I stopped by this bar for a quick bite and a drink on a Sunday evening. I had the house margarita, which was good and met my expectations in terms of both taste and alcohol level. I wanted a taco, and the bartender recommended the honey jalapeño chicken taco. I had my doubts, but he was resolute in the recommendation, so I went for it. Man, was he right! The taco was really tasty and had a nice, spicy kick to it. I look forward to having that taco again, as well as trying some other things.

Amazing place right in the heart of 6th Street. The cheese dip appetizer was delicious and the wide selection of unique tacos is really cool. My favorite was probably the pork belly. I definitely will be going back when I’m in the area!

The Orange chipolte taco was yummy, the rest subpar. The chips were stale and flavorless.

Came in on a Tuesday evening, service was decent. What a mixed bag! As others have said, chips were stale and the queso dip tasted like it came from a jar, and the dip was awful. Then, the tacos came and were great — I had the jalapeño chicken and the brisket, both were delicious. Not sure what to make of it all, I will probably come back, but not soon.

Food is gross. Don’t use plates or real glasses. The servers look dirty and unkept. They are rude and unprofessional. They didn’t bring out what I ordered and acted annoyed if we asked for anything. Never again.

Not all that impressed. The chips were stale, and tasted like they were poured straight out of a plastic bag, which we saw later, they were. And the«chili con queso» tasted strikingly similar to Tostitos queso sauce you buy in a jar. The chipotle sauce on the tacos tasted heavily like mayo. I could only make it through one taco and it was the most basic of the bunch. Not something I would try again.

Hipster-fied Tex Mex, not authentic, but slamming! Very tastey, filling tacos. Also, a very wide variety. Local Austin beer on tap. I would recommend!

The food was great, the hospitality was amazing. Came down with some friends from San Diego. First of all, Austin is a lovely town. We ordered take out from our friends condo. Then we went for a walk to pick it up. Upon entering we were greeted promptly by everyone who saw us, and we even stayed for a couple of drinks. Service was not at first perfect, because we are all human. We got back to the condo and noticed we were missing three tacos. Which is honestly my fault because I did not check. I called and talked to Dion, he basically FEDEXed our tacos to the condo, along with some drink tokens. Never once were disrespected or did they claim they gave us the tacos. They handled business like a boss. Thanks Dion!

Best taco Tuesday HH I’ve had in a long time. Real tacos at 2 for 1 not slopped together substandard food. The fish taco, orange brisket, and vegetarian options were hearty and well made. Add to it a decent house margarita and it made Tuesday worth going out for.

Stopped in for lunch on Sunday — not busy at all, so very easy to get in. Staff is super friendly and attentive. I had 3 tacos — more than enough food and all were delicious. Highly recommended!

My good buddy came into town and we went down to 6th to get rowdy, ended up at Chupacabra and got some fish tacos, sooo good! We got several rounds of margaritas so a little blurry but definitely remember leaving happy. Very nice, high five !

Came here for a quick, healthy dinner. Got the chupa salad with grilled chicken. The food was fresh and the different ingredients seemed to blend together well. Definitely an interesting combination for a salad, but it’s surprisingly good. The service could use some work, it was a bit slow and not many other people were here ordering food. The atmosphere is fun.

Great vibe. Good selection of beers and centrally located. I stopped here for lunch, had a beer and 2 tacos. Great price and the tacos are huge and very tasty. I had the steak and Hawaiian and my buddy had the chupa Cabra and said it was good.

I ate across the street yesterday at Iron Cactus and this was much better. I think the difference was the meat. The brisket and pork belly tacos are both excellent choices! The sangria is also tasty!

Place was weird and not any kind of good weird. Everything we had was over priced and bland. Service was good but there was only 8 people in the entire place when we were in there. Three people walked in after us and sat at the bar and bought bowls of alcohol and proceeded to scream-talk to one another in an almost completely empty and quiet place. Not a big fan considering all the other competition for business around it.

Really didn’t like this place. Could barely out down the tacos I got. I got the fried chicken taco which was sub par. I didn’t eat the whole thing which is rare. I think there was too much mayo. Just didn’t taste right. I also got the Baja fish taco which was better. It was a catfish taco that was decent. At least the cat fish taste didn’t come through the fried batter. I ate this whole taco. The best thing was the queso. It had shredded beef in it and was amazing.

I had two tacos the orange chipotle brisket and the chupacabra. They might have been the best tacos I have ever had. I joked that I would no longer be able to go to a late night Mexican place in Chicago and order taco after a night of drinking ever again. I cant describe how good these were. Had one of their signature drinks, don’t remember but I enjoyed it. if in town again, I would definitely go back for those two tacos.

Tacos Nachos Cheeseburgers Oh My! Surprisingly good tacos downtown. My group had the barbacoa taco, the pork belly taco, and the grilled fish taco. These tacos are hearty and for most people 1 taco would be enough especially if you are drinking. I would openly recommend these tacos. Nachos. These are a hidden gem on the menu. I got them fully loaded with chicken and much like the tacos they have a ton of toppings and can easily be split between 2 people. Also they make a good shared item if everyone orders one of the before mentioned tacos. Cheeseburgers. I am torn between who is better them or their sister restaurant Jackalope. I have recently leaned more towards Chupacabra after Jackalope took quite a few options off of the menu, If you have had and enjoyed a Jackalope burger you will like the burgers here. If you have not had a Jackalope burger then you should enjoy a burger at both locations.

Chupa was our first stop in Austin. We dropped our bags at the hotel and hoofed it up to 6th St. Here we had some pretty decent bar fare. I had the Chupacabra taco. Pretty tasty. Good selection of beers on tap and an excellent view of the side show that is 6th Street. It was too early for a lot of Austinites, so we pretty had the place to ourselves. However, maybe the best part of this place was Amanda our server. Since she wasn’t terribly busy we had a great opportunity to get some tips from her on where to visit while in Austin. This place gets 4 stars because the food was better than average and the service was great.
