EAS Austin

I hired them to add insulation in my attic space and to install a solar powered attic fan.
I had specific concerns and specifications for this project and discussed them with the estimator. Somehow, some of my concerns got lost in the process.
So why five stars? I gave five stars because this company went beyond what I would have expected to make things right. This is the sign of an honest business.

Very unreliable and unresponsive!!!
They gave me a quote and when I agreed they were supposed to call and set an appointment for installation BUT never called and after 3 times my follow up calls finally they said that my project wasn’t big enough and they can’t do it!!! I don’t know why they give a bid if they don’t mean to do it!!!

OK so just to update my previous review like I promised, my June, July, and August energy usage was WAY down compared to last year. There are several factors accounting for this, including the cooler temps this summer, but the attic insulation is definitely one of the factors. Last August we used 1,800 kWh and this year we used just under 1,200 kWh. That’s a huge difference! My husband calculated that at that rate we will be saving around $ 600.00 a year in energy costs. Plus the house is so comfortable now!

Oh my. If I could only make this shorter than it is going to be. I called EAS out to get a quote because my insulation was nil, back in August of 2010. Greg came out and quoted me on the insulation and weatherization, and also calculated that I would get a rebate back from the city of about $ 900. I was excited and signed up. They hired another company to do the weatherization, and they were awesome. But the EAS guys showed up several hours late (~7:00 pm). They were quick, but it sucked to hang around all afternoon for them.
So, everything was fine, but after a month and a half of no rebate check (October), I called to make sure everything was squared away. That’s where it all went wrong. At first, the woman told me that I didn’t qualify for a rebate, because I didn’t also get the radiant barrier and that Austin Energy required it. So I called Austin Energy, and they said it was bogus. So I called them back, and she said the same thing. Then I called the home office every day for a week to get the salesman back on the phone, and he said it was a misunderstanding, and that the paperwork was being completed. OK fine. They came out and did a pre-​inspection, although the actual rebate was around $ 500, not $ 900, I couldn’t complain.
The receptionist called and asked some dates for the post-​inspection (November). I told her what worked, and then she called back a week later and said that Austin Energy was backed up until after February 4^th, and that she would call me back then to schedule. In February I called them again, and they said that Austin Energy was sooooo backed up that they completely changed the system, and they didn’t know when I was going to be scheduled. Blah blah blah. This was after talking to several different people at the EAS. They said it might be July before I’m scheduled.
So what did I do? I called Austin Energy just to double check their status, because the people at EAS are full of it, and I wanted to hear myself. The guy at Austin Energy looked up my account, and scheduled me for Feb 28^th. It took all of 5 minutes.
If you wanna be lied to and ripped off, hire EAS. Otherwise, go with a local place that can offer you some semblance of integrity.

I had EAS out to install insulation for my attic, they came out with a good price and I had it installed. I found out that this summer some of the insultion caused a water leak in my ceiling, I called EAS, they came out and inspected it and hired someone to fix the ceiling. I was surprised they took care of it so quickly!

I’m not sure if this system works yet, but I had a very negative experience with their installation crew. They came out on a Saturday. They seemed nice enough, but left insulation EVERYWHERE. They left silver footprints (from the barrier paint) on our floors. And they just left. When I complained, they said they wouldn’t come back to help clean up until Monday. I would not recommend this company to anyone that doesn’t want to waste their weekend cleaning up after a messy, unprofessional, inconsiderate crew.

Wow… I have heard these guys on the radio for few years now about their radiant barrier system and how it was going to save all kinds of money on your electic bill in the summer. I even did online research and it really seems believeable. All i can report is my results. I spent money on the «special» they advertised. I bought the radiant barrier and additional attic insulation. They promote up to 30% savings. Honestly i did not expect that but felt anywhere around 10−20% would be acceptable. I had the work done in June 08 in a 10 year old home. I kept my thermostat at the same settings we have always used and the first full month after the install we had… ZERO decrease in bill. Again next month… ZERO savings. And… you guessed it… No savings next month. I called them and asked what happened, why, etc… They were very unresponsive and did not seem concerned. Additionaly the install crew spilled the radiant barrier paint all over my grass in the front yard… and didnt say sorry or clean it up or anything… WTF…i had a 3’X4’ patch of silver grass for weeks. I am left wondering just what i paid for and if i’ll ever see any benifit. The only reason i dont give these guys a 1 star is my hope that at least the insulation may help this winter???
And i thought i was helping the world by making my home more efficient and green friendly and all that other nonsense.
They should change their name to DEFICIENT Attic Systems instead.
Beware and… do your homework and ask questions before you deal with these guys.
