington and he promised they would have it ready in a week. My car looked awesome when I picked it up, but more importantly Greg emailed me with updates and got it ready a day ahead of time!
I hope I never have to get body work done again, but if I do, I would want to go here :)

Went back today because my tire blew out, which knocked my front bumper cover and tire liner off. Spent all week worrying about how much the repair would cost for no reason. They fixed it for way less than I expected to pay and my car looks great! I paid out of pocket. Phew, no more driving around with duct tape on my bumper.

I just had to write a review while this all was fresh on my brain (aka leaving Caliber Collision just over and hour ago). I got rear ended out and about off Jollyville + Braker just yesterday via a huge truck, and this being my first auto incident AND being a total newbie of car places in Austin, didn’t know what to do. The person who rear ended me had insurance and I called them, and they came highly recommended, keep in mind when I hear auto shops, I think: Shady, dirty, and odd estimates/​time frames, horror story nightmares. I had the insurance peeps hook me up with a 9AM appointment here, took my car here for them to assess the damages.
I show up around 8:30AM, take my car in, mind you, this is all as speedy as they can with efficiency to get us through as throughouly as possible as no one likes dealing with this stuff, I’m sure. I wasn’t sure if I had to leave my car or if they’d be a quick look, write stuff up and send me on my way. I had the pleasure of having Tyrell walk me through the whole thing. I told him I was rear ended, so all the damage I have will be on the back and luckily there isn’t any other damage that made it all worse.
A dent caving into my back, the bumper pushed in and a scratch at the very bottom, Tyrell caught ALL these and here I was thinking, I only had a dent I encountered. He was more good at catching these faults than I was on my own car! (Ps. I am not a car person, if I see a car, all I’d be able to tell you was it had 2 doors, 4 wheels and it was blue, very basic nondescript key terms). I handed him off my keys to grab some other details from my car, mileage and etc, and he was quick about jotting these details down, wrote up an estimate to send off to the other party’s insurance that I was to be filing through and was out and back to work at 9:10AM!
Freaking A+ service for initial point of contact! :)
Keeping myself posted and excited for the actual work to get scheduled to be done and will write up a post visit after everything’s been finalized, whee!

OMG! These guys rock! From making the appt to the completed job ranks an A+. Tyrell Miller has been my service advisor a long time and he’s always been professional, polite, and extremely helpful. His can-​do attitude makes me feel like someone’s watching my back. Even after the work is completed he does a once-​over before I get the car back. In today’s world of rolling baskets at the grocery store or people hitting you and leaving no info, these guys bring their A game. Their work is so well-​done that you can never tell it was once damaged and everyone’s attitude is so upbeat… I definitely reccommend these guys!

I have had two occasions to come here both with and without insurance payment. I was treated professionally and quickly. The work was excellent and reasonable. The service was great.

Other than the fact that someone pulled a hit and run on me so I had to come here in the first place, this was an awesome experience! My car was done early and under the quoted price… what else is there to say? Oh, but I can say more…
Greg was my service rep, and he was amazing! So friendly, so nice, so punctual. My back bumper had been damaged and needed replacing along with the liner around the tire. He gave me a quote based on the liner he thought it needed, but mentioned that it seemed expensive to him as it’s usually not nearly that much, he’d look into it. Lip service, I thought. Also, there was a spot that was not a part of the insurance covered repair that probably needed repainting, but a good buffing off the paint that had transferred would have helped tremendously. I made it clear that neither I nor my insurance would be paying for that, so I fully expected them to leave it alone. Greg said it would probably be 3 days, 4 at the most.
This all happened at about 7:30am. At 5:45pm later, I got an email saying I could pick up the car the next morning! I came in, my car was waiting for me. Greg informed me that he had found the right liner at a much lower price, so it was about $ 200 cheaper than the estimate he gave me. Also, they buffed out my little accident on the fender and it looks great, no charge. The interior of my car was exponentially cleaner than when I gave it to them. They vacuumed, did the windows, and even the gross black hole between the front seats where straw wrappers, spare change and parking meter receipts go to die.
I feel like I have a whole new car and all they really did was fix the back bumper!
*I just re-​read this review and feel I should make sure to mention that I have no ulterior motives. i don’t work there. I know no one who does… it just really was that great of an experience! :)

Um, No. This was a bad experience. Yes, I suppose it could have been worse! To their credit, the manager was friendly and acted cordial even when I complained. But Caliber did almost as much NEW damage as they fixed.
While I appreciated them «caring enough» to try to correct the NEW damage they did. The second time I took my car in, they messed up my transmission, scratched the inside console and the re-​do work was shoddy and incomplete. They told me they would send out a contractors to finish the work (window and dashboard damage) but never did. Phone calls not returned even when they held my car an extra 4 days (without informing me) after when promised it would be ready.
I never would of gone here but my insurance talked me into it, they said the work was guaranteed. But a guarantee from the incompetent doesn’t mean much. They have several bad reviews on google– fyi. Lesson learned.
