Giving a low review to get attention. I want to like the food here. Most things I’ve tried have been ok. That said, I will probably never eat here again. They simply cannot get an order right. I order one dish and a totally different one shows up in the bag. I work in the area so I don’t catch the mistake until we are back at the office. The only 3 times I ate here they messed up our order. Order beef, get chicken. Order hot and sour soup, get miso. Order Beijing, get General Tso. Order veggie spring rolls, get pork egg rolls. Order side of rice, get no extra rice(even though it was on the receipt). It’s not a language barrier thing, these guys just lack attention to detail.

I could’ve sworn I already wrote a review of Hunan Riverplace, but I guess not, so here it goes! Understanding that I normally don’t like Americanized Chinese food — especially from a place that dabbles in Americanized Korean — you should impressed that I dig this place so much. Hunan Riveplace delivers consistently excellent food. The orange peel chicken has been absolutely perfectly fried every time I’ve ordered except once. Perfectly crispy with perfectly tender and moist chicken. Sweet flavor without being overwhelmed with sugars. My favorite hot and sour soup in town. The moo shoo pork is excellent — a saltiness balanced with the sweetness of plum sauce, the pork perfectly tender. There was one piece of meat that was gristly, but still, it was excellent. I’ll admit that the actual décor is cheesy, but it’s clean, neat, and bright. There seems to always be *just enough* seating when I go, and their delivery is quick, so long as you don’t order at lunchtime on a workday. Waits can get up to an hour and a half around noon. The service in person is quick and friendly. Lunch specials are a great bargain, and the menu has enough variety(including bi-bim-bop that’s actually pretty good) that you won’t get bored.

Amazing food and competitive prices. This place is a gem. The kids meals are a good value too. Love the orange chicken.

I was a frequent customer, but was so embarrassed to bring my visiting sister here at 2pm 12⁄23 and WASTURNEDAWAY! They were short a cook!!! What’s going on, Ray? Don’t expect me back anytime soon.

We ordered a roasted duck and a twice cocked pork, which are both very traditional Chinese dishes. The roasted duck was not roasted, but deep fried. And the twice cocked pork is no where close to what it should be. Not only the pork was not from the belly, but was not sliced into pieces. This might be good in Americans taste, but it is definitely not very Chinese. I am very regretful to have dinner there, and do not recommend this to Chinese friends. Oh, one more thing, we were not given chopsticks until I asked.

I was introduced to this place by Scotty G because this was his go to when he used to live nearby, but we have since made 31hr round trips from the Eastside when we get cravings. The orange peel chicken, General Tso chicken(both w/fried rice), potstickers, and cheese rangoons are where it’s at here and I cannot attest to anything else on the menu because that is literally our order EVERYSINGLETIME. I have always been baffled that I have not been able to find a decent go to take-out chinese place in ATX, but this place is always consistently good and they give you enough of a generous portion size that you can make two meals out of each chicken dish! The usual MO is to call in our order enroute and it is ready and waiting piping hot when we get there, so it is always a quick in and out. When placing food orders, the staff is always quick, courteous, and our order is always correct. Now if I can just convince them to open a location closer to the Eastside or Arboretum area so our visits aren’t so tri-monthly!

Oh God. What have I done? I find myself in the Riverplace neighborhood every few months, and I’ve eaten at most of the restaurants nearby. I wasn’t in the mood for BBQ or American, so I thought I’d give Hunan a try. Bad decision. I ordered the chicken lettuce wraps, which seemed like the healthiest option, which, along with a drink came to a whopping $ 12.95. My food came out looking relatively fresh, but it tasted like cardboard. And it was steaming, but cold at the same time, like some science experiment gone wrong. I ate one and a half wraps because I’m a cheapskate and can’t stand wasting food, but left most of it behind. Maybe I would have been better off ordering something battered and fried, but as of right now my stomach is churning and I’m going to be seriously hungry later while I’m at work and can’t get more food. Avoid this joint, or get the fried whatever. Bleck.

Quick service, good quality food for price and friendly staff. I’m really impressed by Hunan. I came there because I was in a bind on lunch time after having a bad experience waiting for food at a restaurant down the street. They reassured me on the time it would take for my food, and even beat their own time estimate by a considerable margin. The place is clean and cozy and I really like they put 3 kinds of sauce and condiments on the tables. The food was moderately tasty and filling, and they give a lot of it for the price. It’s no wonder they stay so busy. It is kind of strange they have Italian décor on the walls, but it made for a smile to see something incongruous for once rather than the ubiquitous faux décor you find in Asian cuisine. Most definitely a recommend for a quick meal on lunch.

This place has the BEST jap chae noodles I’ve ever had! It has the right amount of smoky and grilled flavor, not overwhelming with sesame seed oil. I wasn’t too thrilled about the pork egg roll. It was mostly a fried cabbage-y mess but everything else was great! They’re bib bim bop is pretty good too. The best thing about this place is that its not heavy with MSGs. The veggies are fresh and my noodles were cooked to perfection! The staff are really nice also! I think the family is Korean and they know how to serve a good gochijung! Cheers!

Wasn’t extremely impressed. They did deliver quickly which was good. But the food was just alright. The broccoli beef was decent but the honey chicken tasted like there was mayo in it, which is gross.

I don’t look forward to writing negative reviews, but unless one is imprisoned in the office parks nearby, I’d advise going elsewhere. While the staff is friendly and the entrees are relatively cheap, this is bland and surprisingly watery Chinese/Korean. See some of the photos posted by people here on Unilocal — I thought they were one-offs but no, what I got was very similar. Unfortunately if you like Asian cuisine, this place marks something of a black hole of good food, between Kawa on Quinlan /Saigon Café on Hudson’s Bend to the south and the Anderson Mill Road area to the north. This place gets 1 star on the ‘CTJ Scale’, as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing on after finishing a meal here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus’ Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn’t have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn’t have my penultimate supper here, either.

My wife and I recently moved to the area and Hunan Riverplace has now become our go to place when we to pick up a quick and tasty meal. Food is always good but more importantly the service is excellent! Tyler(the manager) is always friendly and makes you feel welcome.

This restaurant never disappoints. I have severe Gluten allergies and they are always so careful in prepping food for my family & so my daughter & I don’t have any adverse reactions. On top of that, the food is delicious, the serving sizes are perfect & the staff are just super friendly and helpful.

Got Beef Bulgogi and rice dinner combo for $ 12 to go, after open the box at home, found out half of the box is filled with soup. Bulgogi is suppose to be grilled marinated beaf, where’s the soup come from? Really bad Asian food experience, not happy

Let’s be clear: this is not good food. Let’s add another element to the equation. Its fast, and it’s hot. That’s the total review. If you work up on the top of the hill(2222) there aren’t that many places to eat. This is one that does a bang up business precisely because of that. The interior is small — maybe eight tables — but they do a lot of take out like the day I stopped by. Don’t get me wrong, the food isn’t bad(and yes, you can easily find bad Chinese food in the ATX) but it wasn’t good, wasn’t flavorful. Oddly they give you a lot of it — but a lot of band food is still, well, bland food. They’re busy, so if you do take-out and don’t call ahead, keep an eye on the counter as the food pops out since they can overlook things like calling out your name. Really, that’s all there is to say about this place.

Finding good food that is close by is sometimes easier said than done. Luckily I found Hunan Riverplace. My daughter lives nearby so I was thrilled to hear she was taking me to my favorite food– Chinese food. Their crab wontons were delicious and the big ol bowl of miso soup was perfect. To my surprise, they even had bulgogi which is one of my favorite Korean dishes. My grandson ate the chicken noodles and he ate every last drop which is amazing for a 3 yr boy who is as picky as can be. We will definitely be coming back and I can’t wait to try everything on the menu!

While delivery can take up to an hour to show up. The food is always quality. If only they could find a way to keep the fried meats from getting soggy along the way, but its the same for any delivery whether it be chicken wings from a pizza place or whatever. Although if you dine at the establishment, the quality is way better since its fresh. The fried items are nice and crispy. I do believe the restaurant could use some expanding. As they are quite popular. They would get more business if it were easier to move about during a rush. So the missing star would be due to the size of the establishment. Not to the food, or even the service. The atmosphere is very simple, not tacky or cliché.

So this place is close to my office and i have eaten here a handful of times. Its easy and fast reasonably priced(bit on the high side but the location gets a few more bucks out of you). Normally this place would get a three start rating BUT after last night it is a 2 almost a one. My daughter had a HS soccer game t the near by HS, decided to pick up a bit to eat while i watched, Chicken Basil Sacha for me(requested extra spicy) and Beef and Broccoli for my wife both with brown rice. So where od i begin with where things went wrong… So this was a call ahead pick up, it was done fast which was a plus, down side was this was for take out, no napkins in the bag and no silverware(had to ask). Now this alone isn’t that bad right? So off i go to the game, take the bag to the stands ready to freeze my butt off cheer for my daughters team and enjoy some food while i watched… sad face. It was not enjoyable, in my dish they put SOMUCH chili oil(I am assuming) that it was almost a soup, i had to pour literally POUR it out so i could try and eat it. It was bland and not even spicy, I think there might have been two basil leaves in the whole thing and maybe MAYBE2 ounces of chicken. I would rate it s C– if not a D in taste. The brown rice was mushy but yet«crunchy» centers, so in other words not cooked properly. Best part my wife had some tummy problems after she ate hers, like running to the restroom. So eaters beware.

I was not impressed. It was expensive for fast food and the flavors were just not to my taste.
