I really like this studio. So far, I’ve used ClassPass to attend a Body class and a Revolution class. The people at the front desk have always been very friendly and welcoming. Both instructors that I’ve had were great. This was my first time EVER to go to a spin class, so I was a bit nervous. The instructor was fantastic. She took the time before class to help me set up the bike and made me feel completely comfortable. Highly recommended!

I love the new Define studio in South Austin! Both the spin and barre classes give you a great workout. They have a lot of different workout class times to chose from, which is also helpful if you have a busy schedule. The parking here is also very convenient.

I’ve only been to this studio once, so my experience might only be representative of the particular instructor I had, and not of the studio as a whole. With that said… I took the«Define Body — Open Level» class, which their website claims is beginner-friendly. The class I took was definitely *not* beginner-friendly. This was my first barre class. I told the receptionist that it was my first class, but I don’t think this information was ever conveyed to the instructor. The instructor did not introduce herself or make any introductory comments about the class. There also didn’t seem to be any kind of warm-up. She just launched straight into the routine, at full speed. It felt like being thrown into the deep end! The music was extremely loud and, even though she had a microphone, it was very hard to hear the instructor over the blaring of the music. She also talked very fast, making it even harder to understand her. The instructor didn’t demonstrate most of the moves. She did partially demonstrate them using hand motions, but for most of the class she stood behind the other two students(both of whom had taken the class before), so they could see what she was doing in the mirror – but I couldn’t from where I was located. I had to spend most of the class either looking at her over my shoulder, or looking at the person next to me, trying to figure out what we were supposed to be doing. As far as I could tell(since it was so hard to hear her), she did not offer any modification suggestions to make the exercises more beginner-friendly. She also offered almost no personalized instruction. She did correct my form one time, in the whole class, but that was it. There were only two other people in the class, so I feel like there could have been more personalization. All in all, I didn’t feel welcome or like the instructor cared whether I enjoyed the class. I waited to write a review because, it being my first class after signing up to Classpass, I was worried that this is just what fitness classes are like. Fortunately, I was wrong! I’ve since taken classes at ToddPilates and Barre3, both of which were absolutely fabulous and had none of the problems I’ve described here. :)

Pleasantly surprised by this addition to the S. Lamar fitness scene. A longtime lover of MOD fitness and having visited DEFINE’s north location, I decided to try out their southern spot with Classpass for DEFINEbody. I typically save my cycling for the big dogs like RIDE, Love, and Cyc(found other studios in the city not to be as up to caliber with soundtrack, speed and difficulty), but I’m happy to report that DEFINE’s body class down south is top-notch, sweat inducing(rather than some light stretching with baby weights) and generally kick-ass. The studio is immaculate and trendy — total wellness vibe. As it’s a newer studio, class size has been small and, with that, parking available. Might be something to look out for as this place picks up traction. Excited to go back!

I loved, loved this studio. I came here twice on Classpass while I was in town for work. There is free parking in the garage under the building, just follow the signs when you turn into the garage. The studio itself is beautiful with some products for sale. $ 3.25 to rent shoes for spin. I took two spin classes with Lauren — she was awesome. Her music was perfectly timed to the workout — the first class I was in people were working so hard we steamed up the mirrors so I could barely see myself by the end of the workout! I like the ball for the upper arm work though I’m not sure how much of a workout it gave me. Towels are provided and there is a shower. I’m just sad I didn’t get to try any of the barre classes.
