40+ yr old pizza place. I like the Conan stuff on the walls and the Stevie Ray Vaughn tribute booth. They have deep dish pizza in wheat or white, have vegan cheese and serve Topo Chico! So Conan’s is getting a little hipster makeover, but still true to its roots. All their workers look like stoners which is 100% necessary if you want a successful pizza joint. Deep dish was awesome with artichoke, basil, tomato, garlic, marinara. Also had a pepperoni/mushroom thin. Do yourself a flavor and swing through here if you’re in town/live in ATX.

Heard good things about the pizza here. Recommendation: Go to Wal-mart and pick up a Digiorno or Freschetta. Sauce, cheese and pepperoni on a slice of plain white bread would have more flavor. Over priced and no flavor. Very disappointed.

It is ok. Nothing special that’s for sure. Hippies run out of beer from time to time which defeats the only real reason to go there if ya ask me.

This amended review is ONLY pertaining to the lunch buffet. So I really like Conan’s, I’m a fan of the divey atmosphere and the nice staff BUT the lunch buffet is nothing to write home about. I don’t eat meat, my options were… meat. They offered to make me a veggie pizza, this was fine but my lunch partner was full as I was just starting to eat. I would have been happy with cheese(which I ultimately requested) but no cheese readily available, it had to be made. I find that baffling, everyone loves cheese! Not very impressed as lunch is supposed to be quick. Atleast the salad is good!

I have always loved Conans pizza. Sausage, onion, green peppers with wheat deep dish! Yum. Oh .and that mozz. Cheese and olive salad. great! I worked there a long time ago and not alot of renevation has been done, It would be sad if it was changed. However, this time we went the food was inedible. The wheat crust was SO sour and old i couldnt take but one bite! We took it home(40 miles) so getting a new one was not feasable. plus, 50 bucks for 2 pizzas? Really. Doubt I could drag family back there. Very dispointed and sad. lots of good Memories. Maybe they should stay memories

What kind of place makes you pay 60 cents to pick it up? I tipped because j was a late customer but $ 14 almost $ 15 for a small pizza is pure dog poop! Pizza is sub par for the price. Locals make you feel like dirt if you don’t respect or tip them for their«craft» since they’re local. I’d rather get a smile and a cheap pizza from a corporate establishment than this. Better yet, make the trip to Spartan or violet crown. Such a joke here.

I was very excited to try this pizza, as I have heard great things, however, they messed up my order and I ended up with a deep dish. That’s fine. They’re known for their deep dish so I went with it, and to be fair, the pizza was good. Not great, not terrible, just basic good. The reason I can’t give this place more stars has to do with a lot of other factors: The restaurant is filthy. Just disgusting. Dead bugs in the light fixtures, dust and dying plants, and dirty sticky tables and seats. I wasn’t comfortable touching surfaces without a barrier of napkins between my hands and the surface. The staff was extremely unprofessional and I suspect high based on how slow and confused they seemed to be acting. And to top it off, towards the end of our meal, yelling and obscenities came from the kitchen and lasted nearly 10 minutes. I felt pretty bad for the family that had brought along their ten year old kid to this establishment to witness this as they were just trying to have a family dinner. Never coming back.

I want to give Conan’s 4 stars so badly but unfortunately for this location I can’t! I grew up eating Conan’s being from Houston, and my step dad attended UT in the 70s and ate at Conan’s also. Their DEEPDISHWHOLEWHEATCRUST is still absolutely on point! I had the«Don’t Choke Art» on whole wheat deep dish and it would have been perfect but I asked for normal sauce, but it was drowning in pizza sauce. Pretty gross considering they made my pizza wrong the first time. I wish all pizza places made fresh sauce, preservative free, so it’s less acidic and us sick people can actually eat it! It ruined the whole taste of the pizza for me. The white crust is very doughy also. I have to go back though… That whole wheat crust man

$ 50 for two mediums and salad? Are you serious? And BTW. Inch thick crust with few toppings is NOT Chicago style. Half inch crust with inch thick toppings IS.

I had been going to Conans for years, up until about two years ago. Their service started to slip with rude employees, order mistakes and«our way or the highway» mentality when they mess something up. That could be tolerated to an extent, but then the quality of the food got really bad. I don’t like my pizzas complicated, usually I just have one or two toppings and they couldn’t even get that right. The toppings would be under cooked and the pizza as a whole wasn’t cooked properly. The center of the pizza would be soggy and the cheese wouldn’t be melted properly. I decided to give them one last try a few months ago and I was in for a surprise when pretty much every menu item had doubled in price. You used to be able to get a decent sized salad for like $ 3.50, and now it was $ 7 – 8 and considerably smaller. The pizzas and toppings were also considerably more expensive for less quantity than before, which was the nail in the coffin. A word of advice for anyone contemplating going here, this place is more for the college crowd. I don’t recommend it to people that want to bring their kids here. There are suggestive pictures lacquered in the tables and on the walls, the occasional questionable music and employees randomly going on swearing sprees. They also occasionally have live music on the stage on the weekends, which is a mixed bag. Sometimes the band will be nice, other times the band will make your ears bleed.

It’s so close to my house in South Austin, I can’t help but be a regular. My advice for Conan’s: 1. Go for their deep dish pizza 2. Eat it there 3. Drink Beer. Follow these tips and you will also experience 5 star pizza heaven. I’ve ordered to-go once and it just wasn’t as good. I’ve also strayed from the deep dish a time or two and was disappointed. I’ve given you the secrets to success, Grasshopper, now it is in your hands.

The vegan deep dish pizza is delicious! I was so excited to find a pizza place that offered began whole wheat crust and this place did not disappoint. The vegan cheese is daiya brand(we asked about the soy cheese option but were told it is not vegan). Unlike other vegan pizzas I’ve gotten, this restaurant doesn’t skimp on the vegan cheese. We got the four veggie pizza option and there was a good amount of each veggie on the pizza. We got take out so can’t comment on the service or experience; however the pizza was ready for pickup within 30 minutes when we ordered at 7PM on a Saturday night!

The vegan options are limited but it is great when you are craving deep dish pizza at your basic pizza place. Also a pretty good beer selection.

This place is dirty. Literally, dirty. There are dead roaches in the lights, and there was nasty chunks of food on the table we sat at. As well as splatters of who knows what on the pictures on the wall. The shakers of cheese and peppers were dirty and sticky. Also, they blasted death metal music throughout the entire place. Like, hardcore, heavy metal, annoying, get me the F out of this place, give you a headache music. On top of that, the service is kinda crap. I talked my wife, who doesn’t like deep dish pizza(I swear I didn’t know this when I married her) into going here because thin crust was an option. So she ordered that. But they brought her out a deep dish and said, «sorry, I accidentally made a deep dish. I can re-make it if you’re not cool… with that». I thought that was kinda dick. On top of this, one of their female employees YELLED out«tits» and«suck my dick» back in the kitchen. Now I’m not like some kind of prude or anything, I’ve uttered those words more times than I can count, but there was a ten year old boy with his parents sitting out there. And even if there wasn’t, come on. You’re running a restaurant. It was awkward as fu#%. If I were those parents, I’d have been a little pissed. Which I could tell they were. You’re running a business for F’s sake. Show a little bit of professionalism. Aside from all that, the deep dish pizza was pretty good. Not amazing. It was a little bit soggy, and some slices had way too much sauce. And the toppings weren’t fully cooked. Actually, the pizza was really average. Won’t go back.

Pizza always good here but Manager? on duty this evening had his wife and baby in attendance which is cool however they sat their baby in diapers directly on top one of the tables in the back(Ewwwwwwwwwww!!!). So grose and disgusting. Plus this guy on duty had at least two beer breaks while I was there over 40 min. time span. Don’t know if they allow drinking on duty but just didn’t seem right espec. with baby in diapers sitting directly on table top here others eat. If you dine here make sure and bring own cleanse wipes to sanitize the table tops!

3-star average? Nah, son, that’s not accurate. I’ve ordered delivery from the South location a couple times now and each time has been a tasty situation. I’m doing the vegan thing for now, so I always sub-out for the soy cheese. Delivery has been less than the estimate each time thus far. Both the wheat and white pan-style crusts are already vegan, but you cannot«tell» by taste or texture. I recommend the supreme veggie, sub bbq sauce for the marinara. NOM (4 stars instead of 5 due to dat price, but hey… it’s a lot of pizza!)

I’m a native Hoosier with an affinity for Chicago-style deep dish pizza, and I would say this is about as close as you can get here in Austin. I’ve worked at quite a few pizza places in my youth, and I guess if you see my past reviews, you may notice my life seems to be some kind of grand pizza tour. So, I can confidently say, trust me, this is pretty darn good pizza. Definitely in my top 3 places to get a pie(#1 being Gino’s in Chicago). This place also has it’s own unique style. At times you may catch a live performer playing some nice music, other times you may be tempted by the old arcade games in the corner, and other times it’s just fun to chat with friends about the odd décor. Very uniquely Austin, which is something else I love. If you are into deep dish pizzas, this place is a must.
