Jenn’s Copy & Binding

There was a typo on one page of my dissertation which caused them to misspelled the title on my dissertation which cost $ 150 to print and bind. There were three pages with the title and instead of using the first page, which was the one I checked, they used the second. While it was a typo on my part there two other pages that could have been used to double check. In order to fix this it would cost another $ 75 to fix. I was very disappointed that after charging me t$ 150 they were not able to confirm the title with one of the others.

A very frustrating experience. Website is circa 1995. Color printing is over priced compared to other companies. Staff is friendly but unqualified.

I use a lot of printing services around town for work and have sampled various vendors around Austin for five years. The north location of Jenn’s has become my go-​to for anything that isn’t huge and fancy (e.g., multicomponent, expensive orders requiring offset printers with huge capacity and a dedicated account rep.)
I use Jenn’s for most of my invitations, postcards, brochures, and color copies. They do good work and are always helpful. They make good suggestions about the best way to print my pieces. At this point, they remember me. Their prices and service are miles better than Kinkos, and, quite unlike Kinkos, I always leave with a smile on my face (and sometimes with a $ 0.50 diet coke in my hand).
Jenn’s will deliver to my office, which is even better.
The bulk of their business appears to come from course packets, and their online order form seems to be geared accordingly. If you are doing some other type of job, I suggest calling or emailing instead.

Jenn is so helpful and friendly! She makes course packets so easy to do — they scan the articles/​books and obtain copyright info for you (a professor’s dream!). The prices are very competitive and work is done very quickly.
I’ve also had my dissertation and thesis binded here and it looks great.
I cannot say enough about how helpful they have been every time I’ve worked with them. They are also very friendly. I’m surprised people have had negative experiences — I’ve been using Jenn’s for years and keep going back because I have no complaints about service, quality, or pricing.

If you talk with Jenn, you will be well taken care of. She has been saving my tail end with quick and accurate turn-​around since fall of 2009. I send in big, complicated printing and binding orders twice a year for work, and Jenn has become my go-​to printer.
I would highly recommend giving Jenn a call if you are in a bind (no pun intended). :)
EDIT: I never use their online order form, but I always call and talk to Jenn, and then follow up with an email detailing my order.

Upon completion of my senior thesis (PRAISE THE LONGHORN GODS THAT SMILE DOWN UPON MY PRINTER), I sent an order to Jenn’s for 5 bound copies (you know, in case I lose four… heh).
The e-​form I submitted was riddled with mistakes upon processing, which befuddles me to no end. Fortunately, that’s nothing a few follow up phone calls couldn’t fix.
They told me that they could finish my order in 4 hours. Wow! I told them I would swing by in three days to pick it up– that’s 68 EXTRA hours! Lo and behold, they were still unfinished when I arrived 68 hours later. I’m just glad there was just a few minutes of waiting around while they finished the binding (allowing them to dodge a deadly Unilocal bullet) and I left with five properly bound copies of my thesis, no mistakes, and no outrageous pricing.

Jenn’s is always hit or miss. Why, you might ask? Well, customer service was always dependent on who you were dealing with.
I’ve had wonderful experiences where they were generous and would comp me a few copies to be nice. (Without request.)
I’ve had terrible experiences where they quoted me a price for a job and then once ready to pay for said job the price was no longer valid. They made a mistake and demanded that I pay the price for their mistake. Heh. No.
The print and binding work was ok, not great.
In the end, you get what you pay for. Sometimes you get a little more, sometimes a little less.

I really hate writing a bad review about a local business, but after leaving in tears this afternoon I feel it is important.
About 11:00 AM, I spoke to a man at Jenn’s over the phone and was quoted a price for copying and binding a report. I emailed the document and was told it would be ready by 1:00. When I arrived about 1:20, the employees (not the employee on the phone earlier) did not have the order ready or in process, though they did find my email. As they started the order, I asked about the pricing because I was already concerned about the order not even being in queue. I was told the total would be a price about 50% higher than what was quoted on the phone.
At this point, I objected, stating exactly what I was quoted on the phone earlier. Things turned way south. I was rudely told they did not offer services at that price, that I had NOT been quoted the service at that price and I would not be receiving ‘a discount’. It was in no uncertain terms implied that I was lying and trying to cheat the employees out of their services. As I was in a serious hurry to get my reports turned in and had been expecting a finished product when I walked in the door, I paid (again, almost 50% more than quoted). The reports were bound correctly and quickly, and I wish the customer service would match the quality of product they produced.

I think I might have helped pay for Jenn’s kids’ college education, I spent so much money having copies made here. Conveniently located across the street from the Communications building, they would even stay open late the night before critiques (I was an advertising major) if we called and asked.
Like most things in Austin, you usually get better service from places that are locally owned. They are always pretty patient and won’t make you pay for a bad copy, even when it’s probably your fault. Service is obviously a million times better than any Kinkos, but unfortunately they’re not open 24 hours.
