I really enjoyed the choices from the brown rice to adding the proteins I like plus the sauces. Very creative rolls. Nice location and the staff are friendly. I liked it so much I’m getting another to go!

They closed this location down. Save yourself a trip. I drove by this place numerous times and decided to finally give it a shot. Unfortunately, to my surprise they shut down this location. For all of you planning on making the trip to check this place out — don’t. It’s no longer here. You’re welcome!

How Do You Roll was a new concept for me and I’d describe it as an Asian Chipotle. You have the option to create your own roll or bowl by mixing and matching ingredients or they have pre-designed options if you’re not feeling super creative. When you make your creation you can choose a base(rice or salad), a protein, 3 vegetables, sauces, and extra toppings. I tried to order something healthy so I ordered a bowl with lettuce, salmon, avocado, mango, asparagus, and sauces on the side. The ingredients were fresh and very tasty and I was impressed that the avocado and mango did not cost extra. I was a little disappointed with the amount of food that came in the bowl for $ 7. I guess this is probably the same amount you would get in a sushi roll though. The staff was super friendly in explaining how the menu worked and filled our order very quickly. Although the food was tasty and service was good, I probably won’t be coming back here regularly due to the small portions.

We waited 20 minutes for edamame and are still waiting for our rolls. Going on 30 minutes. This is unacceptable even for a real restaurant. The two guys here are working hard. There are dirty tables and they can’t keep up. Management: you need at least 3 people for lunch. It’s unfair to the guys working who are bearing the brunt of pissed off customers. Everyone here is angry. Get it together.

From reading the old reviews, I am assuming this place got new management. I decided to try this place because I work very close by. My visit was really great and the staff was very friendly, plus the food was really fresh. I got the custom sushi bowl, brown rice, smoke salmon, avocado, carrots, and egg topped with sesame seeds, creamy miso, and teriyaki sauce all for only $ 7! Delicious! I will be coming by again.

Only go here if you want to waste your entire hour lunch break waiting and receive horrible service. I waited ten minutes for them to to take my order and then proceeded to wait 30 minutes for my order to be ready. The Guy that had a large complicated order and ordered after me got his order before me!!! Then when what I can only assume was a manager came to the floor, she started barking orders at her employees and the service only got worse. Then to top it off my order was made incorrectly. Ridiculous.

I am a sushi snob. I admit it. It is my cross to bear. For the price, this place lives up to and exceeds expectations. Extremely fresh, perfect rice, and an excellent menu inventory. Two people that really stood out to me were Cade, and Brandon. These gentlemen showed every guest that walked in some of the best customer service I have witnessed. 4 stars simply just because they lack soy sprouts and the masago is a little«meh». Other than that I tend to make this place a staple during my work week for lunch. Keep rocking it out!

I used to work at this location and was kind of pushed out by the new management. I worked there for almost 2 years, was the manager when no one else wanted to be, and was also taken advantage of by the owners who made promises they couldn’t keep and tried to handle things under the table(muliple time I was paid overtime under the table and didn’t get all my back overtime pay until I finally decided that it wasn’t worth it working there) :(it sucks that that’s the way someone would run a business when they had loyal crew members who really cared about this place. I saw a lot of people come and go and unfortunately all of them have found better places to make a living. I do think this store, not only this location, but the headquarters too need to evaluate how they do things.

Multiple times I have been to this location and they have forgotten things for my order that I had paid for. They can never seem to get the roll right, or put soup in a bag. I finally called management to let them know of the service and how I kept paying for items I wasn’t getting, and they did nothing to alleviate the situation. In fact, she sounded almost apathetic. Would not recommend.

I wanted to give this place a try given its within a bike ride from our home and the concept seems cool, cheap sushi that you can create yourself. I consider myself a fan of sushi but by no means a connoisseur so for my first time here I figured I would go with the some of the featured options. I do want to echo what some of the other people have said, I went in on a Saturday night and it was a ghost town. I ordered a Cali roll and a Beefinator, one with brown rice and the other with white, just to be crazy. The rolls are a little smaller than what you would get from a restaurant but that is to be expected given the price is $ 5 and $ 6 dollars so no beef here(see what I did again?). There isn’t really a ton to say about the food. It was good enough for what I paid and how quickly I got it, I am not expecting some 5 star sushi. It was as Unilocal says«a-ok» and I think I would give the HEB sushi a try next time before going back. Also there are a couple other really good food spots near this Mueller location that ill go to again before coming back here. At the end of the day I definitely don’t regret my decision and wouldn’t steer people away if they asked.

The food is delicious! The beefy teriyaki bowl is out of this world! It’s cheap, fast and oh so good!

How in the world does this location stay in business? I’m actually a «Rock N Roller». I used to give them so incredibly much of my money but the last four times we have gone they are LITERALLY out of food. Wth? How do you run a successful business and have no more fish(or other times, rice) for your SUSHI? I’m so incredibly frustrated. Much easier just to not give them our business anymore than it is to expect to get something from a place that advertises it and can’t. UGH!!!

Food is tasty and made while you wait. Prices are relatively high for fast-food served in chipped plates and bowls with plastic utensils.
At this(Mueller) location:(1) most servers are not friendly,(2) tables are bussed infrequently,(3) few patrons. I’ve visited this location twice with same observations. I will return two more times b/c I bought a groupon package since this location is on my way home from work, and I’d been there once before and thought the food tasty, albeit priced for table service. I will go out of my way to go to other Sushi restaurants soon enough.

I just started working across the street, so I REALLY wanted to like this place. Sadly, though, after three visits, all I can say is that I am not sure how they’re still in business. Every single time I’ve been in, I’ve been the only person in the restaurant. The servers are completely apathetic and got my order wrong in some way all three times. Parking is disastrous and wait time is fairly long for a place that advertises fast food sushi. The prices are slightly higher than HEB sushi and HEB sushi is about two notches better. If you’re in this shopping center, though, I’d try Wich Wich or Tino’s instead.

I really like the idea: quick, inexpensive sushi. Great concept. BUT, the management really needs to attend to some basics: Dear management: If you don’t want this location to close like the one at the Triangle, I recommend you give these things a try. * Avocado. Don’t serve it if its been sitting out uncovered for a couple of hours. Cut it fresh for each customer. Especially if its a slow business day which it certainly was when I was there. If you can’t cut it fresh, your staff needs to know how to store it to keep it fresh and green instead of brown. * Soy sauce. If your specialty is sushi, rethink the whole hiding soy sauce behind the counter in little packets. Even McDonalds puts out ketchup packets for everyone. At the very least, consider serving soy sauce with my sushi instead of making me ask for it. * «Homemade.» Your udon soup bowl tastes like Maruchan made it. So, if your soup really is «homemade,» which to me means all fresh ingredients cooked on site, then your recipe really needs some work. If the recipe really is something that comes out of a little foil packet, then stop calling it «homemade.» * Greeting. A smile would be nice. Your staff looks generally unhappy. I could only speculate as to why but I suspect you know why deep down inside. These should all be fixable with minimal expense and effort. Yes, you may have to invest some time and even spend a little more money, but if you do these things I suspect you can build a loyal customer base. Good luck!

Pretty good, cheap prices, and like other HDYR locations. Seems less busy than other locations and has the same options.

Goodness, another sushi shop? As if Austin needed more infusion of flavor in its overcrowded food haven. Or so I thought. I put away my preconceived notion and went straight for the jugular: raw fish. It was fresh, didn’t smell fishy at all and for a good reason: if it did it would mean it’s too old. I asked the manager and he simply explained that their tuna came from the same supplier as other sushi places use. The rolls seemed a bit pricey at first but considering the quality of the ingredients and that each roll was turned into 10 bite-sized morsels of flavor-packed goodness, it was in fact a good deal, especially if you’re staying with friends. The staff behind the counter was knowledgeable and eager to guide my taste buds into an experience that my palate was not to forget. Go there with an open mind, mix whatever ingredient feels good even if you’ve never tried them together. Stick with beef and chicken if you aren’t vegetarian but aren’t quite ready for seafood au naturel, you are about to find out a new way to reward yourself!

I like the concept and the food is decent. But WOW I’m so shocked by the rude employee who made my roll. She refused to move from her spot at the far side of the counter, even when I was pointing at items and asking what they were. She just stood there, far away, and hollered back at me. The restaurant was empty. This place seriously needs to reevaluate the attitudes of the people they hire.

I give 4 stars due to the fact that they have lots of parking. This location is just like the 2nd street location. I miss the old HDYR business model and food but I guess we can’t lament on the past and just have to move on. I usually get the bowls when I come here. They are the best thing about the changes to the menu. Being able to counter order is nice and there is a lot of shopping and other stuff around here to occupy your time when you are done.

A genius concept made easy for whatever you’re in the mood for. They’ve got combination rolls creatively grouped together for your choosing. Or you can create you’re own unique roll. I personally love this build your own roll option. For under $ 5 I can build my own veggie roll. The price of $ 3.95(seaweed wrap) comes with 3 veggies, one meat option(add extra cost) and one free sauce. I forego the meat and get another veggie option for 50 cents. Cucumber, spinach, avocado, asparagus topped with spicy mayo makes eating on the light so damn easy. This 10 piece roll is surely not going to make you bust your pants open. I’ve tried the seaweed salad, and sad to say… I’ve had better. I have yet to try their miso soup which is merely 99 pennies. Look, I love HDYR. It was born in Austin and this is the newest location to their chain in Mueller Center. They’ve got locations all over Austin(sorry none for you Southies yet) and one close to my place, another one close to work. HDYR, why did it take me so long to find and love you? You make eating rolls easy for vegans and vegetarians.
