I have the Bar-B-q chicken, it was like cardboard even the skin was like plastic. I have had the chicken before and it was moist but this one was like two day old chicken. Also they will not add the pickle onion nor brown bread, I had to go inside and get it myself. Will not return.

I’m not saying this is a 5-star restaurant, but for drive thru fast food it is one of the better options. The service is always good, dine in or drive thru. The ladies working the drive thru are always so sweet. This place is seriously one of the better places to get breakfast tacos in Austin believe it or not. I mainly come here when P-Terry’s wimpy fries aren’t doing it for me. Oh, and the sweet tea!

Ew. Don’t know which is worse: the cold and tepid breakfast plate, the lack of hygiene(trust me — I will not go into details) by the hoards working behind the counter(10 crammed there right now) or the absolute cost cutting garage level frills in the dining room. Will not even go into the lack of value… It takes so little effort to make an eating establishment appealing and to make a customer want to come back. Apparently these efforts are directed elsewhere. Again, ew.

The prices listed on the drive-through board are incorrect. It states $ 7.49 for a 1 meat plate; I was charged $ 8.49 at the window. I brought this up to the cashier and she said«it’ll be the same price after tax anyway». I wasn’t worried too much about the extra dollar, but the principle of it turned me off. Also, aside from the prices discrepancy — the whole drive-through menu could use a re-haul. It’s very cluttered and hard to understand, especially if you’re not a regular here. As for the food — well I ordered marble brisket and got thinly sliced, mostly lean brisket — with the sauce already on it, something that should be illegal in Texas. The coleslaw is like some German-American hybrid. White cabbage in a vinegar dressing, not creamy at all. The beans and hash browns were tasty. Vic’s BBQ on Burleson is about equal distance from me, with one less stop light. Even though they don’t have the convenience of a drive-through I will probably go there, instead of Bill Millers from now on.

Watch out for your taco. Recently, I have had to go back up to the cashier and ask her if they could put more potatoes and egg in my breakfast taco. They like to skimp on the products. Other than that the quality is good I simply find it annoying that I have to ask for food in a Taco that should already be present.

Great place for fans of soupy meat smothered in marinara. Don’t be fooled by the letters«BBQ» in the name, those must be left over from when they served barbecue, not warmed, grody meat they pour ketchup over. Seriously this place sucks. Would not recommend.

Apparently the ~7:30pm shift thinks the best way to give someone their already greasy food is in a ripped up paper sack that reeks of vinegar and is wet. I later came to find out the vinegar smell was actually their coleslaw, which is their main flavor in the dressing(if you could even call it that). That wasn’t appetizing at all. The sausage is fine but they love to give it to you with maximum grase so it leaks right through the tin foil and all over your bag.

Totally disapointing! Pulled chicken sandwich had pieces of small bones(very dangerous choking hazzard). paid extra for all white meat and they tried to sneak in way too much dark meat…

Barbecue breakfast tacos. Only thing that could make me skip kolache in Austin. Our friends had been here many times and recommended it, so we all stopped in for a quick breakfast. I didn’t get to try any other BBQ items here. Had a brisket one– very good. And a carne guisada, which, though the name reminds me of carne asada, was actually more tender and soaked in gravy. Topped off with sweet tea, it was an unusual but tasty breakfast. Good service, decent prices, plain atmosphere except for the sign. I’d go back.

Listen, I hate to blow my own horn here but I grew up down Bill Miller Lane in San Antonio(which houses the original Bill Miller Bar-B-Q ever made!). This location is just the same, if not better(as in offering better daily specials), in terms of quality of food, fantastic customer service, fast & friendly employees, and the ease of parking and going through the drive-thru. I frequent the drive-thru about 4−6x a week to pick up breakfast tacos(which, btw, are amazing and cheap!) & with the electronic blue screen to dictate what you have ordered, getting in and out is a breeze especially on early mornings during the work week. Also, tip for you — if you want your tacos to come out a little cheaper in price but still hit it on the head with homemade goodness, order your tacos with corn tortillas. They are fresh and homemade!!!

OK i get that this is fast food BBQ, but even so … I have had better fast food and better BBQ. It is hard for me to consider the 3rd star when I think about it that way. I do think that the food is not that bad considering the price and service. I kinda do like the 1980s feel of Bill Miller. They have totally ignored any improvement with the times. I am not saying that the 80s are bad at all either. I like the brown orange look. I will try them again for sure and maybe branch out on the menu a bit. I had the $ 5 deal — 2 chopped beef sandwiches with fries. That is so cheap.

My job has catered Bill Millers for Holidays for years. The holiday food they get from them is awful. I think the catering we have gotten from there at work is what initially help skew and influence my opinion of them. I’m hesitant to improve my review thinking bout how bad that food is. What I’ve decided to do is just let that go and review only my experiences at this location. Now that I have lived in Central Texas for a few years I can see Bill Miller for what it is, a great local fast food chain with an awesome home cooked spin. Its not about anything the convenience factor here. So I gave them one star initially and I cant say that most of things I said are completely wrong. The BBQ is the worst you can get probably in the whole town. The thing is the Bill Miller markets itself a BBQ joint in a town that actually has the best BBQ in the world. If I think about Bill Miller in comparison to just about any BBQ in town it falls flat. If ignore their attempts to be a BBQ restaurant and treat them like a cheap fast food restaurant, which I would argue is what they are they shine! The BBQ poor isn’t bad at all for the price and will make you much happier than anything you could get McDonald’s, Jack in the box or Wendy’s. The special that comes with two BBQ sandwiches and a side for 5 bucks is one of the best lunch deals in town. Sure the chipped beef might give you heart burn and be a bit runny. Its still better than the other options at its price point. I get the chicken fried steak meal occasionally with rings in at just under 8 bucks and I daresay is not only not bad but actually very good. I always seem to have a wait a bit longer for the steak but it still falls into the fast food time frame and I know they don’t cook it till I order it. That’s right they actually cook me a fresh chicken Fried steak. A quick trip through a drive through and I get pretty darn good Chicken Fried Steak! I started out writing this review with the intent of upgrading my one star review to a three star. By the end of writing this I decided they deserve 4 stars. I could go on about how good the Tea is, about how the green beans seem to have improved since my last visit and about how the mashed potatoes are chunky but I don’t think I need to. What I do think everyone should do is give Bill Miller a chance. and if it doesn’t work out the first time give them another chance. Bill Miller isn’t pretty on the outside but it has it where it counts.

just waited 20 minutes in the drive thru for two orders of chicken tenders. i had to go back inside for ketchup. then, when i get home, i get a half assed order of chicken. see my photo. you can’t give your customers 1⁄3 of good pieces of chicken and 2⁄3 crap. this bill millers seems to disappoint each time. why? i’d like to know why.

I was in Austin for a few days on a work trip and on the last day decided to grab some BBQ before heading back home. A co-worker recommended Bill Miller so we stopped in for lunch. This was a pretty yummy no frills BBQ spot, which was not far from the airport. I went for the BBQ Turkey Plate with Potato Salad, Baked Beans, and Green Beans. The Turkey and Potato Salad were my favorite parts, but the whole thing was good. I also very much enjoyed the sweet tea and the price was right. I might not eat here all the time, but it really did the trick for a group of hungry out of towners!

This review is based on their«catering service» I use for my Thanksgiving turkey and(new this year) my Easter ham. It works great, I call up(actually if I forget they call me to remind me to order) and pre-order my turkey or ham. Then it’s ready for me to pick up the day before the holiday. They even walk it out to my car for me. You can also order additional family style sides, including pies. Turkey: Choose Tom or Hen. It comes fully cooked(you just reheat in the oven), with gravy and stuffing on the side. Delicious every year I’ve had it, 7 years and running. Ham: Choose a half or a whole. It comes fully cooked(I re-heated it in the oven 1.5 hours). It comes glazed and spiral cut. It was very tasty and I loved the glazed end parts. I’ve been to the restaurant for lunch a few times. Their brisket is okay, the sausage is better, and I love their darker bread. 3 stars for their BBQ.

Overall, Bill Miller does an okay job on most all the food they serve. It isn’t going to be the best BBQ you’ve ever had, but there certainly are some highlights. Their hash brown potatoes are great. The tea is always perfect. The pecan pie is awesome. You can almost always find me at Bill Miller picking up a turkey for Thanksgiving. For $ 40, you get a small(8 – 10 lb) bird, a quart of gravy, and two quarts of dressing. That’s a solid deal. You can get more than that, but I like making all the other dishes.

INSIDESCOOP! I’ve worked there! – you can skip to the CONCLUSION. THEFOOD: Many of the complaints that I see on here are about the wait for fresh food(like fries) I love the fries from this place but only when they are fresh. Because they aren’t like gross processed McDonalds fries that last forever, Our fries can go soft after sitting under the heating lamp for a while. We don’t cook them in bulk because then they’d all be mushy! the wait really isn’t all that bad either, it only takes 4 minutes to cook from the time they are put in the fryer. really, fresh food from this place is the best. time to cook fresh food: Fried Chicken: 15−20mins Strips: 8 – 10 mins French Fries: 4 – 6 mins Chicken Fried Steak(always cooked fresh to order) 6 – 8 Minutes Ribs(highly suggested fresh) 8 – 10 mins Fried Chicken Sandwich 5 – 6 mins Brisket: This is delicious! as long as you aren’t the type to be grossed out by a little fat. and really not for the person trying to watch their figure. This one you would probably want to be cut fresh too. The way we serve this is by the #.(a ¼# one serving) You can ask for a couple of different options: Marbled(moist and tender, more likely to have fat) Lean(less fat but can still be there, also not as greasy) Extra Lean(where they really try and get as much fat off as possible. But the meat can still be tender! don’t get this confused with marbled!) No Ends(this cuts off the harder black pieces at the ends of each slice.— the smokier parts) –lean choices are more likely to be dry… you can also ask for a combination of lean and marbled — for the lean choices you can also ask for the meat to be sliced thin!) And just as a note as to why fresh food is the best thing to ask for here: It’s not because its Bill Miller’s, It’s because its Bill Miller’s in Austin. We don’t get nearly as busy here as the stores in San Antonio, so we try to wait to cook our fresh food until peak hours. don’t get too frustrated though if you come near closing time and have to wait 15 minutes for a family order of chicken, You’re probably the 4th car in a row to order it. people like to do that at night… THESERVICE: we are super nice! :D The manager’s are so cool and will gladly sit down with you and have a nice chat! they’ll even offer you free dessert if you had to wait too long! The employees themselves can be a bit fussy at times but I think that’s just how some of them are. But usually they’re only fussy with each other and more than willing to help out a customer in anyway possible to make their meal even more enjoyable. The trick is to smile back. CONCLUSION Our prices are much cheaper than other BBQ places you will find, especially in Austin, The environment is very casual, but with way better than average customer service of fast food chains. you order and get your food from the front, but we bus your tables– fusion of fast food and family sit down restaurant. Fresh food is usually the best asking for fries. only takes 5mins. It’s not The best restaurant, but It gives a bang for your buck, and you’re eyes will definitely be bigger than your stomach here. Personal favorites: – #1 Poorboy with side order and a drink(Sweet Tea is to Die for!) The Quick Menu: Meats: Brisket, Ham, Turkey, Sausage, Ribs, Chop(a brisket and bbq sauce mix that plays the part of sloppy joe) Sides: Pinto Beans, Green beans, Hash browns, Coleslaw, potato salad, spanish rice, mashed potatoes, french fries. all super delish.

Back to back barbecue chains? What is wrong with me? I was crunched for time during lunch. I had to run by Walmart to pick up some school supplies to donate to a local school for work. There was a Bill Miller Bar-B-Q right by the Walmart I went to. Bill Miller is a local chain that was started in San Antonio. They use a commissary concept. Everything is smoked or prepared at a central kitchen and then delivered to their 67 locations. My favorite things to get at Bill Miller Bar-B-Q are their breakfast tacos, fried chicken, and sweet tea. I like getting the brisket and egg, chicken and egg, or smoked sausage and egg breakfast tacos in the morning. Their fried chicken is really good too. I have a Bill Miller mug that I can get a refill of 32 ounces of sweet tea for 50 cents. Today, I got the rib plate with two meats which included marbled brisket and sausage. On the side, I got coleslaw, potato salad, and hash browns. I was a little embarrassed to bring in my DSLR so I left it in the car. I just used my iPhone to snap a couple of pics. I never knew they had moist brisket. I always assumed they had lean, but I asked for the moist just in case today. They did have some, and it was not that terrible. It was tender and had a nice smoke ring. The flavor was a little lacking, and I could not taste any smoke. That is what barbecue sauce is for I guess. The ribs were actually surprisingly decent. They were juicy and a decent flavor. Their commercial sausage was good. It had a good casing and grind. The hash browns were good as usual. The coleslaw was a little vinegary but not bad. The potato salad had a consistency like mashed potatoes. For being a barbecue chain, it is not terrible. They are very consistent and reasonable priced. They have daily specials, and you can get out of there on the cheap. They are open for all meals and every day of the week. If you do not want«fast food,» stop here when you need a quick meal.
