This place has really good noodles. Did not try the sushi so I can’t speak to that. One of my fav places to get Chinese in Austin.

I think the last time I went here, the place looked a little different, and they were just doing their grand opening. I also remember there used to be a glass window where you could watch someone actually making the noodles by hand. That window and the restaurant in general has gone through some adjustments, but the food has definitely improved. I had the spicy beer chicken noodles, which is no longer on the menu. I decided to give this place another try, because a lot of people seem to like the place and i was really craving some noodles. I tried the xian noodles and as they had happy hour all day on Sundays, decided with the lobster dumpling appetizer. The lobster dumplings were very tasty. It looks kind of like a small fired wonton and has a lobster mix inside. I really liked how they set these on guacamole and the spicy mayo sauce. The noodles were also really good. I’d say the only drawback of getting these pappardelle noodles is that it is a little difficult to eat. The noodles were chewy and had very unique texture that you’d know while eating that this was not your ordinary noodles. The beef in the noodles were also good and not too salty. They had the right amount of flavor and sauce. I really liked all the different things they topped the plate with including the cucumbers, bean sprouts, and other veggies. Overall really enjoyed everything. I saw that they have lunch specials Mondays through Fridays, hopefully I can try that one of these days.

I really loved their hand made triangle noodles. It tastes amazing plus they give you s good amount! Appetizers were amazing as well. It’s no wonder they are so popular. The wait has never been too long for me, but I bet it gets bad during the busy hours. Either way, it’s worth the wait!

First time trying this place. I’ve been on the hunt for a good Asian noodle place in Austin. I like the fact that the noodles at Xian are fresh made and you can pick the width and shape based on your own personal preference. I would say a lot of their dishes are on the spicy side. The broth that came with my noodles was just lukewarm which is slightly disappointing. Overall I would say the taste was pretty good, better than a lot of Asian noodle places in Austin. But it was pretty salty, I had to drink a lot of water afterwards lol. I didn’t get to try any of their sushi this time so I’ll definitely come back during happy hour to try some of their sushi and sashimi.

I have given this place a try twice now and both times were definitely so-so. The service is not very great, mostly youngish uninterested college kids. While I didn’t expect a LOT out of the sushi it definitely left something to be desired. I did not particularly enjoy my soup dish However the friend I dined with did enjoy hers.

Yes, the noooodles are delicious. Also, they have a «reverse happy hour», which means that at 9pm on a Saturday, you somehow get $ 4 appetizers, select rolls, and wine. I wasn’t expecting that, but okay! We had two appetizers(a sweet/sour shrimp and lobster dumplings), an alaskan roll, a spicy salmon roll, and two soup entrees,(oh, and a glass of vino), and it was all under $ 50 before tip. Not bad! My vegetable soup was full of fresh veggies, and the chili sauce and vinegar were wonderful flavor enhancers. And the servings are huge, so there will be plenty leftover. Our server was sweet and helpful. I also liked that the atmosphere was chill and down to earth, nothing pretentious or hipstery. Good stuff all around.

I don’t Unilocal much or ever but I wanted to take time to say that I love Asian Food and think that Xian Noodles is doing as good or better then anyone else! The noodles are fresh, handmade. The flavored are invigorating and and leave me craving more everything I go. Everything is good, the sushi is very reasonable priced, the noodles are some of the best around and I put them against some other local favs. Oh yeah and the best part… it is very affordable and cheaper than the competition(Ramen Tatsu-ya) Don’t forget to show up for HH until 7pm and reverse HH. Also adding a little chili oil or the black vinegar adds that extra kick of flavor to make you come back for more! I’m glad they are my neighbors and hope they keep it up, as I have not found anything I did not like and the food is always consistent.

This place is awesome! The noodles are made in house, and with the open kitchen, you can catch a glimpse of the magic from time to time. The service was friendly and fast. They won me over with the quality of food for the prices. Our table had two dry noodle dishes, a soup dish, and the cold noodle appetizer. I think it’s safe to say everyone was happy based on how quiet we were. Definitely worth a visit!

I really liked this place the first time I tried it. I ordered the dan dan noodles, which did not disappoint. Most of the dan dan mian in Austin leaves me feeling dissatisfied, but this one is quite flavorful and they don’t skimp out on the beef. I only wish it could be spicier, as Sichuan noodles are known for packing some heat. During my most recent visit, I decided to try the sushi. I am always looking for new sushi venues around town, and I thought it would be great to have a go-to place with both delicious sushi and noodles for whichever I happen to be craving at the moment. That dream quickly became an apparition that disappeared as soon as the sushi was brought to our table. First the presentation, both the sashimi and maki rolls we ordered were delivered to us on chipped plates. I usually like to photograph my food to promote local businesses through Austin food networks, but did not feel the lackluster presentation would encourage anyone to visit. Along with the plates being chipped, the sashimi was sitting in a pool of soy sauce marinade that did not add any aesthetic or flavor enhancements to the dish. The maki rolls tasted okay but were quite mushy. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend any of the sushi dishes I tried, those being the yellow tail jalapeño sashimi, the Angry Crab roll, and the Dragon Roll. I feel a bit guilty for only leaving three stars, but the service received on this last visit wasn’t great either. Our server never came to check on us. He took our order, brought the food to our table, and came back with a check upon request. He never came over to ask us how we enjoyed the food or refill our water glasses. Everything said, I would come here again for their noodles… but just the noodles.

I love Xian for takeout lunch — The bento box is reasonably priced and includes a maki of your choice + soup, rice, and shrimp. My officemates love the dan dan noodles as well. The only bummer is that takeout orders are occasionally incorrect. Check your order before you head out the door, and you should be fine.

I ordered delivery using Amazon Prime Now while delivery was for free! I only ate from the lunch menu. It took almost an hour to arrive on a Sunday, having ordered not long after they opened. They delivered everything in nice, tight containers and held it all in warming bags. My food came just as intended! What I had: — Dan Dan Noodles — eh, maybe I’m just not a fan of Dan Dan noodles. I loved the pickled veggie that came with in the bowl, but the chili oil mix(that the beef and the bean sprouts marinated/swam in), was waaay too oily. It lacked flavor and tasted almost like straight oil. The noodles were good. The broth was fine. The bok choy was fine. It was just meh. I’d rather grab some phở in the future, I think. — Shrimp Tempura — it was good. I like the broth sauce it came with, but it also made all the panko slide off. I think the tempura could have been fried a little longer; the panko was still very light, not golden. But overall, fine. It was part of a bento box, and I loved the rice it came with! Sticky and a little sweet. Perfect. — Spicy Tuna Roll — decent spice tuna roll. Not bad. — Chirashi — the rice with this was absolutely delicious! Really authentic Japanese style rice. Tastes just like the konbini bentos I had in Japan. I also loved that they include raw octopus(it also came with salmon, tuna, shrimp, and a white fish, probably yellowtail). So good. I thought that it was a tad pricey at $ 12.00, but oh, well. I wish they would’ve included a little omelette and maybe some pickled plum, smack dab in the rice.

I ordered some maki rolls from here using Amazon’s new delivery service. They only had the lunch menu available, so I decided to get an array of their basic rolls. I tried the Alaskan, spicy yellowtail, California, and tuna roll. Sounds like more than I could ever eat, but it turns out the rolls are on the smaller side and therefore I ate the whole thing. I was disappointed to see that my to-go soy sauce leaked, but I’m not sure if that’s on the delivery guy or the person who packed my order. There was some left, but not enough for the entire order. Plus 1 things of soy sauce for 5 rolls? Seems a little stingy. I found the Cali roll to be my favorite because it was a little different than what I’m used to experiencing. The yellowtail wasn’t spicy at all and was lacking in flavor to be honest. I really could say the same for the majority of the rolls. Outside of the Cali, I was finding that I needed more soy sauce(which had leaked) and wasabi to really get any flavor. They weren’t bad, they just weren’t great. I’m definitely not giving up on this place. I’ll interested by the noodles which are supposed to be incredible. I think I’ll just avoid the sushi next time.

Came here for sushi on a Friday night. Wasn’t overly packed and there was only a five minute wait. Which I really liked. It’s kind of off the beaten path which meant no traffic. We got the calamari, and 3 signature rolls: crazy, shrimp, and one other. I would say the sushi was good, especially for the signatures only costing $ 10.50. My only critique, and maybe this only bothers me, was that the sushi I expected to have a bit of a chill was room temperature or warmer. Of course I expect that from fried sushi rolls, but I don’t know about with regular ones. Overall, pretty good experience.

I love me some hand pulled noodles! This place offers a variety of noodles in various shapes and widths and with a variety of broths to accompany them. Certain noodles go better with certain dishes than others, so if you are unsure, ask and they’ll offer recommendations. The interior is nicely decorated and seems like a nice date night spot. Not necessarily romantic, but clean and modern. For food, we ordered the spicy lobster dumplings, the Dan Dan noodles with thick spaghetti and beef hand pulled noodles with thick spaghetti. The dumplings were fantastic! Lightly fried deliciousness. The sweet sauce that tops them wasn’t overly sweet either. The Dan Dan noodles were better than the beef broth. I found the Dan Dan to be really flavorful and nicely spicy, while the beef was a bit bland. Not bad, but it felt like it was missing something. The cuts of beef also looked a bit questionable. Odd, but again, not bad. I’d definitely make a return trip in the future to try out some of the other options.

Ambiance: 4⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Food: 3.5÷5 I looooooove noodles. My dad is actually from Xian so I was super excited when I found out this place is super close to our home! The place looks small when you first walk in, but there’s plenty of seating in the back, behind the register. There is also a sushi bar. We didn’t try any sushi the first time around, as I was most excited about the hand-pulled noodles. My mom makes amazing homemade noodles(not pulled, but still delicious) and I was really looking for something that was hearty and authentic. We got the dan dan noodles(triangle noodles) and the beef noodle soup(pappardelle). It’s pretty cool that you can pick what noodle dish you like and what noodle shape you like! I typically like fatter noodles, although the pappardelle was a little too wide for my taste. It kept slipping through the chop sticks and was a mess… I really like the triangle noodles. The name is a little deceiving because they’re more of like… a rhombus, squiggly shape…(see picture for reference). But it’s just the right amount of chew & flavor soakage. Now onto the dishes — they weren’t really what I was expecting??? The dan dan noodles kind of looked more like the beef noodle soup and the beef noodle soup was more bland than normal(see picture for reference — the bowl in the foreground is the dan dan noodle). The broths tasted really similar, except the dan dan noodle had the chili sauce already(the chili sauce is really good btw!). Overall, I really enjoyed my dish even though it wasn’t what I was expecting, but my boyfriend wasn’t too impressed with his beef noodle soup. I had a few bites and I could see where he was coming from. The broth was thinner and lighter than normal(would have expected a deeper brown), kind of more MSG-ish and less dense meaty flavor, and he really didn’t have much else in the bowl aside from slices of beef, where as mine came with pickled cabbage and spinach. The dan dan noodles I had in the past were less brothy and usually with ground beef. I’m giving it a 4 star because it’s nice to see a modern spin on the Chinese cuisine, and although I could be more disappointed if I compare it to traditional Xian food or what my parents make… it was still pretty darn good food! And I would definitely go back to satisfy my noodle cravings. :)

This place moves up a few points in my book or maybe I just ordered the right things this time. Philadelphia Roll: As amazing as last time. Everything is always fresh in the roll and their wasabi is excellent. Dumplings: I loved the sauce that came with them and I was happy to see that they weren’t mooshy on the inside. There’s nothing worse than a mooshy dumpling. Rocky Shrimp: If they had been cooked just a little longer they would have been amazing. They have everything right; the sauce flavor, sesame seeds on top and the shrimp is good quality but, the breading was a little mooshy. This may have been from the sauce too.

Awesome food in an unassuming, albeit popular, strip mall location. The owner is a workhorse and you can watch him in the kitchen as he handcrafts his amazing noodles. It’s great to find a place that does delicious ramen, Dan Dan noodles and sushi rolls with equal aplomb. As an edamame alternative, try the flavorful wok fried green beans. Pro Tip: Go during happy hour and order several of the inexpensive appetizers(I highly recommend the Ruby Tuna) as a good base to your meal.

The style of beef noodle soup served here is mainland China style. It’s delicious and probably the best option for beef noodle soup in Austin currently. After I got over the fact that it costs $ 10 for a bowl of noodle soup(compared to literally $ 1.50 in Taiwan but, I know, I know, it’s not apples to apples), I have truly grown to love this place. Not very many people may notice this on their menu, but Xian will give you more broth if you have noodles left in the bowl. All you have to do is ask. This is very reflective of how noodle soup restaurants in Asia work and I’m extremely thrilled to find that Xian has this offering too(and we all know that the broth is the best part…) At Xian, I have found that I prefer the clear broth noodles(their ‘original’ or ‘house’ dish) better than the red braised beef noodles. It’s got a more subtle flavor than the red braised beef noodles and is very comforting to eat after a long day of work. I’m so glad that they are doing great and opening more locations around the greater Austin area. Good job, Xian, and I’ll be back!

What went wrong? The texture was great but the flavors of both the Dan Dan and Xian were not. — - hang on please, we are pulling onto Taco Bell to get some more food after spending $ 60 at Xian — — - I do not like fast food but it was on the way and I’m hungry. We also ordered shu mai, dumplings, pork buns, and coconut shrimp roll to go with the Dan Dan and the Xian noodles. Blah… I think based on the consist reviews we might have had a bad experience but I wouldn’t return. I cannot reply to a comment(posted by the restaurant so I’m editing my review to answer them) thank you for taking the time to acknowledge my experience. It was our first time, finding you thorough Unilocal while we were in a different part of town then we live. The man making the noodles was kind and showed them to my 3 year old. I’m adding a star to my original review for that plus you taking the time to respond to me. I love noodles, especially hand-pulled, and have never found ones that I couldn’t eat. I actually left my food because I did not like the flavors of either of the two noodle dishes. I’m truly sorry but I have to be honest on my review. I know that you are a very popular place, and I’m sure that my experience was just a fluke. I wish you continued success and all the best!

Fresh. Hand. Pulled. Noodles. This is a small unassuming strip mall spot on the edge of the Mueller area north of downtown. Always a good excuse to grab a bite here before grocery shopping at HEB. There’s something about hearing the slap and pull of the dough from the kitchen. It’s beautiful, it’s like music. The Pork Buns are a great starter as are the pork dumplings. The sushi is decent but I’d save room for the main course! Noodles! Dan Dan noodles here are fantastic. You can also choose the thickness of your noodles and they will pull them accordingly. I personally like the extra thick Pappardelle style but again, it is all up to you. The service has always been friendly. Always greeted with a smile and we’re seated quickly. This is a delicious little treat and a nice escape from less authentic Chinese cuisine. Definitely worth a try! Don’t forget to tip your servers!
