Friendly staff and good specials every night. The shrimp ceviche is awesome! Late night staff and managers are top notch.

Wasn’t great, wasn’t horrible. Place was empty took forever to get the food. But not bad. Had the wings extra crispy. Decent. It’s a good place to get away from the hospital.

Fast and friendly service. The food is great here considering it’s a bar/restaurant. Ordered the wings, chicken tender with gravy, fried mushrooms and fish sandwich, it was exactly what I expected. Greasy goodness and it’s perfect with a pint of beer.

Stopped by last night with the family a little after 10:30 to get a late bite as the kitchen was supposed to be open until 1AM. When we arrived, the only staff were around the bar. We sat down at a picnic table upstairs without any acknowledgement. After a few minutes of not being visited by any staff, let alone getting a menu, we got up because the open garage doors upstairs were letting the cold wind come in. Finally, when we got up and made it to the door to leave, we told one of the bartenders why we were leaving — namely the cold. We were told, «We might close the garage doors later.» The service was atrocious. I’d much more have appreciated the honesty of not keeping the kitchen open rather than paying less than lip service to anyone who didn’t want to sit around the bar.

It’s lunch. It is better than the Seton Hospital Cafeteria. (which is important to know for people who find themselves HAVING to eat in Seton Hospital Cafeteria.) If I have to do hospital eating, I personally prefer the Delaware Subs location right behind the hospital on West 34th. The food is better at Delaware — but the room is more cheerful at Doc’s. If you need cheering up … Doc’s may be a better choice. If you are not on medical detail, there are better lunches farther from the hospital.

The food is okay, but not great. Kind of greasy. About what you would expect from a short order chain /bar. I did like their burgers and their veggie burger in particular is worth getting if you like them. We used to go there a couple times a month just for variety, but stopped after the waiter messed up our order twice in one sitting. That alone would be fine. Nobody is perfect and mistakes happen. But, in this case the manager refused to make it right. At the time I thought to myself«why get worked up over a few dollars», but that reasoning goes both ways. Apparently a few dollars was enough for them to lose lose a regular customer.

Upon visiting Austin for the first time, we were looking for somewhere different to eat than the usual. We stumbled upon Doc’s. It has a pretty cool atmosphere but if you haven’t been here before, it can be pretty confusing figuring out where to sit and if you should sit yourself or not. The menu had a good amount of choices. It’s more of a Tex-Mex based menu. They have plenty of local beers to choose from on tap. The waitress was attentive but could have been just a tad more friendly. Overall it was a pretty good experience though.

Great place to see a game with a big group. Lots of TVs and lots of beer. Don’t expect more than a halfway decent burger. It’ll keep you alive, and I haven’t made a mad dash to the can, yet… I don’t think they’re trying to be more than a fun spot to hang out. They’ve accomplished that. If that’s what you want, then make the trip. If you’re looking for amazing food, get drunk here then go to McDonalds.

Awesome! The Bloody Mary was pretty good, but the breakfast was delicious! Jordan was absolutely the best server! He greeted us when the bartender wasn’t there; suggested a variation of the migas, and he came made sure that it was good even though he wasn’t our server! Will definitely go back!

Can’t really write a full review, but… Walked in, sat down and waited for 10 minutes. Four waitresses standing at the wait station never noticed two of us in plain view. One gave direct eye contact, but continued to ignore us. Gave up and walked out. Won’t be back.

Went here for the fantasy football draft, we had a room to ourselves and they gave us a platter of wings and a pitcher of beer for having the draft there I thought that was pretty cool and they have a lot of good beers on tap. The main reason for the 3 stars is based on the service we received, our server was extremely intoxicated and messed up everybody’s drink order and it took several times of him coming back asking what we ordered over and over for us to finally get our drinks. We had to wait long periods of time to get served again he was incredibly rude to everyone as we were slowly losing our patience with him. At one point he told one of the guys we were with that he was going to spit in his drink. He was taking shots with the customers which I felt was really unprofessional I was actually surprised he still had a job there. We finally had to get a manager involved and he got us another server which she was really nice and tried to make things better for us. The food was okay and the drinks were a little over priced I probably won’t be returning.

Well normally I’m a fan. There are several items on the menu that appeal to me, but alas my visit at this location was not stellar. The wait person was nice enough but the word attentive could not be applied to him. The wait service is such an important part of dining out. I trust this was not usual for this location.

Here’s the deal: its better than Waterloo, but that ain’t saying much. Tried this place a number of times(see my check-ins) and here’s my take. This really is a local/neighborhood place, not a destination place. Mind you, that’s not all that bad. Given its proximity to the medical center you’ll lots of docs/nurses/techs stopping in for a cold one as they wait for their take-out: I’m not sure Doc’s does cocktails as I don’t drink them, but they have plenty of beer on tap. I’ve never had a bad bartender(also never had the same one twice?) when I’ve been there and Layla is easy on the eyes, but a pleasure to talk with too. There isn’t much ambiance — the original Doc’s on South Congress is way better in this department — but its okay. Big plus: In the spring/fall when they open the windows to 38th St., you can sit at the counter looking out on traffic and sipping your beverage of choice. Now, that’s cool. Downside? Food is f’ing awful. I mean, don’t even bother. A bad place? Not at all. Just something you stop at when you’re not quite ready to go home yet as opposed to some place you look forward to.

Came with a group of girlfriends to watch game 3 of the finals. We got there early to make sure we had a seat but to our surprise, it was not that busy. Overall, the atmosphere felt like a typical sports bar. Several TV’s, nice sound, a full bar, dimly lit. We started out with beers and ciders, which were quickly brought to us. Our server, Rachel, was great. She was cheerful, fun to talk to and felt more like a friend than a server. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was delicious. The guac was perfect and it was a large portion of chicken. Would totally order it again. Around the table, cheese fries were ordered($ 5 on Tuesdays) and sliders were ordered. Everyone enjoyed the alcohol, food and atmosphere. I will definitely come back here to watch a game or just order that yummy chicken sandwich again. So close to home and so easy. Thanks Doc’s!

My partner and I visit Doc’s maybe three times a month and we are never disappointed. Cold beer, frozen margaritas, incredible appetizers, and service that exceeds expectations. Patrick, one of our regular waiters, has a fun attitude and even remembers what we normally order. The prices are responsible and the portions meet our needs. I am not a fan of too much food or too little food so, as Goldie Locks would say, «This is just right.» Tip: Bar top tables in the bar area are generally free of the babies in the bar. I love children, but sometimes«free range» parents are not as attentive as they should be with the little ones leaving chaos and mischief in their path.

Sat and waited. Waiters walked past. No service. Left. Actually mentioned to the manager our experience and he couldn’t care less. Oh well. Good thing there are plenty of places to eat around.

If I had to describe this place in one word, it would be: alright. Nothing spectacular, nothing horrendous. A-OK indeed, Unilocal. Seating here is open, so be prepared to act like a vulture if you want to grab one of the(few) larger bar tables if you have a larger group(like I did). The food was alright. Happy hour was from 4 – 7, and included some appetizers at only $ 5, so I thought I would try the buffalo chicken sliders… they were alright. Kind of bland, and hardly any blue cheese on them. But they weren’t awful, just, uh, bland. I was hoping for something spicier. Our server was awesome. 5 stars for him. Totally chill, didn’t make us feel rushed, made some good(and funny) conversation with us, even when he was obviously busy. Doc’s probably won’t be my first choice for a group meetup/happy hour, but that wouldn’t keep me from coming back here again. I still had a good time.

Man, the staff in here is so cheery it’s hard to be in a bad mood. I know, because this is the first place I dropped in after experiencing a flood that engulfed my entire house with water and needless to say I wasn’t in the best mood. However, I’ve been in twice now and I’ve had the same happy go lucky waiter along with his kick ass management just take my mind off the flood completely. The first time we dropped in they were having a bike raffle and our waiter told us he was going to insure we won that bike!(we didn’t, but his enthusiasm was appreciated). Next time we dropped in and asked for a sample of a beer they mentioned that was on Happy Hour. The manager sent out three samples instead. Great service. Of course, they have no idea that they are dealing with folks who have been displaced by a flood and it doesn’t matter. A sign of a good waitstaff is that they can take your mind of nearly anything that’s going on in your life, if only for a few hours. Pretty awesome crew and I’d say their cheese fries are some of the best in Austin.

I fell in love with the Angus beef street tacos. They were served with charro beans and rice, the combination was perfect. Incredibly filling for a small meal and left just enough room for the Shiner Bock Chocolate stout. I left there a with a smile on my face and a full belly.
