Put off cutting my hair too long because I hated the thought of finding a new stylist who KNEW what they were doing! Too many times trying to find the right stylist who would listen to my wishes but advise as well. Went on ‘yelp’ and saw reviews for J Buccio and made the appointment/​commitment! Loved the close location and was impressed with the small and BEAUTIFUL simplistic design of the salon! Jorge, the owner, was wonderful — fun, easy to talk to, VERY creative and dedicated to his profession! Highly recommend — so happy I found him!

Jorge is an artist! He loves hair, whether it is short or long. People always leave happy. I know I am, I have recommended him to everyone I know.

I’ve been seeing Afee since he owned his own place. He has always listened to me and has done what I wanted, as long as he knew it was going to look right. He will guide you in the right direction when you want something that your hair just won’t do. And when I decided that I wanted to go short, he wasn’t afraid to do it! Other stylists have always been afraid to cut my hair off, but Afee wasn’t! I love it! I wouldn’t see anyone else!

The salon is in a strip mall on the corner of William Cannon and West Gate. It has retail onsite so that you can usually purchase the products your stylist recommends. The interior is clean and modern and the stylist are welcoming. My stylist Noemi is a color expert that leaves my hair beautifully styled everytime!

Wow! That’s all I can say. Jorge did an outstanding job on my hair. He listened to what I wanted and I came out with a beautiful cut and color.

I have been looking for a good salon in Austin for some time — I have found it!

Noemi has been cutting my hair since I was 15 years old. There are a few people that I trust with my hair and I am lucky to have been able to have access to her when I moved to Austin. I will follow Noemi to any salon that she works at BUT I love J Buccio! Jorge treats me like family everytime I come and even when I don’t want a caffe latte he brings me one. J Buccio balances the high fashion professionalism with a down to earth, family feel that will keep me coming back.
P. S. I have long, curly hair and as a dude it is EXTREMELY difficult to find someone who can handle this mess. NOEMI what is going to happen when you join the midget circus?

I usually see Jorge, who has been my hair savior for the last year. After my last stylist moved I had been bouncing around for awhile. I realized I had been seeing amateurs the second Jorge touched his skilled and confident fingers to my head. Thank you Jorge for giving me good hair for the first time in a long time. I have gotten more compliments and given out your name more in the last year than ever before in my life. And my eyes roll back in my head when you shampoo my hair.
I have also occasionally seen Lolo and Naomi and have been equally enamored with my hair afterward. Particularly, Naomi just gave me bangs for the first time since I was nine. I was so nervous and she was just awesome and I just loooove love love them and have gotten sooo many compliments in the last week and every time I was reminded that I have been wanting to Unilocal them.
The atmosphere is relaxed and very casual. The salon is in a strip mall so there’s always parking, and once you get inside the salon is modern and pretty and stylish. Love it.

Miss Lolo is simply the BEST!!! My daughter who is a total brat when it comes to her hair and has had stylist to the celebrities in NYC do her hair through out her life, in Austin she LOVES Lolo! Lolo knows what you want and what’s best for you the second she looks at you. When you sit at her chair, you truly experience relaxation because she is not the type of stylist that doesn’t shut up trying to convince you that they know what they are doing. You will immediately feel a sense of confidence with Lolo. She wont have to tell you that she graduated from a prestigious beauty school or that she does this or that for you to know that she knows better than anyone else what she is going to with your style. If you really want to relax at the shampoo bowl, you are in for a treat!!! Wherever Lolo goes, my daughter and I, will go!

Don’t let the strip-​mall surroundings fool you. J Buccio is the real deal. I originally found this place through Unilocal when I moved here last summer, and Rhonda did my hair and made it as gloriously straight as it’s ever been in my life — which is saying a lot. But by the time I got around to coming back she had moved on, so Jorge, the owner, saw me. He’s wonderful — fun, easy to talk to. And the look of sheer creative genius on his face while he dried my hair at the end said it all: this is a guy who cares about his work.
I kind of hate salons in general, but J Buccio isn’t so fancy-​schmancy that I feel out of place. Plus, I thought the price was reasonable: around $ 100 for a cut and some basic highlights.

Done and done.
I’ve found my place and hopefully I don’t have to find a new stylist for a really long time. (Are you listening, Lolo? You’re not allowed to go anywhere!)
I made the leap, finally, after years of «growing out» my hair. I just don’t do well with long hair. Yes, it’s beautiful and thick and curly, but it sucks to have to fix it every day. Which means that it’s either curly and unruly or in a pony tail. That is why I decided to chop it all off. I took in a picture of Elisha Cuthbert’s cute, short cut, and Lolo was like «Sit down, let’s get to work!»
See, I had just gone in to see what she thought about it… but here I was… making the decision whether or not to go through with it.
«You seem ready…» Lolo said… she could tell I was having second thoughts… finally I sat down and said, «What the hell!»
So she went to cutting. Can I just say that when she turned me around, for the first time in my life… I felt like a cut was meant just for me? I hugged and squeezed her because I was so happy. It was exactly what I wanted… without even really knowing it.
See, she didn’t just cut it like the picture I’d brought in. She made sure to tell me that she was going to do that «style», but in a way that would flatter my hair type. Boy did she ever! It’s adorable. I can leave the house with it wet or blow it dry.
I will be a loyal customer for as long as Lolo will have me!

Noemi has been cutting my hair for several years. I’m not very ‘girly’ and don’t like to spend a lot of time or effort on my looks — but with a great haircut and recommendations for some very good product — I’m able to look great without expending a ton of effort.
I have been very pleased with her consistently high quality of service she has been able to offer me over the years, as well as the very reasonable prices and extremely comfortable low key but good vibe atmosphere at J Buccio.

After losing my stylist from Jackson Ruiz almost 3 years ago, I have been salon-​hopping ever since. Until now. Getting a haircut is always a last-​minute deal for me — I usually wake up one day and decide that I need a cut. Now. So last Friday on my day off (because it was my birthday and wanted to spoil myself) I did a little Unilocal map search and found this salon just around the corner from my house. I was happy to hear that Jorge, the owner, had an open spot, so I made my appointment and went in late that afternoon.
It’s a simple little salon, but very airy and clean, and you would never guess it was tucked away into that shopping center unless you were looking for it. When I got there, Jorge was still working on his previous client but offered me a drink while I waited. I used to love Jackson Ruiz and other high-​end salons because of the ambiance and the feeling of like going to a spa, but I’m in a different financial situation now and I’ll trade that for a good price and great attitude any day (I always felt like the staff at those salons were snobby, and Jorge is anything but!).
As we sat down for my consult, I immediately felt like he knew what he was talking about. I had mentioned that I needed my bangs trimmed, but he said that he would do something that would have movement, as if I were standing in front of a fan or something. Cool, I trust ya.
So as he cut my hair and chatted, I learned that Jorge is SUPER passionate about fashion and hair. He is constantly learning about new techniques and teaches, too. It was SO refreshing to find a stylist who actually loves his job and isn’t burned out by doing the same thing day after day. Even before my hair was dry, I loved the cut! And then he blew it out and it was AWESOME! And since it was my birthday and I was on my way to a makeup appointment and then headed downtown, he styled it out with some amazing curls! He is REALLY good at what he does and the prices are unbeatable! I can’t tell you the last time I left a salon LOVING the cut and feeling BEAUTIFUL.
From what I’ve read here he’s amazing at color, and we talked about some options for my color (although I’m trying to hold out on hilights this summer) but I just *might* have to stop by before leaving town and see what that talk is all about. I’m even planning to come back to Austin to get my hair cut by Jorge after I move to Ft. Worth! I guess it’s worth the wait to find that one great stylist once again :)

Lolo at J. Buccio Salon gives amazing haircuts! I came in and said, chop it off. She looked at me and said, «I have some ideas. Let’s go!» What turned out was a style which suits me perfectly. She’s fantastic!

This is a gem of a salon in South Austin. The owner Jorge has a way with hair, even a wild mane like mine. (I’m not exaggerating about the mane. I have literally been asked by a previous hairdresser to kindly comb out my own damn hair after the shampoo because it was too thick and unruly.) Jorge managed to embrace my unruly curls so I don’t have to spend an hour trying to tame them every day. It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to wash your hair and go, knowing that it’s not going to dry into something that looks like birds should be nesting in it. I placed my mom (the genetic source of my problem locks) in his capable hands and he was able to part her from the «helmet» hair that so many Texan women in their 50s feel forced into and gave her an amazingly modern cut that was adorable and easy to maintain.
Jorge’s coworker, Naomi cuts and colors my friend’s hair and she always does a fantastic job. You really can’t go wrong with either of them. All that talent, good conversation skills (very important) and very reasonable at only $ 40 for a cut and style!!!

I just got a FANTASTIC hair cut from Jorge Buccio. I have been hopping from one stylist to another since I move to Austin over three years ago. Up until today each haircut has been a gamble I have tragically lost.
He sculpted my atrocious hair that could accurately be described as a cross between Friar Tuck and K.D. Lang into a style that Rhianna would be proud to don. I feel pretty. And pretty smart for paying a really good price!
