Meh, I’m a bit confused by the place. Perhaps I was there on an off day, or am not super into beer to sample enough on the menu to find the place amazing, however, what I am into is meat, cheese, and bread. I sat at the bar and ordered the New Yorker board(pretzel, rye, pastrami, corned beef, kraut, and mustard) + beer cheese(to dip pretzel into) + salted whipped butter(to then dip the pretzel with the beer cheese into as well as the other assorted meat on the board). However, the New Yorker in me was deeply saddened and bored by the New Yorker board– the super dry pastrami and corned beef were not seasoned well and the rye did not have the proper rye oomph to it and tasted stale. The mustard was unmemorable and the butter was just plain, not the whipped salty cultured butter full of flavor and crunchy maldon I was hoping for. The pretzel was ok, but not anywhere near my top 10 pretzels I’ve ate in Philly, NY, or Pennsylvania Dutch Country. The service was mediocre, and the staff were more interested in talking to each other about random mindless inconsequential nothingness than being attentive to customers that I was getting a major millennial headache from them so was quick to get the check wanting for some fresh air and white noise relief…

Great place for happy hour after a day of work, especially if you work downtown. Good drink specials and ping pong tables. Easy to meet new people and great bakery. The happy hour food selection is minimal and decent at best. I love this place and have been several times.

Oh man what a sweet final stop on a day of good food, drinks, music, and adventure. Wanna sit outside in the cold winter air, looking at the water flow below, the street up above, and the strands of lights glow? Just ask, and these nice folks will warm you up with the outdoor heater. Still a little too cold? Wanna move inside where the staff is attractive and friendly, the patrons all have a good attitude, and even the bathroom is adorable(watch your step tho)? Do it. Be our guest. And when you and your friend order late night snacks and consider whether to get large or small size… Well my friend, go big or go home. Get the fresh big pretzel, with an appropriate amount of salt and a nice consistency. Get yourself the big cheese for dipping. Get sauerkraut and potato salad and mustard, even if only one of youse guys likes it — because it’s so good that it’s worth a damn taste. Holy crap get a vegan sausage. Because even if you had a vegan sausage that very morning and you thought it blew your mind, well, you were wrong. It does not even compare to the taste and texture of this faux meat, served with peppers and onions and — canyouevenbelieveit — capers. Get some water because fergodssake you need to hydrate yourself before beddiebye. If you like beer, well you’re already here, in the right place, so get some of that too. Before you go, get upstairs. And, if I may suggest it, get a good look at the bakers hard at work. Get the nice lady to slice you a fresh loaf, and you know what, since that all was seriously so much fun, get a canvas bag for prosterity. Get thee to this place and see how you like it.

Our favorite place to grab a bite in Austin. The pastrami melts in your mouth, and it’s exactly everything you would ever want in one. The pretzels are a must, and the veggie dog is spectacular as well. Tons of flavor in every bite.

My buddy and I had one night in Austin and I just wanted to drink delicious beers. A friend recommended Blind Tiger, and it was almost exactly what I wanted. We grabbed a round of beers at the bar, including a Belgian style Lagunitas. We decided to wander around the vast outside, and settled on a table in the beer tent outside since there were heat lamps there. We ordered the giant pretzel everyone on Unilocal raved about and we were not disappointed. Ended up staying for two more beers: the Omm Rare Vos and the Lagunitas Dogtown. Met some cool people at our table from New York, so definitely enjoyed our night slightly more because of that. Not my favorite bar in the world as it just lacked a certain energy. I think it might be too big a space, at least for«winter.» But I’ll be generous and give them 4 stars.

Everything here is excellent! The pretzels are our personal favorite, but we love the pastries, the coffees and teas, as well as the real food they serve downstairs. The service can be really hit or miss. Sometimes people are extremely friendly but there are a few people who are just sort of rude and unfriendly. Our favorite parties are the pain au chocolate, cookies, and the fruit Danish. The Italian beef sandwich is amazing! It’s nothing at all like a traditional Italian beef sandwich that I’ve had before, but it is simply delicious. I also recommend the grilled sirloin with the cilantro chimichurri. All of the breads and pretzels I’ve had are fantastic, can’t go wrong there

Dozens of beers on tap, fantastic sausage choices, and excellent light-mayo potato salad make this an excellent place to dine. The local hefeweizen complimented the 3 German sausages with house made mustard. No reservations accepted, only walk ins. The waitress was super nice and helpful.

I hate this place. The cookies are terrible — especially the chocolate chunk. It’s so moist and chocolatey and chewy… it’s awful. The cucumber salad, grilled broccoli and potato salad are the reason that people still hate vegetables. The cucumber salad is all light and sweet and summer-y…it’s stupid. I should order something other than the duck sausage, pretzel with beer cheese, chex mix, or that stupid smoked pastrami sandwich sometime because I hate them all. Especially the juicy smokiness of the pastrami. Also the wait staff are ugly. All of them.

I don’t know what happens to my reviews… I KNOW I have reviewed this in years past. I love everything about this place. It’s one of my favorite restaurants to take out-of-towners to for a good time and a glimpse into what the culinary chops of Austin have to offer. Their beer selection is awesome. The meat though… and the mustard… and those PRETZELS as big as your head?! Yeah, that’s why you come here. Their food is just unmatched as far as this type of cuisine goes. I’ve tried multiple boards(great way to share) and sandwiches. I love their rotating selection of grilled veggies. I just can’t get enough of this place.

Sadly was only able to check out for a couple brews, but the people next to us was a whole start up crew out for lunch and their food looked awesome. I love rooftops and open sitting areas at bars, so this was a great little spot right next to the opening to the river. Easy Tiger actually has a bakery up top so if you miss the sign(like I did), you might be scratching your head as to how this is a beer garden. But fret not my friends! Just head on right down the stairs and you get to the good stuff. We were here in the afternoon so we didn’t get a chance to see what it’s like at night, but I have a friend who’s a near-local and it’s her favorite place so definitely stop by on your way through Austin!

I got the knackwurst and the large pretzel and the rosemary and duck sausage and two coffees 1. Coffee was water and burnt tasting 2. Both wursts are cold the side if grilled veggies was cold i can tell you the best thing was the water. Im from Germany and The Easy Tiger even for the service they were terrible. I’m a chef in Germany and the food is a disgrace to any German person! If I was the owner I would restaff the place and simplify the menu and really go over the quality of the food. Because I’m not going back. I’ll be happy to show anyone how its done but dang that was just not an experience I would take anyone there. Also to have your waitress look at you And point and talk to her co workers and talk bad and I see you in plain sight and pointing at me. Nope uh uh I would have tolerated the food if it had been edable and the service wasn’t catastrophic. I wish the best to The Easy Tiger

Dinner review. Beer cheese — 3⁄5 Garlic sausage with pretzel bun — 4⁄5 Bratwurst with pretzel bun — 4⁄5 Pastrami sandwich — 2⁄5 Hill country board — 4⁄5 — rillettes were especially good Good beer selection with four good local beers. Open late until 2 am. Overall, «I’m a fan.»

Overall I would rate Easy Tiger four stars but my experience here was OK at best due to the lack of service. I like that there is an outdoor area and the fact that you can bring your dog. There is enough seating for everyone and I enjoyed the ambience of the outdoor patio. My friends got sausages with pretzel buns and I had the vegetarian sausage with a pretzel bun. The vegetarian sausage was quite good. We also shared some potato salad that was SO delicious. I ordered a side portion of potato salad for myself, but the waitress must have never put it in because I never got it nor did she ever check on us again before giving us the bill to see how we were doing with our food. All in all, the food and beer is worth making a trip to Easy Tiger. BUT the service was not so great at all. On top of forgetting to put in another order of potato salad, our waitress rarely checked on us, never offered to refill our waters or other drinks, and was not that friendly from the start. To top it all off, when it came to splitting the check, we didn’t receive the proper change back at all. If your portion was 15 dollars and you give a 20 dollar bill, you should receive 5 dollars back. What did we receive? ONEDOLLAR back. Essentially, it appeared as if our waitress was taking a tip for herself and never checked back on us again as we were trying to figure out what really happened here. Something like this has NEVER happened to me and I am quite shocked that someone would do this. So, some pretty awful service indeed. Although I was visiting from CA, I do not think Easy Tiger would be my first choice to come back to when I visit Austin again.

You enter the restaurant through their bakery store and go down the stairs to get to the actual restaurant! We had their big pretzel and it was delicious! I love pretzels and I was thoroughly satisfied. They are very soft and have great taste even without the sauces they give you! They give you a cheese sales and a mustard sauce and they are both good! There is outdoor and indoor seating. There are also 2 ping pong tables outside! When we went, there was a huge private party outside and the guests were dressed quite nicely.

Delicious Try the duck sausage and the pastrami sandwich. Filling and flavorful. Well priced. Welcoming atmosphere. Will look to try the beer and bakery next time.

If you like beers, sitting outside, and delicious sandwiches and pretzels, then Easy Tiger is your place. If you don’t like those things, then you should get checked out; there’s probably something severely wrong with you. I was lucky enough to be here during the tail end of Austin Beer Week, so Easy Tiger had even more great local crafts than usual. Waitress was a bit slow, but when she got going, the beers came a-flowing. Had a ton of Real Ale beers from Beer Week and my friends ordered sandwiches and a meat board that both looked awesome. There’s also ping pong in the back, and it overlooks a creek that’s usually dry but flows after heavy rain, which is cool. The back is also dog-friendly. Lovely place all around.

Cold preztel = meh. I came in specifically to try the much raved about pretzel, and got the Small Pretzel($ 2), Small Beer Cheese Dip($ 2) [ . It was a solid pretzel, but it didn’t come out hot so wasn’t awesome status. The beer cheese was also just ok, and a little too chunky for me. However, if the pretzel was warm and melted the cheese dip a bit as you were eating it, I think the combination would have been much improved. There area few counter style seats in the top level/bakery area, and I believe they have a downstairs/bar area where beer is served, but we didn’t go down. I would come back to check out their beers on tap or breads, but not specifically for the pretzel. There isn’t much parking to be found around here but there are limited street parking spots available. Free parking on Sundays.

I’m wavering back and forth between three and four stars. If only I could give 3.5… I’ve been to Easy Tiger a couple of times. When you walk in, you see the bakery at street level, then the restaurant/bar is downstairs. The atmosphere is fun, they have a neat indoor and outdoor space, and the staff is friendly enough. I like their sausages and I’m not usually a big sausage fan. The large pretzels are pretty huge, great for sharing, and the beer cheese is fantastic. The most recent time we went to Easy Tiger, I was dead set on getting a cheese plate. Even before we got to the restaurant, I was planning on ordering a cheese plate. I know, I know, it’s not a place that’s known for their cheese plates, but whatever. We sit down, order beers, then order food… and I was told that they were out of cheese. I was pretty devastated, but picked myself off the floor and ordered the borrego verde sausage. It was a lamb and pork, slightly spicy, sausage, which came with a green chili salsa. I liked it, but I liked boyfriend’s cajun chicken sausage better.

This place is so amazing I don’t even know where to begin! It ranks up there as one of my new faves. I’ve had Easy Tiger bookmarked for awhile but what really prompted me to check it out was all the recent check-ins by my Unilocal friends lately. What an amazing smörgåsbord of delectable delights! :) I only experienced a taste of what Easy Tiger has to offer… I had the croissant with chocolate in it, a chocolate chip cookie and iced mocha… The croissant was delicious(they had many other kinds as well) The chocolate cookie was so rich I only took a bite to save for later ;) Walking inside looks and feels like an old-fashioned city bakery. Not sure if that’s the best verbiage to describe how cool and welcoming this place is. Round the corner and you’ll see an awesome outdoor patio garden area, complete with ping pong tables. In typical Austin fashion, this place also seems kid/dog friendly. Very friendly staff. This is a great place to meet friends in downtown Austin. I want to go back to try their different kinds of beer, beer cheese(what in the world), pretzels and veggie sausage! ps. Thank you kindly for being open on the 4th of July ;)

After viewing all the pictures with the amazing pretzels, I KNEW I had to get me SUM! So late Thursday afternoon after several meetings… we trekked to Easy Tiger for an afternoon snack. The spot is very laid back, loved the atmosphere — seating is not very comfortable, but it’s clean. Lot’s of outdoor seating and even a ping pong table out on the patio. The menu was just ok — sausages, sandwiches and pretzels… that’s about it. We samples 4 different sausages — lamb, duck, chicken and beef. All were good… the pretzels, however, were just meh. Very dry and not much flavor. Bowl and Barrel in Dallas and Auntie Annes pretzel’s are FAR superior to Easy Tigers. Also disappointing were the dipping sauces available for your ginormous pretzel — a cold cheese dip, or whipped butter. Yup, I ordered the beer cheese dip… envisioning a beer-cheese-like queso dip, ya know, HOT melted CHEESE. Nope, it was like a thick pimento cheese… whomp whomp. So…given the atmosphere for drinking and just hanging with friends… it’s a great place. The food isn’t bad… but it’s not anything to go out of your way for.
