GB Custom Floors

Garry’s company worked with me about a year ago through a replacement of carpet on stairs and a loft with hardwood to match my existing hardwood. I also replaced carpet in 3 bedrooms. Garry personally worked with me on the carpet selection and I have been absolutely satisfied with the carpet he recommended and it’s installation.
The replacement of the carpet with hardwood on the stairs required subflooring to be installed on the stairs before the hardwood could be laid. My hardwood design is complicated by varying widths and lengths of planks. I was quite worried about how the stairs would come out with the addition of the subfloor and the complicated layout of the hardwood. I was and continue to be thrilled with the results.
Garry was very patient when the flooring arrived and I realized that I had spec’d the wrong floor. Obviously this threw his schedule off considerably. But he and his crews reacted professionally and patiently.
I gladly recommend GB Custom floors.

I was referred to Garry Bitner (GB Custom Floors) through an interior designer (Susan) I was working with as a slightly cheaper option for flooring installation last summer– 2013. She had worked with him in the past so I thought he would be okay to work with — NOT okay. If I could give him zero stars, I would. One is way too much.
To start, he wanted half the money up front before the job even started– BEWARE. Then the morning he was to start the job, I texted him asking him to come at 11am not 7am because I was not feeling well. He shows up anyway, when I ask him to come back, he angrily agrees. Later in the morning, he texts me saying he’s had a death in the family and that he cannot get to my floors until the following week. I say, I am sorry about his circumstances, but that is unacceptable because I already have painters booked to start the following week– he tells me to reschedule them! I ask if he can get a crew started before he leaves for his funeral– just NO is all I get in response. After more back in forth that whole day, I contact Susan because I cannot move my painters who have been scheduled for almost a month. I explain everything to her and in 30 mins I received a text from GB saying they will start my floors the next day and his younger brother will be supervising the job. (I guess he still wanted to be referred work from Susan– so he figured he better get his shit together).
Please be advised, it was not only the way he handled the above situation, it was if I had a question about my floors or how things were going to be done, I felt as if he talked down to me, or that he was extremely annoyed all the time. As someone who is providing a service to people, that is not how you act. He is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, hard to deal with and I got what I paid for.
I wish I had just saved and waited a little longer and gone with someone better– don’t make the same mistake I did– DON’T use GB CUSTOM FLOORS.
