This was our first time eating get here today and we were surprised to find a buffet that we liked and resembled so close to our favourite buffet from our home town. The food was very good and fresh when we visited. We were seated immediately. The place was nice. Everything was good. The only problem i had was when we got our plates and sat back down in our booth I looked over to him and saw a small cocroach on the wall. I was pretty freaked out to see the roach so close to us. We didn’t bother telling the employees because overall the place did look clean. The roach is why I’m giving 3⁄5 instead of 5⁄5. We’ll probably come again.

Alright, this place has many reviews along with a wide range of them. Here is my take. Walking in we were greeted right away and was sat at a table. We were asked for drinks and we hit the buffet. As far as Buffets go, they had everything! My family’s favorite are the sushi rolls. They had plenty and all very tasty! 4 soups, 2 dessert lines and a Mongolian grill! This place was huge. I give the buffet and service 5 stars. The only draw back is yes the chairs and carpet are a little run down but the place was clean, including the bathrooms. I would definitely go back!

Decent. Average. Kids liked it though, I would liked more tasty varieties. Desert section was little thin variety. Having monglolian grill inside is plus, but meat they usie was so tough my son could not swallow it. lol Fried shripimp was my favorit. Kids want to come back, me? Its ok.

This is pretty much your typical Chinese buffet. It gets very busy for dinner, but there is plenty of seating so never any wait. When it’s busy, the food is always refreshed quickly and comes out hot. There’s quite a big variety of food compared to some smaller buffet places. Like I said, this is your typical Chinese buffet. Don’t expect it to be anything more. But it’s by far the best one I’ve ever been to.

Standard Chinese-American type selections and flavors. Considering I went during a high traffic lunch time I expected the fried and sauced meat options to be more crunchy and not soggy. But it gets the job done if you are in the mind to strap on the feed bag.

We went right when it opened and everything was fresh. Some things were better than others but overall it was one of the best chinese buffets I’ve been to.

To be brief: don’t bother, especially if you are black or in an inter-racial relationship. Let me clarify. As you can obviously see, I am a white woman. My beloved husband, a good and decent man, happens to be black. Christmas evening, as we were going for a casual drive around the city, we decided to stop at Buffet King for a plate of take-out. He dropped me at the door and went to park the car. I went in and ordered, and was told it would only be a few minutes. I sat down and waited for our food. My husband came in and walked right over to where I was waiting. The minute he set foot inside, one of the male employees came right over to him and got in his face… what did he want, what was he doing, and so on. It was a BLATANT racial attack. My husband replied that he was with his wife and we were waiting for our food. The creepy, racist employee kept it up, and ultimately my husband went outside in order to avoid a confrontation. Our order ended up taking a half hour… have you ever waited that long for an order of Chicken Egg Foo Young? Me, neither. Well, as we were finally leaving, and my husband was walking me to the car, the same employee was outside and made a few more bigoted comments. To put the cherry on the sundae, when we got home our order was not what we had ordered and paid for. We got Vegetable Egg Foo Young instead of chicken. My beloved is a peaceful man, and didn’t want me to make anything of the incident. However, I’m from NY and have no trouble standing up for myself or defending my loved ones. I happen to work in Capital Plaza, and after work today I strolled on down to give the management a piece of my mind. I was polite, but firm in explaining the situation. The manager was not only unhelpful, he was downright belligerent, defending his ignorant employee and refusing to make any resolution to my complaint. He also refused to give me any contact information for their corporate headquarters. He did take my name and number, but I sincerely doubt I will hear anything further from them. And, if this story hasn’t convinced you to go elsewhere for your Chinese food fix, the food is bland and unremarkable(at best), and ridiculously overpriced for the quality. Go anywhere else.

Came here last week the staff and service were excellent very attentive couldnt even get through half a glass without them filling me up. The food on the other hand not so great. Go mongolian if you choose this place, chinese food and sushi were very bland but it’s a buffet so you get what you pay for.

Not bad. Not bad at all. Been jonesing for some Chinese Buffet. Got my fix here. Really busy so you know the food is fresh. Seafood and Mongolian BBQ cooked to order. And all of my cousins were there… oh yeah about 10 bucks a head is well worth it.

It will be a sad day in hell if I ever go back to this place. Ambiance feels like a big Vegas buffet but not in a good way, like a cafeteria almost. A man stands there and watches everyone going to the buffet, scowling at them. There is a sign that says you will be charged $ 2 for each plate of wasted food. Geez, it was awful. I could hear my dad in my head, «you can get anything you want, but you have to eat everything you get». I was so afraid to leave food on the plate, I tried to eat everything, out of pure fear of food shaming from the elderly Asian man stalking the buffet. I ate in terror. And let me tell you about the food. It tasted like it had been mass produced, lacked flavor and all kinda tasted the same. It was all very mushy and you could not tell one protein from the next. I asked my boyfriend if he was eating shrimp and he said«I think so?» That is scary folks. Shrimp should be distinguishable.

$ 10.99 for dinner Monday — Thursday! I thought it was a bargain considering a large hot & sour soup is like $ 7. I had three bowls. The food was good. This place wasn’t as crowded as Fujian, which I liked, and everything was still full when I left at 8, an hour before close. The food was okay, about what you’d expect for a Chinese buffet. Nothing to write home about, but pretty good. Definitely good for the price. I wish they had more salads, but that’s not why people are there, so I understand. I’ll try the Mongolian grill next time. It looked good. They also have a stamp card, so you can get a free dinner or lunch after buying 10.

Nice place and lots of room. Servers were very attentive and they were always there to clean up our dirty plates and refill our drink. The food was fresh and plenty. I never saw any tray empty and people waiting for food to be refilled. The only thing that we found a little off was the fruit. The watermelon was a little old and soft. The cantaloupe was good but could be cut a little smaller for better bite size. The sushi was okay, not a huge selection but what was available was good. I did like the pizza and boiled shrimp. Great for the kids. I would go bad to eat the things I missed.

Went to eat with my husband and kids. The sushi was great but when it came to the food i was a bit disappointed. On one of the pieces of chicken i found a hair. When i told management he laughed and said it was chicken hair and not to worry about it. I do not care if it is chicken hair or human hair i don’t think food should have neither one. I would not go back.

Rating: 2.5 We have been trying to look for other Chinese buffets to go to and dad saw this one on TV so we decided to try it out. We first used to go to China Harbor but it was terrible there. And now we go to Buffet Palace but it’s gotten a bit expensive. Before going here I told my dad, «Don’t ever believe what they advertise on TV.» And he said«Well we have to try it out so we can be sure first.» So on we went to Buffet King. It’s kinda confusing when you first go in. The host is at the far end of a big lobby surrounded by chairs. There were people sitting down and I wasn’t sure if we had to sit down and wait to be called or what. They should probably put the host like right I front of the doors so when you go in you automatically see her and you can tell her how many people you have etc. The interior is meh. Chairs are pretty old, carpet is dirty, and it’s really crowded. It’s also kinda dark in there. They have an okay selection of food. Most of their food is seafood so if you like seafood this is your place. The place reminds me of China Harbor but just smaller in size and selection of food. Buffet kings food is a little bit tastier though. I wish it had a bigger selection of ice cream. The final verdict: Buffet King is okay. If you eat more seafood then this is your place.

As far as buffet goes, it is not as bad yet not as good to me either. My family likes going to this place because they enjoy the seafood and many other simple entrees. When i went, it was too crowded and super hungry people pushing you out of the way to grab food. It was too over crowded for me. I dont think i will be back unless family wants me to go. I do it for them! :) but not my first suggestion to go too as far as buffet goes…

As far as my family is concerned, this is THE place for a seafood buffet(in Austin anyway). It seems everytime I invite my wife’s sisters out to eat with us they always pick this place, so here I was again on a Saturday evening, just me, wifey and her four sisters. And considering it was a buffet prepared for the masses … not bad at all. The seafood dishes available were many, including shrimp served several ways, crablegs and a couple others seafood items I didn’t get on this trip. Everything was well prepared and avaiIable with little or no wait for a fresh batch. They also had lightly-breaded fried catfish which I enjoyed and my sister’s favorite … crawfish. The seafood, along with several traditional americanized Chinese dishes and many varieties of chicken and you had yourself a well stocked buffet. One of the reason I’ve been okay coming back is the size of the crowd that shows up. More people should mean more trips from the kitchen with fresh foods and it the case of this place they do just that, they really do a good job of keeping the fresh food flowing. I fed six adults for under $ 90 so price is not a problem and making my sister-in-laws happy in the bargain … good stuff.

Really tasty seafood!!! The main reason I go there is for shrimp and I always feel happy with it. I would recommend avoiding super busy times like Friday or Saturday night dinner, but a lunch or dinner during the week will be great for all sushi and American-Chinese food lovers! The stuff is doing great job keeping the place clean, refilling the most popular dishes and being fast and friendly. And they have little cards buy 10 meals get one for free! Love it!

Agree with Martin S. — this isn’t on the same level as a regular restaurant. As far as buffets go, this was pretty good(especially if you like crab legs)! We only waited a minute before being seated, despite being a busy Friday evening. The sushi was plentiful and decent. My husband said the crawfish was really good, he was very excited about that. Mongolian Grill had tons of topping and sauce options, which was great. Mine turned out pretty good, although the noodles were a bit thicker than I’m used to. Crab legs! They were piled high, refilled often and were of a much higher quality than we’ve had lately.

As usual, I’m rating this buffet compared to other buffets, not against a quality sit-down place. I’ve come here a few times now, and while I was initially disappointed, I’ve definitely warmed up to the place. A majority of buffet items are standard buffet fare so it’s no better or worse in that department than many other places. However: Due to the large number of people in here, the food turns over quickly which means it’s fresher than most others. Two other big bonuses: The Mongolian BBQ and Sushi. The latter is actually pretty darn good and they make it on-site fresh; it’s not imported pre-made from«Johnny’s Chinese buffet superstore». I really like several of the selections. On Mother’s Day lunch they had fresh snow crab legs. I guess they have these on the buffet on weekend nights also. Let me tell you: that is some GOOD stuff and well worth the money if you like crab legs. These are cooked and flash-frozen in Alaska, so all they have to do is put them out on the buffet. Next time I have a hankering for some crab legs, I’m going to go back and massacring a few plates worth.
