This is an event rather than a place, so hopefully that will fly. I just love it so much I had to rave a little bit. Founded in NYC, this is the Austin branch of Dr. Sketchy, a three-​hour figure-​drawing extravaganza with burlesque and other counter-​culture models on a monthly basis.
I first went to one in LA last month and had a blast, and was thrilled to discover Austin had their own with its own flavor. The most recent one had models from the Broken Clock Cabaret Tom Waits Peepshow. There’s really nothing better than sketching a bear and a pin-​up in naughty poses while sipping beer. And there are contests for things like model’s favorite and sexiest. Plus cupcakes!
