Foot Solutions

I had never dealt with a Pedorthist until today. My partner has been complaining, for a while now, about his feet. My first response to him was to go to REI (which I love) and get a «good» pair of shoes. He opted elsewhere and bought a $ 100 pair of cheap shoes that were flimsy and non-​supportive. End result was he was literally walking on the medial aspect of each foot. I would yell at him to «straighten your posture», but, to no avail.
He asked me to take him to one of the stores with the Dr. Scholl machine that measures your pressure points or whatever. I kinda laughed and asked him if he actually thought such a thing would be accurate. He was like «I don’t know but I wanna try it». I told him that it was probably nothing more than a gimmick and besides, how could he know if the machine was even calibrated accurately? He started getting pissy, so, I pulled out Unilocal.God bless the mobile app.
Within five minutes I found Foot Solutions. I drove us there. We walked in and Troy Halvorson was busy with another customer, but, took the time to greet us. While we were waiting to be seen I started watching the interaction between Troy and his customer. My first thought was «Ewww he’s touching this guys feet». Then I started REALLY watching the interaction. Troy was very thorough with this guy and took his time to thoroughly explain everything he was talking about and recommending.
Finally comes my partners turn. Troy sat on the floor, took off Carl’s shoes and immediately dissed on them. LOL! I did the same thing when he bought them, but, Troy went into great detail to explain why the shoe was useless. Next, he looked at Carl’s feet, did a lot of twisting and turning and commenting on this and that. He made some recommendations and then took him over to this computerized machine to measure arch and pressure points. I was really into this and started thinking that I wanted to do this also.
The machine was pretty impressive as it shows angle of arch, pressure points etc. From this, coupled with the hands on exam, he was able to recommend a pair of shoes that would suit him. He also recommended a orthotic insert, but, suggested he try the shoes first without one. Troy was very professional, and, didn’t try to sell us crap we didn’t need. He explained his recommendation for the shoes, and, when Carl put them on he had him stand up, and, you could visibly see the difference in posture. Carl is digging his knew shoes. Thank God.
After he was through with Carl, he asked if he could do anything else for us, and, I kinda childishly said «Can I try the machine?». Troy, very eagerly, said of course. He took me over and hooked me up. Turns out I have one foot where the Lateral and Medial Arches meet. He told me things I could do, but, told me that if I wasn’t having problems at this point to just hold off.
Awesome experience here. I learned a lot, and, left satisfied. I highly recommend Troy to anyone with achy feet, and, to runners out there. Troy was honest and professional, and, took his time with each customer. If you have calluses or bunions Troy has a solution for you. If you have low arches or arches that stretch to your waist Troy has a solution for you. Excellent experience. Excellent store.

Excellent customer service! I was referred to Foot Solutions by a friend whose husband needed custom orthotics. Ralph was extremely knowledgable and patient. He spent a good 30 – 45 minutes talking to me about my heel pain and suggesting a good insert to help correct the problem. He explained things in a super easy to understand way. I couldn’t afford the custom inserts that were recommended to me but he had a non-​custom alternative. I’ll definitely be back and sending customers his way. Highly recommend this place to others.

Sometimes, I feel like I have feet of gold or that they have an invisible million dollar price tag on them? Sometimes, I wonder why can’t I have normal feet where I just go to Payless, and the first shoe I pick up off the shelf fits wonderfully. But no, my feet like designer Italian shoes and Israeli comfort shoes and other such nonsense, and I really don’t have the pocketbook to keep up with their stupid appetite. My feet put up their noses to *normal* shoes. And that’s what brought me to Foot Solutions. My feet were tired from their endless trek all over town (or several towns) trying to find shoes that actually worked for my finicky feet. But Ralph, the sage owner, and his helper saw my feet and knew what was up. I had (horns please) super high arches! Like such high arches that my feet scoff at the attempts of Chaco’s and off the rack arch supports as utter nonsense. But Ralph had the perfect solution… a custom (expensive…cough) insert that was actually fit MY darn arches… made to fit my feet exactly. It sure has been an adjustment getting used to them… okay still an adjustment (after all Ralph pointed out, I’ve never, ever had that kind of support before). But I appreciate Ralph’s expertise and knowing what to do with these silly feet.
Disclaimer: Do expect to make «an investment», though, if you have finicky feet like mine. He does has cheaper options, but unfortunately, for my feet, there was nothing really cheaper that would make a big difference. Oh, but he does claim that the insert has a 10 year lifespan if I remember correctly. I sure hope so for that price…

I love Foot Solutions! Ralph was so knowledgeable and helpful — and a lot of fun too! I have very high arches and walk fairly long distances three to four days every week (from 5 –6 miles one day to 10 – 12 miles on other days). I recently purchased my second pair of Chung Shi’s which are the perfect shoes for me because of the great arch support. He also added some pads to support the balls of my feet which are extremely helpful for the longer walks. I would highly recommend Foot Solutions! Ralph Rocks!
