Park beside the railroad track on Great Northern Blvd near Pinecrest and cross the street to a «park» that is a good place to run your dog but little else. Bring a ball for the pooch and binocs if you want to birdwatch. I saw a heron and a swarm of swallows. There is no shade here or water so it’s a place to stretch the dogs’ legs before or after work for about 15 minutes.

my friend and I took our dogs to this park. At first we couldn’t find it, and we ended up going to a place with a swimming pool, and a playground. We had no clue where we were, there were no maps, and no signs telling us where the park was. We ended up walking around more and happened to come across a sign and a pathway that said off-leash area… It was still hard to believe that, that place was considered a dog park. It was basically a dam area, with patches of grass on the lower land… oh and there were no other dogs for my puppy to play with. I was really disappointed, but now I know and will most likely not go back. I take it back… i went back. and my dog jumped in the water… even though it has signs saying not to go. but really? it’s an off leash area! that water is absolutely disgusting. It took two full baths for the yucky black stuff to come off.

This leash-free dog park is about 2−½ miles from my house and I’d never heard anything about it, so I thought I’d take the pup to check it out today. It’s basically a 1/3-mile(or so) loop around a moderately picturesque, but non-functional(as far as swimming is concerned) body of water that has some purpose related to flood and water quality control. There are several signs around the perimeter asking people not to let their pets swim in the pond. This is all fine and good in theory, but if you have a pup that loves to cool off in the water and it’s 93 degrees out, as it was at the moment, this is basically akin to putting me on a running track that is built around a cupcake shop and telling me, «NO!» every time I start jogging toward the door. Needless to say, the girl eventually found herself a muddy, stinky patch of water to lie down in and needed a bath when she got home. I can see myself coming here for a few laps with the pup when it’s cooler, but in the heat of the summer, I think we need to frequent spots where the furry kid is allowed to get wet.
