I needed a quick lunch near Parmer and it felt like a tacos day, looked on Unilocal and decided to give Durango Tacos a try. It’s a good, quick, cheap lunch. I think they’re only open for breakfast and lunch though. The taco prices are 1990s cheap. $ 1 for breakfast tacos with two fillings before 11am, $ 1.50 after. $ 1.50 for regular tacos, $ 3 for gorditas, $ 5 for tortas. They don’t have nearly as many filling options as other places– carnitas, al pastor, bistek, steak, chicken, chicharon. In order of my favorites, I tried the al pastor, carnitas, and bistek. The al pastor had a lot of flavor and was heavy with the adobo sauce. It’s not Mexico style authentic al pastor because it isn’t thin marinated slices of pork roasted on a spit then sliced off, anyone know if there is anything in Austin like this?(Seriously would love to know.) But it was flavorful, cubed pork that was highlighted by their red habanero salsa and lime concocting a nice blend of sweet, savory, spicy and sour. The carnitas were different, cubed, and at least had seen a frying process unlike what Chipotle calls carnitas(stewed pork). These were good with the green tomatillo sauce. The reason it went from 3.5 to 4 stars is the corn tortillas are hand made, a little thick but wavery ends and different thicknesses are a good sign. The guy who took my order was friendly and there was no language barrier. I went inside the Conoco for a liter sugar cane bottled Coke for less than $ 2!

I love good cheap food from a roach coach. The tacos here are delicious and the service is good. There is a slight language barrier but no big deal. The trailor is on the corner of Parmer and Lamar.

I passed by this truck for two years before I stopped by and tried it, and I am sad that I didn’t try it sooner. This taco truck offers some really good tacos and tortas. The tacos with carnitas are really good, and you can’t go wrong with a steak torta.

I found this Taco truck kind of by accident one day while filling up my vehicle at a Conoco station that it sits next to. It’s right on the corner of Parmer and North Lamar. Even though you never know what you are gonna get at a taco truck, I gave it a try. The tacos are excellent and cheap. At 1 $ a pop you certainly get your moneys worth. I have tried their bacon & egg, egg & potato and their migas tacos, and prefer them with a corn tortilla. The migas are really good and spicy, especially when you add the salsa. Overall, this truck is probably not a ton different or even better than most, but the convenience and overall quality have me returning at least once a week.
