Not only does Capoeira Evolucao off top-​notch instruction from several different perspectives, but they have also build an atmosphere of inclusiveness, acceptance and community, where small gains are noticed and celebrated and personal bests are achieved everyday.
Evolucao understands we don’t all learn in the same way or at the same pace, and they tailor instruction to all kinds of learners. My capoeira has improved dramatically since I started training there, and I have learned so much from each of the teachers, both in and out of class.

I’ve been part of this capoeira group for about three years definitely one of the best groups I’ve been a part of.

I had a chance to experience one of Capoeira Evolucao’s lessons at a free park event this past month and I LOVED it! Capoeira has interested me ever since I’ve heard about it. To be honest, it also intimidated me, with all it’s acrobatic movements (I’m a «keep my feet firmly on the ground» kind of girl.)
The owner, Alex, taught the class. He made the class so ACCESSIBLE. Even for those of us who have no rythm, and have difficulty walking in a straight line.
His other students that showed up were also incredibly helpful and authentically wanted everyone to take part and enjoy the art who wanted to. I really loved their spirit.
If you’re at all interested in Capoeira, I highly suggest Capoeira Evolucao’s studio. You’ll have a great time!

Alex and the people I’ve met in the Capoeira community are extremely friendly and fun to train with.
I teach Jeet Kune Do and I regularly have other local gyms come out and do events with us called Martial Arts In The Park.
I’ve had these guys out twice to teach us now. It’s always a blast. Very different from what we do, but that’s what makes it so much fun.
And one thing I love about Alex and his group is that you can tell that they are like a family. There’s a mutual respect in his group that is unique.
If you’re interested in learning Capoeira, you can’t go wrong training with these guys.

Over 3 years did I try capoeira starting it off out of curiosity and mostly over this Brazilian girl I met that was very good at it. It took only that week to really get me hooked on it. I was completely uncoordinated, out of shape and in no interest to practice sport when I started but over the 3 years, I learned amazing moves and coordination that I never thought I had. Not only that but I learned the brazilian portuguese language, immersed myself into a culture that is full of brotherhood, family and loyalty and mostly, I learned a lot of self confidence through dance, fight, sing, and playing instruments.
Capoeira doesn’t only teach you to fight, it teaches you to dance, teaches you to sing, opens up your musical/​cultural skills, knowledge and tastes, and mostly, it teaches you balance, coordination, agility, incredible reflexes, and a great self-​defense technique.
An even greater experience is that the capoeira family opens up a world for you, literally. Meeting capoeristas from all over the world is as simple as finding them in any place you visit. Capoeira is a very well respected art and any group in any city or country will open up their arms to you if you are passing by. They’ll give you shelter, let you train and would let you share your own group experiences.
Capoeira Evolução (Evolution), was founded over 15+ years ago, and Mestre Rodrigo and now Currently Contra Mestre Metido are incredible at pushing you to do your best and stretching out your limits. The whole meaning of this group is to see yourself evolve through the years and your experiences. Under CM Metido’s tutelage, you’ll never NOT learn anything.
And do not be fooled. Capoeira’s motto is «Capoeira é para homem, menino e mulher, só não aprende quem não quer.»
«Capoeira is for men, women and children; the only ones who don’t learn it are those who don’t wish to.»
Anybody can learn capoeira, and on the least, you’ll have great cardio, flexibility and be in top shape. On the most, you’ll find a family away from your family, learn a new culture, new language (All in good time for the 2014 World Cup), and have an experience that you won’t want to trade for anything else.
If only this thing would allow me to put 6 stars instead of 5.

Capoeira is the greatest all-​body workout I’ve ever had. The good thing is, anyone can do it, because CAPOEIRA IS FOR EVERYONE. Not only that, its full of music, culture, and tradition.
The only reason I showed up at this place, back when the classes were taught at the Rosewood Recreation Center, was because of the free week trial. After one class, I was hooked. The new studio on Riverside is beautiful, which made it easy for me to fall into taking 10 – 12 classes a week there: music lessons, private training, self-​defense, stretching, and a lot more at a really affordable price.
In addition, capoeira is an awesome conversation topic and a great way to make new friends, try something fun, and learn Portuguese at the same time!
The people there quickly became like a family to me and I cherish each moment I had while training with Capoeira Evolucao.

If you want to get the BEST full body workout in Austin then you must come to Capoeira Evolucao Studio’s and take advantage of what this place has to offer. One of the things I love about working out here is the sense of community and support I get from my instructors and other members. I train here with my 2 boys ages 9 and 11 and they have everything from kids classes to family classes. I get so much out of coming here that we usually come out 5 days a week to take advantage of the full program. You have never experienced anything like this before so come see for yourself.
