DPS is the best hard caring workers. I have told all my family to use new system it’s awesome

Came in for my drivers license renewal. No problems whatsoever. I was inn and out in minutes! I had prefilled my documents and was prepared. I came at mid-​morning and mid-​month and there were only a few customers there. The young lady who took care of me was friendly, charming and efficient.

I’m writing this currently from the DPS office. Why am I waiting when you can get in line from home? Well, see here. I live 7 minutes away from the DPS office. I got a notification that I had 28 minutes so I start getting ready to leave and TWO minutes later it drops down to 19 minutes. As I’m driving (recall I’m less than 7 minutes from the office — so this is about 4 minutes in) I’m at the front of the line.

So THEN I text M for more time. I get a message back from specifying that I can say how much time I need by texting M10 or M20. I request 10 minutes, then I get a message that I now have 13 minutes followed by another message saying that I now have 21 minutes.
I think getting in line in the early morning is kind of really variable. What I was told later was that if your spot expires, you can tell the front and they’ll move you to the front of the line again — because they don’t want people texting while driving.
All in all, it wasn’t bad and I probably still waited less time at the office then if I had gone to the DPS straight. It’s just hard to be a fan of DPS in general. This automated line business was just a bit too much for me. Like crappy icing on a stale cake.
