«CommUnityCare» should be called «CommUnityCareLESS!»
This place (Hanover Clinic @ 1000 E 41^st location) is HORRIBLE. I waited for more than 4 hours on a Sunday morning to see a doctor. The fact that «CommUnityCare» only had only one doctor in all of Austin available on a Sunday to see its patients is ridiculous (an employee told me that there was only 1 doctor in the office). When I arrived, there were 35 people in the waiting room. All other locations are closed on Sunday. My private insurance won’t pay if I go somewhere else without a referral (which I can’t get on a Sunday since my PCP’s office is closed). There isn’t even a water fountain in this place, but when I asked the receptionist for a glass of water, she kindly got one for me.
After waiting 3−½ hours, I was told that I was next in line, but that the doctor was going to lunch and they did not know when he would be back! I was then told that a «middle-​level» doctor is now available (a Physician’s Assistant) and I said fine that I would see him. I was escorted to a room. A nicely dressed woman entered the room however without any name tag. I had no idea who she was; for all I knew should could have been a McDonald’s employee from down the street. She was very pleasant and asked a few questions and took my vitals. Eventually the PA entered who also did not have any ID identifying him with CommunityCareLess, however, he did have on scrubs from another hospital that he works at with his name on it. He was likable and on top of his game; he diagnosed my problem quickly and prescribed the right meds.
The problem here is not the people; the problem is that CommUnityCareLess’ management (1) does not provide enough doctors in its offices and (2) treats patients like CRAP. It seems that their business model is to fill up their waiting rooms hoping that people stick around long enough to service them with minimal staffing and bill private and government insurers for whatever they can. It is really sad because there were sick children in there, elderly people –most of whom I suspect had no where else to go. While I was there, a lot of people just picked up and left. I should have done that, but I was in bad shape.
CommUnityCareLess provides a HORRIBLE patient experience. Stay away from all of their operations at all costs if you can.

Wow the reviews for this place are so bad. I would personally like to slap every single person that gave them anything less than 4 stars true they are far from perfect but they do what they can and for some that’s life saving. They even have called up drug companies to comp meds for pepole that need them. THEY ARE WHAT OTHER PLACES SHOULD STRIVE TO BE

Terrible experience at the RBJ Dental location as a walk in. I was told to go there that they will help me since I’ve been unemployed and have no dental insurance.
The front desk told me that I would have to call CommUnityCare to apply for MAP, then if I qualify I can call back and make an appointment.
Well I called and was told since I have Obama Care I do not qualify, but yet when I asked her then why is it that there were several people there that spoke ONLY Spanish getting the help they needed but I wasn’t. she then said that they really need the help. I was floored by that. Just doesn’t seem right!

Terrible experience at the Hancock walk I’m center. I was told to go there since I could see a PCP for another month. The front desk wrote down symptoms I didn’t have and when the doctor came in my name was wrong. When I asked questions about how the diagnosis fit my symptoms I was told I couldn’t be feeling that bad since I had gotten myself to the appointment. It was pretty clear that the nurse didn’t think I felt bad enough to warrant her time.

WORST experience ever! Had a tooth extracted & was told they can’t give me anything for the pain because the med they do write for is on «back order» so I called another pharmacy to discover that’s a false & when I called back to question them I’m told to go to an ER if I am in pain, yeah because everyone can afford that! Would NOT recommend to anyone!

Regarding: Family Wellness Center — UT School of Nursing
Both Nurse Terry (nurse practitioner), and Dr. Dubois are good health care providers. When in person, they are great listeners and try to problem-​solve issues which are somewhat complex.
I understand that they are more than likely over-​worked at this location, however I switched from Nurse Terry (Nurse Practitioner) to Dr. Dubois because I could no longer deal with Nurse Terry’s nurse, who was AWFUL to deal with. The word «wellness» in the name of their clinic should refer to the quality of care they are trying to give. I found the nurse condescending, belittling, rude, incompetant, out-​of-​line and noone that should be practicing health care.
As soon as you need someting from the front desk droids, which isn’t checking in or checking out, they quickly become condescending with a smile. I know that a lot of patients must ask for specific help with their own individual issues/​needs. I know this also must be difficult to accommodate and is not an easy job. But, if you’re in the position of front desk staff, there must be a better way than to only give general, memorized pat-​answers in a «get-​out-​of-​my-​face» attitude served with lots of judgement and attitude (consistently on my last 5 visits!). The ladies upfront are incredibly disrespectful and use every question as a way to answer «no». No flexibility or creative thinking — at all.
It’s worth asking employees like this why they do their job at all? Does it create any job satisfaction, or are they just paying rent? Because, this behaviour is not «wellness».
If I were rating only the doctors, I’d give them a 4 – 5 stars. But, I’m rating my experience, which causes a tremendous amount of stress, anxiety and emotional illness everytime I have an appointment. After hanging up the phone after talking to one of the staff, or walking out of the actual facility in tears more than a couple of times, I actually look less forward to having to deal with the other staff than having to see the doctor!
If you have a long-​term issue, it may be better to figure something else out. In my case, I’m moving to another city. BTW, I am an educated person, who ran a business prior to moving to Austin, where I could not make ends meet or find consistent work.

These clinics are the picture of what is wrong with healthcare in America. If you wonder why poor folks are flocking to the emergency rooms over trivial health concerns, consider the following.
A patient who walk, or even limp, into this clinic with symptoms of moderate-​plus severity are told to sit down and wait in line for hours behind people with practically nothing wrong with them. When you finally get to the «doctor» (who is actually a Nurse Practitioner who will readily call herself a doctor to your face) they will take your blood pressure/​heart rate and then tell you that you have (insert generic illness) without giving a proper examination. They will prescribe SOMETHING, but probably not what you actually need. They will prescribe neproxen for broken legs and antihistamine tablets for severe bronchitis. This is because they are not allowed to prescribe real medication. That is right. You are denied the same product that is commonly given to middle and upper-​class patients, because you are poor — and because you are poor, these clinics must automatically assume that you are a drug addict. Class discrimination? You bet!
Do yourself a favor, and take yourself to Brackenridge next time there’s something wrong with you, even if it’s not serious. You’ll be seen right away and you’ll get better care. Do not worry if you can’t pay for it, because the expense will fall into the hands of your oppressors.

I recently went to Community care Handcock Walk-​in asking for antibiotics for a mouth Abscess, informed my doctor had: Wisdom teeth ready to come out, swollen glands under jaws, of severe throbbing pain, pain when contact and chewing, feeling unwell, tooth sensitivity, bad breath, biter taste in mouth, boil or bump formed white head.
I was told my saliva glands were inflamed by blockage. Was directed/​prescribed to suck on candy (to produce more saliva to unblock).
Was given no pain medicine nor antibiotics prescribed. Then was instructed that if get a fever to go to the E.R. (in that situation the abscess would have spread and could be life-​threatening.)
Turns out is a dentist at my job suggested that is infact an abscess, so I basically came in and paid $ 95 to be told to eat candy!?! (p.s. sugar makes Abscess worse)
Now it now has got more inflamed, pussing and painfull. Was trying to get an anitobotic like anamoxcilin was perscribed candy. FAIL DR. LEE !!!

The doctors and nurse practioners at this independent non-​profit are really nice considering everything they have to deal with. I always recieve prompt and professional care at very affordable prices.
Apparently in response to the growing numbers of citizens who need to use this service, they revised the ‘linked pharmacies’ network. We are now able to take the prescription to several closer HEBs and other community pharmacies. This is more convienient and practical.
