First Pro Clean

If I could choose 0 stars, I would! I purchased a Groupon for First Pro Clean for $ 49 for air duct cleaning, including one dryer vent. The first time we scheduled with them, the guy called my husband and said he would be at our house within the hour. Two hours later, my husband called back the number he had called from, and there was no answer. We called the 888 number to reschedule for 2 weeks later.
The guy that showed up this time came in, spent about 10 minutes and then said that our house was too new to need duct cleaning but that we had mold in our system. He showed my husband «mold» in the unit and then said that he had inspected the vents, and it was in at least one vent and probably all the rest. He said that if it got into the motor, it would cost us thousands to replace our A/​C.
He then proceeded to tell my husband that we had 2 options: We could either pay for a deep cleaning for $ 250 or install a UV light for $ 475 which requires replacing the bulb every month at $ 20 a pop. At first he was being friendly about it, but when my husband told him that we were going to talk about it before we made any decisions, he became very pushy and kept telling him that we were putting our family’s health at risk by keeping a moldy unit running in our house. When my husband told him no, he was flat out rude. He kept saying that he could install the light the same day and we could work out the payments later. He said we could use it for 30 days, and then decide then if we wanted to keep it. I’m sure it would not have happened that way at all!
The form that he gave us with all the information from the «cleaning» (that he didn’t even do) did not even have the company name on it. It was written in with the employee’s cell phone number as the phone number. No company info printed on there at all. In addition, the form is designed to just try and sell you services you don’t need.
We called another company that we have used previously to come check our A/​C the following day, and he said everything was perfectly fine. He also said that before anyone can tell you that there is mold, there are tests that need to be run. It’s not something that they can determine visually. This gentleman said that everything was working just fine, and there was no reason to have any deep cleaning done on our A/​C or any light installed.
First Pro Clean is nothing but a bait and switch scam. They sell you one thing and then just try and convince you that you need something completely different. They try to scare you in to thinking you need to give them more money for services you do not need. There are plenty of reviews about this same company from other states, saying the exact same thing.
