I have used this firm for 10 years. They have saved me more than I have paid them in fees. I find them professional, courteous & responsive to my needs.

Overpriced Underachievers. I was charged twice as much for my 2009 tax return done by HPB as I was charged by another tax preparer for my comparable 2010 return. Imagine my irritation to receive a bill from the IRS for $ 1602 for the overpriced 2009 return for a 1099 the «CPAs» were given but neglected to include in my return. I asked them to pay the interest of $ 62 resulting from their omission and they had an office worker tell me they wouldn’t be held accountable. I hear professional liability insurance covers errors and omissions. I guess we can’t count on what I consider to be competence or fairness from that company and they must not have insurance to protect us from their lack of ethics in covering mistakes.
If you also have issues with this group, write a letter of complaint to the TSBPA here in Austin and include the full name, business address and telephone number of the CPA or the CPA firm involved. In addition, include your complete contact information and copies of all documents relevant to your complaint.

New CPA firm for us but recommended by our retiring CPA. Our first mistake was trusting someone else’s judgement that they would be good and charge a fair price for their work. Returns were not done in a timely manner, no communication from them when they fired the CPA working on our returns, and it took 3 sets of returns for them to get it right. At this point, we’re hoping they’re correct. On top of that, they emailed us at 2:40 pm on Oct. 15^th and demanded payment in full by credit card or they would not file our tax returns. The most unprofessional group I’ve ever dealt with. Do not trust them! Rating needs to be a –10!!!
