My husband and I ran out of our previous whey protein powder that had been handed down by a friend who wasn’t using it anymore. It seemed great for our insanity workouts, but felt it wasn’t maximizing our results, so we thought it was time for something new. We had been to a different GNC location previously not knowing a lot about what we needed to buy. The salesperson was nice and seemed slightly knowledgeable, but didn’t really help in the decision making process, so we left empty handed. We saw this GNC location(which was actually closer to our house), and noticed a sales guy inside that looked like he had a fit lifestyle and would be helpful in making our decision. We didn’t walk in at the time, but knew we would be back. We walked in today determined to buy a protein powder. At this point, I had done lots of research on whey proteins. We had an idea what to get, but still not 100% sure. The salesperson, Janey, was really nice. Within a few minutes of telling her what we were looking for, she recommended a powder and even gave us additional info on the product. She(like the previous sales guy we had seen at this location), worked out and lived a fit lifestyle, so I felt like I could trust her professional and personal opinion. She also explained everything very well, so I didn’t feel dumb. I finally felt very confident in what we were buying, thanks to her! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because the product we purchased was more than I would have liked to spend for as often as we will need to buy it(since my husband and I will be sharing it) Otherwise, great customer service!

This location is great — always helpful staff that aren’t pushy. Go to this location if you need to pick something up right away — otherwise you typically find a better deal at their online store. In addition, this location sometimes has some flavor of the lean 25 and lean protein shakes on clearance, about 10 bucks lower than online and no waiting to have the product shipped. Avoid the Hancock location at all costs — friendly enough guy working but when I asked why the price for items was about 20 bucks more expensive than online(even with gold card discount) I seemed to catch him off guard and he said«well we don’t charge shipping that’s the big differnece.» Really? 20 bucks to ship a 30 count of supplements? Are we shipping from Antartica? Clearly, I walked out of the door pretty quickly.

With a new outlook on health and fitness, I had my first appointment with a personal trainer. Among learning new ways to stretch before a workout, and blanching my spinach to get the full nutritional value, he suggested two things I needed to add: 1.) A protein shake.(cough); and 2.) A new multivitamin(What? Centrum isn’t good enough?). Apparently Centrum is NOT good enough. For the shake, he recommended a brand that I couldn’t find easily, so I just ended up buying the Whole Foods brand of whey protein mix. As for the vitamin, he said it needed to be time-released, so that I could absorb more over the course of a day. Whole Foods didn’t have what I wanted, so I made my next stop GNC. GNC seems like a pretty straight-forward place. The guy working there was preoccupied with another customer, but he did say he’d be with me in a moment. This gave me time to peruse the utterly confusing array of vitamins and supplements whose actual nutritional value I hold highly suspect, unless told otherwise by my doctor. I found the vitamins designed for guys, and with the butch packaging and huge daily percentages of vitamins, I started to doubt whether I needed these things at all. I mean I was power walking at the gym, not training for the Olympics. Finally, the clerk came over to assist. He told me the most popular time released vitamin would be the GNC Mega Man Sport(to help with muscle repair and such). He suggested the larger Vitapack, but I felt only the multivitamin was needed. I got a three month’s supply for around $ 30. The guy was knowledgeable and made the decision that much easier. He offered some sort of GNC discount card that when I did the math, probably wouldn’t have helped in the discount department at all. I suppose if you were spending hundreds of dollars on pumpkin seed oil and calcium chews, it would make more sense. Not so much for my little purchase. So far I’m happy with my new GNC multivitamin. One concern? Ever since I started taking it, my pee is this jazzy neon yellow. Eh. I can live with that.
