I’ve only had their breakfast tacos which are awesome but damn they’re SLOW here. I usually order on the phone for pick-up” but always end up waiting forever. Just wish they’d light the fire under the cooks a little.

Amazing horchata and tacos! My friend and I wanted some late night food so we stopped by this place. We got the steak(bistek los famosos cheese and avocado) tacos and al pastor. The horchata was the best over ever had and you get a free refill! I will definitely be back again soon.

We recently moved to the area from out of state, and were looking for a great local spot. I’m not sure it will be here. I guess we need to brush up on some Spanish, because there was a huge language barrier here. The girl at the register could barely speak English and everything on the menu was in Spanish. I know that’s what«authentic» means, but at least have someone that can speak more English at the counter?! We got the posole and enchiladas, it was okay. The tables were dirty, there was a substantial wait, and with the uncomfortable experience we had, we won’t be giving it another try. :(

Came by after being a patron of the RR location. This past weekend we arrived around 11 or so and my husband ordered the fajita plate($ 10 for what looks like scraps of left over cuts of meat) he said he enjoyed it but it was 100% not fajitas that he got.(if it was it was cut up into a 1000 small pieces you know like they do in a hospital when you are on a mechanical soft diet) I ordered menudo and on the menu it said it was $ 6 and change. But on my receipt it was $ 7.70. Not that big a deal but consistency definitely not there if you can just charge whatever you want. Imagine if you do that all day. it adds up for sure! Not in a big rush to come back. But I’m sure if that late night hunger strikes it is an option since it is open late. pretty freezing in there… take your coat ladies.

El Taquito seriously has the best mini tacos I have had here in Austin. My husband and I always come here and I love that they are open late! Ever since moving here to Austin this is one of my favorite places to go! I would recommend Desebrada(brisket) and Fajitas with avocado and queso fresco!

Been loving this place for 3 years and going. Clean, open early, open late, great salsas, great house made agua frescas, al pastor roasted on a spit(not pre-marinated from the meat market and flash sauteed), and best of all: tacos gringas. If you haven’t had one before, do it. White jack cheese on tortilla grilled face down on the flat top till crisp and melty topped with meat(your choice). Authentic is a passé term I try not to use in regard to Mexican food, it’s common place here and there a lot of good places to get it but El Taquito is consistent and gets high score for the degree of house made items. One gripe: the people taking phone orders sometimes forget certain items exist on their menu; Breakfast Gringas exist and they’re killer!

Have been here over 30 times, have always waited awhile which is fine for fresh food. But tonight I waited 50 min for soup and 3 tacos. Patrons that came in way after got their food(even soup which they said was the holdup). A half dozen other patrons kept saying«you are still here waiting?» Once I got bag of food I noticed the little chips for soup fell in bag so I asked for some chips, the guy at counter told me that he would have to charge me for chips. He misunderstood my request for regular chips vs soup chips but either way he was going to charge The overworked cashier did say sorry once but everyone else was unapologetic and rushed. This restaurant needs better management.

Great tacos and aguas fresca. I had carnitas and carne asada. No complaints really, they were good, but I save 5 stars for anything that really knocks my socks off!

El Taquito is hands down one of the best Mexican taco places I’ve been to in Austin. This place is super low key and easy to miss if you aren’t looking for it but definitely worth stopping by for. The tacos here don’t look like much at first but trust me they are fire I came here with my bf the first time I was visiting Austin and thought we were just making a quick stop. He told me his friend showed him this place and he’s been coming here for tacos since. I didn’t order anything at first, not expecting much, but took a bite of his tacos and ended up ordering two of my own when we were about to leave. I make it a point to come back here every single time I’m in Austin now. Tacos here are around $ 2 with an unlimited salsa bar. Get the tacos gringa style –a layer of cheese melted over the tortilla. You will not regret it.

The food here is great! There are options for fillings, and also great options for salsas. I’ll be back! Great employees and great food.

El Taquito is a hidden eastside gem… especially for late night taco binges. The food is authentic Mexican and prepared in that wonderfully greasy but not over-the-top way. And when you’re stopping in for a hearty snack at 3am, it’s absolutely perfect. I definitely recommend the breakfast tacos, especially the Breakfast Gringa — it’s filled with a layer of melted cheese, for heaven’s sake. Also, the pancakes are randomly delicious. The service could use a little help, but otherwise this spot is great! Don’t be fooled by the cheap looking exterior!

So after placing our order and waiting about 25 minutes I went to check on it to find after taking the order they never printed the ticket and started making it. How do you fail so miserably. On a side note while we were waiting a couple seated by U.S. apparently had the same issue. Fail. Oh and after posting this and eating(53 minutes after ordering) there was a hair in my water.

Decently packed on a Saturday night. Expect to wait! But trust me, totally worth it. I feel this place is slightly over priced for a taco joint. Get the taquito plate with 6 small tacos with the meat of your choice. I chose the trompo, topped with onions, cilantro, pineapple and avocado. So good we went for round 2. My only reasoning for not giving it the 5th star is because I feel that they could have done a better job crisping up the meat. It is sort of dirty in there, but what good taco joint isn’t? I’ll be back for more when I visit ATX!

I miss the old taco trailer this used to be. Horrible service. Was not busy, Called out my number for my tacos. 40 minutes for 3 tacos. Tacos where cold. Complained and they just threw them in the microwave. Never again am I coming back to this place. What a shame. This place is not what it used to be…

We stopped in on Sunday night after checking Unilocal for a good place for a ‘late’ dinner. There were a couple people in line, and the line took forever to move. There was zero urgency by the cashier to get the line moving. We ordered a fajita and caritas plate. The food took a long time to come out, and when it did, it was warm, but not hot. It’s too bad, because it was really good! The reason why I gave three stars was because of the wait time and how dirty the place was. We had to clean our own table. Only a couple tables were occupied, and the rest were covered in plates and cups. I saw there was Pico at the salsa bar, but it was gone when I went over. I realize it was 9:30 and they closed at 10 I believe, but why not put more out while you’re still open? It looked like they had plenty of staff in the kitchen who were joking around, it’s too bad they didn’t send someone out to help clean the place up.

This is one of the places I should be going to more often. My parents like coming here when they visit me. It’s one of those places that seemed to be tucked away on E. Riverside and it’s easy to miss if you are not paying attention as it’s located on a slight incline. It’s a small, clean restaurant and you order at the counter. Usually it takes awhile for your food to come but it’s fresh. Nothing pre-made or frozen. This place is popular so be prepared for a wait. I like getting the nachos and the pollo asado plate. For drinks, I usually get the horchata or Mexican coke.

Excellent taco joint in the Riverside area! Apparently it’s part of a small chain, and I’m glad they’ve expanded out. I tried their breakfast tacos, and the ones I tried were quite tasty. Deshebrada, barbacoa, and pastor and chorizo were all winners. I tried both their tortillas, and I think wheat is still the winner here. I also got the cantaloupe agua fresca, which was sweet and refreshing. From what I can tell, their menu looks quite extensive, and I want to try more. My friend got the gringa, which sounded pretty fantastic. I’m adding this place into my taco rotation!

Well this place was a pleasant surprise! I was hanging out with a friend and we decided we needed some food and went to our handy Unilocal app and this spot was less a mile away. I saw a few of the reviews and pictures and we were in! I was surprised at how busy it was at 9:30pm on a Sunday night. We were lucky enough to grab a seat after some folks got up. We really did not have to wait too long for our food to be ready as well. I liked how the kitchen was very open and you could see all the action happening. I ordered the queso fundido and 2 tacos — brisket la famoso and al pastor. Both tacos I got the avocado and cheese added. Everything was delicious! My favorite taco was the al pastor. There were bits of pineapple and you could totally taste every piece as you bit into the taco! I loved it! I got the tacos and queso fundido for $ 10 … not a bad deal at all! I would definitely stop back in here if I am in the area again!
