China Palace has been in Austin for a long time! Their food has gone up and down in quality and I know they have mixed reviews but their Chicken Egg Foo Young is always awesome! I state chicken because it usually comes with shrimp and beef too but I’ve never ordered it that way. I usually get this every six months or so and it is always perfect. Three HUGE patties(that could feed three people) with cabbage, onions and a dark brown sauce. They must use nine eggs to make one order. You will easily get three meals out of this but I would order extra rice.

This place is a hidden gem. The service is fantastic and the portions are large. The dinner specials include an entrée, egg roll, bowl of soup, and rice. Best mushu pork I have had! We had a wonderful time and we are excited that after 6 years living in Austin, we found our local Chinese restaurant.

Plastic. Delivery took over an hour, 45. Ordered $ 33 worth of food and threw away $ 32. Entrée was all canned chicken, baby corn and water chestnuts, with nothing in the way of fresh. The highlight was the CostCo dumplings.

We ordered this in for an office lunch. Quick service using the in-Yelp app! The portions were giant! And the food was nothing more, nothing less than expected, but unmemorable. If you’re trying to get middle of the road Chinese American takeout, this is a good option.

China Palace is a great local Chinese place that has great food and they also deliver! The building doesn’t stand out and it doesn’t look impressive from the outside or inside however do not let this deter you. The food is fantastic and the service is wonderful. The food is a mix of authentic Chinese mixed with American flavor.

This place is a nightmare. I’ve worked in restaurants for over a decade and saw some things I’ve never seen before in a restaurant. The hostess who takes the carry out orders over the phone does not know the menu items or what’s in the dishes they offer. Unbelievable. The minute you walk in the place, you see a dirty residential fridge near the entrance to the kitchen. Never seen that before. I ordered duck and it literally was duck on a bed of cabbage, with little fried pita chips and the worst plum sauce you could imagine. Avoid this place at all costs.

What can I say? I’ve had great, good, decent, and bad Chinese food. This was not decent or bad; it was somewhere in the middle. We ordered Mongolian beef extra spicy, orange chicken, hunan chicken, lo mein, won ton soup, and pork dumplings. The idea was to have leftovers for a few days at least. I’m not sure if they’ll last in the fridge. The Mongolian beef had a weird glaze on it; another reviewer noted this, and he was right. I’ve never had Mongolian beef like this. What is this glaze stuff? The beef was not spicy, the green onions didn’t taste like green onions, and even the white onions seemed bland. Oh yeah, the beef tastes like mystery meat beef. I suspect the food is old or on it’s way out. Or. Mystery meat. Scary. The orange chicken was fried as it should be and not super sweet; it was okay. I’m not a orange chicken Chinese food kind of guy, but it was better than the Mongolian beef. The Hunan chicken was good and spicier than the Mongolian beef, which by default should be and was okay. The lo mein was bland and uneventful. Where is the flavor, the noodly goodness that makes my carb addicted heart yearn for more and more? Not here. The won ton soup didn’t have much flavor and again, bland. What the heck? I put some liquid aminos(like soy sauce with a ton less sodium in it and amino acids in it). The noodles were literally falling apart while I was eating them. Again, this was a bit scary as I’ve never seen noodles do this before. The dumplings were bland. Game over dumplings. I’ve had excellent Chinese food in the past, and unfortunately this didn’t even come close. I suspect the Chinese food from other reviewers may not have had good Chinese food, or maybe they have new cooks, management, or poor food? My money is on poor food quality. Be careful. My girlfriend and I will not be ordering from here again. I hope this review helps another person from not ordering here and having a bad experience. I’m not one to be a negative Ned, but good grief Charlie Brown, don’t serve food like this. I’ve worked in the food industry back in the day for four years, and we could not serve this kind of food. Oh yeah. My girlfriend just informed me she needed a more then brief bathroom break to powder her nose… Correction, make that two trips to powder her nose. Enjoy!

This place looks very shady. Not a lot of options. Maybe like 15 to choose from. For the price i would rather pay for Golden Coral. Food taste was decent. I’d recommend trying a different place.

They apparently have new management. I recently moved to a part of town with not too many options for Chinese delivery so I gave them a try. It’s good! Not great — a little greasy, but that’s what you’re signing up for. The menu was smaller(which to me as an unmistakable sign of an efficient and well-meaning kitchen) and everything I ordered was satisfying and pretty tasty.

This rating is for their takeout. I have not dined in with them. We’ve given them several chances and they’ve arrived late with no apology or coupon. Most recently we were told 45mins for delivery and they arrived after 90mins. Cold food.

Not saying this is some michelin star, super fancy restaurant. I’m giving 5 star for China Palace for what it is – a restaurant that serves good American-Chinese food. We all crave Orange Chicken, Mongolian Chicken, and Fried Rice sometimes. I like ordering from China Palace when I just want to stay home and want some take out. I recommend the Mapo Tofu(I just like that dish in general, and with China Palace in particular, I wish that they add more flavor to the dish) and the Wonton soup(again would like a little more flavoring).

Pretty average Chinese food from what I can tell. The server raved about the sesame sauce but it was pretty unremarkable. The egg drop soup was quite good, I may just get a big bowl of it for my meal next time. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this place might be BYOB, I was in the parking lot for another reason on Superbowl Sunday and saw a couple walking in there with a twelve pack! Maybe call ahead to confirm? The only other thing, I wish the interior looked as nice as the staff actually is, this place needs a make-over badly :/

Yum! Together with a few friends to watch the Oscars and we decided we wanted Chinese delivered. They deliver within a 5 mile radius and luckily we fell into that. We ordered beef and broccoli, honey seared chicken and moo go gai pan. The dinner special involves the meat, rice, soup and an egg roll! Under $ 8.25 who can beat that? No one complained about the food and we all agreed we would eat here again. Finally some edible Chinese food around here!

Ordered online and quoted price while shopping at Blue Genie. Arrived and price was higher than the emailed price which already included tax. Food was not good. I will not make this mistake again.

This place is FANTASTIC. We ordered from them for the first time about a month ago and instantly fell in love with the Vegetarian Dumplings. We ordered from them a second time, and their was a little issue. they sent Pork dumplings that time instead of Vegetarian.(I ordered late in the evening, by the time I realized, they were closed.) I called them the following morning and alerted them to the mistake, and they delivered my Replacement Vegetarian Dumplings that evening. AMAZING costumer service. Being a vegetarian, you don’t always get people that are kind about it and willing to «deal with you». but They are by far the best I’ve seen with correcting meat related mistakes. We ordered from them last night and everything was perfect and delicious, and ALL vegetarian. I would recommend them to anyone.

This is an update to a previous review. I used to be a fan until a recent terrible customer service experience. I ordered chicken with broccoli in garlic sauce from china palace about 20 times previously. Last week, I ordered my usual again and when my husband picked it up & returned home, it was chicken in an extremely salty sauce with tons of overcooked and VERYSTRONG onions and spring onions. There was no broccoli. I let it go thinking it was a one time mistake. Tonight, I ordered«CHICKENWITHBROCCOLIINGARLICSAUCE.» When the woman on the phone repeated my order, I listened carefully. She said«CHICKENWITHBROCCOLIINGARLICSAUCE.» I confirmed the order. When the food arrived, It was again, this chicken in a very salty sauce with a ton of onions. I called to let them know that I had received the wrong order. The girl on the phone refused to accept any responsibility stating«We don’t have a chicken & broccoli with garlic sauce» dish. I said, «I have ordered«CHICKENWITHBROCCOLIINGARLICSAUCE» form you all about 20 times and I have gotten«CHICKENWITHBROCCOLIINGARLICSAUCE.» I don’t understand why I am now being given a completely different dish. The girl said, «Ma’am, I read the order back to you and you confirmed it.» I said«Yes, but you read«CHICKENWITHBROCCOLIINGARLICSAUCE», and THAT is what I confirmed. The girl just kept repeating that they never had a «CHICKENWITHBROCCOLIINGARLICSAUCE.» dish. They offered no solution & blamed the customer for their mistake. They took my money and I got stuck with a dish that they chose for me. This is completely unacceptable, a terrible business practice, and just UNCOOL.
