Fog Gone Glass Replacement

A follow-​up to my review of ⁸⁄₁₅. Jim did respond about the time I had given up and was as good as I had remembered, measuring, quoting, and installing within a week or so and keeping me well informed on what was happening. We did talk about the earlier failure to respond and he apologized. It’s like 2 guys in there — hope the 2^nd one stays.

He never answered our email or answering machine message. Drove by the business address, but it is a residential home in a residential neighborhood with no business sign of any kind. Not sure why his website and answering machine are still active, if he is not.

I hope this guy Jim is OK. He and his partner came to my house, taking an hour plus of my work day to measure all my windows with broken seals. He said it would take a week or two to complete the job, including ordering new windows. And that was the last I ever heard from him.
For the next month or so, I called him weekly with absolutely no response. If he’s sick or hurt, I do hope he gets better.

Called, emailed, waited several days… no response whatsoever.

Jim came over and surveyed our smashed windows after the April hail storm hit us pretty bad. He replaced our outer window panes with a 3 business day turnaround from measuring to installing. Quality of glass and fitting was top notch. He even helped remove all our netting which had been ripped apart by the hail as well as replace /​refinish all windows sashes (borders) which were damaged. Our quote was comparable to others, but turn around time was the best. Thanks

Tried several times to get hold of. No return call. Guess business is good and they have no need for new business.

I tried contacting this business. The email came back saying there was not a yahoo email account. I then tried to call and received a recording saying the person I was calling was not accepting calls at this time. I do not think this is an active business.

I needed to replace glass that had begun to fog. Called a couple of glass companies and was told it would be weeks before they could call back and make an appointment. We had a broken exterior window on a condo in downtown Austin. The window was next to the door, making security a big risk. Jim came out and took care of it very quickly. The work was well done, and exactly the price quoted. What more could I ask?

We had a broken house window that needed replacing. We had a friend who does handy man work tell us that the whole window, frame and all, would need to be removed, which would entail removing all the trim work around the window on the outside of our house. So to say we dreaded the research we would need to do to get the pane replaced is an understatement.
I came to Unilocal and read reviews for a multitude of glass companies. I decided to contact Fog Gone after people specifically mentioned house windows. Jim came by the next day to take a look at the window. Said he could order the glass and be back in a few days to repair the window. No «full window removal» needed. «Just like that?» I asked. «Just like that.»
A few days later, he was back and in and out in under 20 minutes. He was friendly and professional and made the whole process just so simple. So grateful for his service!

Read the reviews on here and they are right on. Considered replacing the windows but it didn’t seem right to replace perfectly good frames with vinyl. Jim was very prompt and was genuinely interested in getting us the «right glass» for our house. All I can say is that the windows look AMAZING. Jim is definitely the man for the job.

I went to this guy’s web site and called the number, but his voice mail box was full. Then I sent him an email and he never returned it. Is he even still in business???
Glass Doctor wound up getting my money and did a great job with my window replacements.

I got three bids for replacing a large picture window that my yard guy broke in my Master Bath. I went with Jim and Fog Gone because he came out to look at the window and measure everything before he gave me the quote, so I was much more comfortable that he would give me what I wanted vs the other «over the phone» quotes or guesstimates. It didn’t hurt that he was 20% cheaper on the glass itself and that included installation — up to $ 125 extra on my other quotes.
My glass had some decorator slats between the glass sheets and he matched them exactly in color and design. I almost didn’t ask to get those replaced with the new glass as I thought it would be a costly custom order, but it wasn’t. Jim was very responsive to my emails and got the glass in and tempered in 3 days. He came out to install it the next business day.
Jim worked over an hour to remove the old glass and install the new one. He had to move (and replace) my blinds. He covered the shattered glass with duct tape on both sides and was extremely careful to not damage my walls or the existing aluminum window frame while removing the glass. After the glass was replaced, he vacuumed every broken piece that made it past the duct tape out of my bathroom and from my side yard and even cleaned the window inside and out.
I can’t think of what he could have done to make this an easier or better experience — unless he paid the bill. Jim makes it easy to support local businesses with the level of service he provides.

I was given the name of Fog Gone Glass from my contractor to use for window replacement and new screens for a flip house in Round Rock. I couldn’t be happier with the quick response and excellent service we got and will use this company on our next project! Thanks!

I had one fogged stationary pane in a horizontal sliding kitchen window and decided to have both panes replaced for consistency. Seals were broken on both windows and needed to be replaced. I visited Mr. Sweeny’s website and contacted him via email, including approximate measurements and a couple of attached digital photos of the window. He contacted me within 24 hours and made an appointment to come to take accurate measurements for the window glass on the following Monday. He ordered the glass on Monday, and picked up and completed the replacement on Tuesday. Amazing! The window looks like new and I have no idea why I didn’t call him sooner. My experience was spectacular, from start to finish.
Mr. Sweeny was prompt in communications and arrival, professional in manner, meticulous, and quick. I highly recommend his services. Business people like Jim Sweeny is the reason I support the small, local businesses in Austin.

So I broke a window in the house. I got a quote from another long time glass business (see previous review). I wasn’t satisfied with the quote. I called a friend who is a contractor and he told me about Jim Sweeny and Fog Gone.
Jim and set up a time to have a look at my damage and gave me a flat rate charge of $ 150! He was back the next Monday and had the window replaced within an hour.
