Disappointing. I could tell that the toppings would have tasted good if the crust wasn’t burnt to the point that it wasn’t edible. Half of a four dollar slice of pizza went straight to the trash.

Wouldn’t necessarily call this gourmet pizza, but when barhopping on 6th St, this sould be the pizza stop. In my opinion, it’s much better than places like Roppolo’s & their prices are around the same. Several different pizza-slice styles; you’re guaranteed to find something you like. & if you don’t want to eat it on the street or sidewalk, you can walk into The Jackalope or Chupacabra & enjoy your slice over a cold beer or whatever your poison of choice is, since they all 3 share the same owners.

I’ve tried pizza all over Austin and all over the US. When critiquing pizza I like to get a slice of cheese and then a slice with pepperoni. So I can really tell how good the pizza is plain. This is pretty close to good NY/East Coast Pizza. They generally have the crust just right. I consider Jack’s the Best Pizza in Austin proper. Consistency can be an issue for any place that sells pizza by the slice with erratic traffic. I’ve got to come by with some friends and order a whole pie sometime, but I’ll have to be sure to ask for a crispy crust. Sometimes pizza doesn’t get that crunch I like if it isn’t heated back up.

For what it is and where it is, it’s good. Pizza options suck on Dirty 6th: Hoboken is rude, Death Metal gives me death metal of the butt, and Roppollos is well… Roppollos. I wanted to eat something before catching Django Unchained at the Drafthouse. The crust was light and crispy. I got the meat-lover. It was exactly what I expected: protein, cheese, and grease. Meh, better than Roppollos, better than spending $ 30 at the Drafthouse, and no regrets the next morning.

Totally sober and a huge pizza snob. This was surprisingly good; had the meat combo — nice and hot, very foldable, a bit light on sauce, but solid. Liked it a lot!

Let’s be honest, no matter what night of the week it is, it’s simply not ok for the dude at the counter to be so wasted that he can barely keep his eyes open. It’s around Midnight on a ‘school’ night and I really needed something to eat. I won’t eat Roppolo’s and this was the only quick option on the block. Homeboy at the counter was moving real slow and seemed really confused. Definitely not somebody that is going to keep an eye on quality. The slice I paid $ 4 for was dried out and even had a sizable hole in the crust. Definitely not my idea of a good value. Next time, I’m going to walk over to Hoboken.

The pizza here is surprisingly good. On 6th street, surrounded by bad pizza, this is the place to go get a slice if you don’t feel like walking to The Onion.

Okay… I don’t know if it’s just when you’ve been drinking on 6th all night that this pizza is THAT good to me, but it’s always the perfect thing to me. It’s greasy and sops up that alcohol. But everyone is talking about, if we were sober, would be like it? Well I don’t know the answer to that, but I do know that the SAME day I had pizza at Home Slice. I was SO disappointed in the pizza I had there. Then we came here later in the evening and all of us agreed this pizza was better. Take what you want from that.

Southbound, 35… Miles and miles of southbound 35 and still a while from SA, Hubby and I were hungry and decided to hit up a slice on 6th street. Wouldn’t you know that the first two places we checked out on Unilocal did not even open until past our bed time? It was 5:30pm and we were not going to wait until 10pm… so we checked out Jack’s! The last time we had been here the time was 1:45am, after a Saturday night of fun earlier this year. Alright, and the sober review is… drumrolll…A-OK! No delicate gourmet flavors here, just a huge slice of pizza! Really, one slice might as well be two — so the $ 10 we spent on three slices was just fine as that set us straight for dinner. Give me a huge slice on a paper plate and see me stand around and eat it on the street corner — that’s Jack’s. Enjoy, bravo.

I had Jack’s in the late afternoon because I just felt like a quick slice. It was the worst. The pizza slices were so dried out it literally tasted like greasy cardboard. I think I remember having this pizza fresh late at night when I experienced my first SXSW and it was awesome. Steer clear during the day or you’lllll beeee saaaaa-wrrry.

When you’re drunk and hungry, who can remember how good the pizza was? Sure it’s overpriced, but at 2am on 6th St. this is as good as it gets. Giddy up.

I suspect that if I was sober when I had Jack’s pizza I might give them 3 stars, but since it was 2AM when I stumbled out of the new Chupacabra Bar next door and desperately needed something to eat, Jack’s was there for me! The pizza is big, thin, greasy, and they send it through a conveyor oven to warm it up. Jack’s has only been open a little while, but seems like a welcome addition to the bar hopping heaven that is Austin’s own East 6th Street.
