Bought a Groupon and tried to stop by a couple times. Apparently their website times and days open on land are all wrong during the summer months. The only place they are open is on the lake — which is only accessible by boat. Tried calling a couple times and just got their answering machine. When i finally did get ahold of someone they were rude on the phone and told me they were only open on land 2 days a week. I returned my Groupon — I recommend you do the same. There are plenty of good places to eat in Austin without all the hassle.

A real DOUBLETROUBLE. We purchased a Groupon for this location and when we went on a Saturday(as announced in their website) we found it closed. Not only that, but a guy that was working there told ut it’s been like 8 months they didn’t open on that location. On calling them on the phone, they were not able to provide us complete information on their opening hours, location, or how to redeem the Groupon.

One of the better food trucks at the CrowBar. I hope they stick around. Standard drinking food. Service is good when business is slow, but not on busy nights(what’s new?). Try the«Angry Bird» which is their specialty pulled chicken– it’s served with cole slaw and jalapenos. Different, and satisfying.

This trailer provides one of the most unique dining experiences around. Located in front of a green house tucked away on the industrial strip of Congress, this trailer boasts the novelty of being Austin’s first amphibious food truck. The BBQ is cooked the night before, and it is honestly solid smoked protein for not being cooked day-of. Overall, the meat sort of likes it smoky characteristics, but it was still very tender, for the most part. Smoked, sliced cattle: A bit dried out, but there were enough fatty pieces to make eating worthwhile. The housemade sausage: Kudos for cranking out your own ground and packed meat, but it was very dry, unfortunately. Good porky flavor, at least. The pulled pork was not as soft as desired, but the long strands boasted good flavor. It was not the typical pulled pork, but it was still acceptable. There is a good amount of seasoning on this here animal product, but the BBQ sauce is heavy on the sweet/tart side. All in all, what do I think? I am sort of fair-weather in terms of my feelings for this establishment. Nothing fancy, but nothing terrible. Just meat that will no doubt sit heavy. They also don’t really serve by desired weight, just as full pounds, which is unfortunate.

Went on a Groupon as well and really really glad I went. I used to work in the business complex right next to it and would have been here all the damn time if it were there before. There aren’t a whole lot of places doing pulled pork in Austin, but this place does it and does it well. The brisket is the best that I’ve had within the city limits.(haven’t been to Franklins yet) From what I can tell, the sauce is homemade, sort of a Kansas City style sauce. The potato salad is mustard base and not too mushy. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the cole slaw is red wine vinegar dressed. The beans are not bad, nothing amazing, but not bad. There isn’t an indoor dining room, so don’t expect a fancy place to sit and eat. Just go to eat awesome BBQ and you’ll be pleased. Also, they take cards.

Now this is not your average BBQ trailer… it’s a boat. Currently, this boat is dry docked on South Congress during the colder months and serving amazing smoked meats. I’ve had a few menu items like the smoked jalapeño sausage, smoked pulled pork sandwich, and brisket. I’m not a big meat fan, but after tasting a few of these selections I am hooked. All I can say is seriously quality meat, very tender and juicy with a great all-around taste. I’m craving that pulled pork sandwich on a daily basis… seriously good stuff. Plus the guys that run this barge are really cool dudes. They have a great set-up to sit and enjoy your food, big tables with lots of lights and a cool ambiance. Thursday nights(weather permitting) hosts a live band and free beer. I can hear the music since I live in the neighborhood and it’s no Nickelback… just some cool tunes and BEER… did I mention that? Mmmmmm.
