Jiffy Lube

They told me 45 mins and it’s now been 2 hours for a tire rotation/​oil change. Nothing «jiffy» about that!

I am writing this review because I totally agree with the Unilocaler Taylor T. In a word, this place is a scam. My situation is almost the same with Taylor. Three months later, they still do the same thing: force you to do the significant service – before explaining what it is– and use the synthetic oil (price ranging from about 50 to 100). If you insist using the conventional oil, they will say nothing. When everything is done and you got to pay the bill, they will «kindly» remind you of the danger the oil it may cause. I asked why they didn’t say that earlier, the woman gloated with a «smile» and did not say anything. After I paid almost 50 dollars, all I get is bad attitude and wrong type of oil.
I give 1-​star review because:
1.Lack of communication. I clearly said I only wanted to have a oil change, nothing else. But they did not do as I said. And they never explained what is the result of your choice.
2. This place is pricey. I know this place’s location may contribute to its high price, but $ 50 for one-​time oil change in Austin. You must be kidding me.
3. Never believe the ad outside, it says $ 29.99. But we all know that is not true.

Dropped by for an annual state inspection. They weren’t busy; just a guy washing the back window of an SUV when I pulled up. He approached. The patch on his shirt said «manager.» So far, so good. I ask him about an inspection and he hesitates for a moment then points to a crack in my windshield, and tells me that it won’t pass. I reply that I’d looked up the rules and found that a cracked windshield isn’t on the state checklist. He insisted otherwise — clearly he just didn’t want to be bothered with it. I drove off as he returned to window washing. I went to a shop a few blocks north and the car passed inspection with no issue or mention of the crack.
If the manager there is so lazy that he’ll make up bogus excuses not to do an inspection, I certainly wouldn’t trust him or his employees to perform an oil change or other work. I won’t be coming back.

So first off I have the guy with a 3 tears tattoo from the other jiffy lube on N Lamar lie to me about calling this store to see if they have my filter. And then I get lectured by the rude sexist jerk about how I have no right to be pissed about the other guy lying to me. And «Why don’t just change my oil myself. It isn’t that hard.» Way to go with truly crappy customer service Jiffy Lube.
I did visit the other Jiffy Lube regularly with my 5 vehicles. Guess I’ll go elsewhere now.

Usually love Jiffy Lube, but the oil change service is a scam — came in to get my oil changed and asked for good quality synthetic. Turns out they will not sell the synthetic oil without the «signature service» which includes vacuuming, tire pressure, and fluids check for an additional $ 40, making the whole cost over $ 90. This would have been fine, but I needed none of those things. Just the oil.
I told them I wasn’t going to pay for that and they informed me that they’d already drained the oil. With no other choice, I just went with the regular non-​synthetic $ 29.99 oil change. Afterwards they informed me that my vehicle only takes synthetic oil, so that I’ll have to be careful to only use that moving forward.
The overall lack of communication was pretty upsetting. Last time I’ll be using this service. The only reason I’m giving any stars at all is because a different employee stepped in to help smooth things over who was much nicer and more communicative.

This location is full of a bunch of crooks. I went there for a normal oil change, and they originally said they would charge me over $ 100. I then said no thanks, I will just go somewhere else, so they said ok, we can do our signature synthetic blend and a tire rotation for $ 60. That sounded a lot more reasonable, so I left my car and went on my way. They never called me to tell me my car was finished and ready to be picked up, until I called. They then did not give me the oil type promised, but a conventional oil. They did complete any of the things they include on their «signature» changes, for example vacuum the carpets. This is the first and last time I will ever be going to this location. Customer service was also very poor. I am not happy at all with this service.

Thanks for getting my oil changed quickly! Great customer service and always at a great price. I will return to this location next time I need an oil change.

I was very happy with my experience at this location. I went for an oil change and tire rotation but didn’t end up getting either because I was told I could wait a little longer. Kollin was extremely helpful and attentive. He checked my tires before I even got out of the car, and let me choose whether to have them rotated or not since they didn’t really need it. He made sure not to ‘up-​sell’ me on anything or convince me to get something I didn’t need.
I knew I needed a new battery and brought this up to the mechanic. He quickly checked the status of the battery and determined it did need to be replaced. They had the battery my car needed in stock and replaced it within 20 minutes (even when they were really busy!).
I will definitely be coming back here for my next oil change/​service.

Very unprofessional and lazy employees here.
Went on a saturday afternoon to get my state inspection done.
Was rejected because my window tint was 22%, and the norms are only 25% and above.
I got home removed the window tint, showed up back again at 4pm. But this time the lady was like we close at 5, the inspection station is already closed at blah blah, notice that they are supposed to be open till around 6 or 7.
And for a vehicle that passed all environmental norms earlier I don’t even know why you need to conduct the test again. If you failed for window tints, re check tints and be on your way but no! that’d be too clever for them.
I showed up next day around 4:30, got the same answer, no one is here to do state inspection here. All employees are gone, station is broken.
Now my only guess was since this is my second time inspection within 15 days, they had to do it for free according to the state law. and may be they didn’t want to do that.
Third time same disappointment. I decided to go to 38^th and lamar jiffy lube and got it done finally.

Went to this jiffy lube today to get my car inspected. The guy doing my inspection told me that my wipers had a tear and needed to be replaced. He said I could get them there for $ 14 a piece or I could do it myself elsewhere. I clarified that if I didn’t get them replaced at that moment would my car fail the inspection he said yes. I said ok then replace them. When I was called to the counter to check out the young man informed me that my car failed the inspection. I was dumb founded. I said for what reason? He said a crack in my windshield failed me. I said then why did the other guy tell me that he’d fail my car if I didn’t get my wipers replaced? He said he didn’t know and went to find the guy who did my inspection. Needless to say I demanded my old wipers to be put back on my car and told him that he should have never told me that my car would pass by replacing the wipers. I paid my $ 18 and then the third person I had contact with at this place told me I had 15 days to come back for a reinspection. I will never, ever go back to this or any other jiffy lube again.

So the Jiffy Lube on Guad wouldn’t change my oil filter because I have a header, but this one would. The service was quick and the staff was courteous, attentive, and explained everything in detail, which did feel a bit like up-​selling at some points, but was still appreciated.
Two people complimented me on my car. This isn’t always what mechanics do. Some mechanics bag on a car in order to create insecurity and sell unnecessary service or unnecessary new cars. So I appreciated that the technicians here made me feel proud of my vehicle.
I also noticed that there is at least one female on staff, who performed a function just as important as anyone else’s, and it seemed like a very progressive, diverse, and gender-​egalitarian place to work. I will be getting my oil changed here from now on.

3 hrs later and they just tell me that my oil change is done but they can do my state inspection because our computer just went down… but you can drive down to are other locations (20 minutes away) to have it done. Get to the 2^nd location he said it will be a 45 minutes wait because the guys out to lunch.

I went here for an oil change, brought my own synthetic oil and filter, and was told it would be $ 35. I thought that was high, so I asked if it was seriously $ 35 just for labor. She told me I could get it for $ 25 but for $ 35 they «topped off my other fluids», etc. I declined and got the «value oil change.» Someone came into the waiting room soon after and said they recommended I rotate my tires. I asked how much it was, and they said over $ 20, so I declined. I was then told that the filter I brought was the wrong size and I would need to purchase one of theirs, which I thought was questionable, but I did it anyway.
After speaking to a friend who went to the jiffy lube on riverside and was charge UNDER $ 30 for an oil change without bringing their own oil, I am insulted. I feel that I was jipped, and I no longer trust this place.

Could not have asked for a better experience. It was fast, and the staff were BEYOND friendly. Not in the fake, annoying way. Like, I just had a good time talking to them. Nat and Angelo were awesome, and they went above and beyond and even helped DISASSEMBLE MY GIRL’S BIKE so it could fit in my car. I was driving across the country, and they offered awesome, helpful advice for my road trip. They cleaned bugs off my windshield and other parts of my car, too. All I went in for was an oil change, and I know the window thing is included in ‘other services’ but they’re not required to clean dead bugs off the front of your side mirrors. But they did.
Best. Jiffy. Lube. Ever.

I went in for a routine inspection. The person on site for inspections asked me if I had had my brakes looked at recently. I informed her I had not. She said she was going to have to fail me because my car was shaking as the brakes were applied. She kept asking me very technical questions about my car, as if I know more about cars than she does. It was a very confusing experience. Eventually she agreed to not fail me, but not pass me either. It was a waste of time basically.
I took my car into NTB and there is NOTHING wrong with my brakes and they were able to complete my inspection no problem. I don’t know what is going on with Jiffy Lube, but this location needs a better on-​site inspector I think…

Always go to this place because it’s a great location. They’ll help me with anything– even tire pressure check and they’re super fast.
Recently we had a car emergency for my friend who was driving back to Houston. It was a Sunday with no mechanic shops open, I just tried to local jiffy lube with the hopes that they could at least point us in the right direction. They went above and beyond an finless than 15 minutes Justin solved our problem. Our fear was not easy– even triple a wouldn’t send out someone to help us. Justin saved us towing the car and waiting until Monday for a mechanic shop. Justin also created a makeshift tool for my friend to used in the between time to get her home safely.
A big thanks to the jiffy lube place!

Mike with JiffyLube made this right, new sticker issued at no cost to me. Very friendly service, he’s definitely dedicated to improving customer experiences! I think I just had a bad experience, plan to do business with them in the future.

Motorcyclists avoid this location! I showed up to renew my inspection and after waiting an hour and a half they fumbled with the inspection sticker so much I had to tape it to the bike to get it to stick. Unprofessional service and a complete lack of respect towards doing their job correctly.

BUYER BEWARE!!.
The service was quick as I was the only one there.
I asked for the basic $ 24.99 oil change. After being there for several minutes, the salesman comes in and tells me that they are «out» of my oil. The only way I can get out of there with an oil change would be to purchase their $ 64.00 oil change.
They were apologetic, of course, but didn’t offer to do anything extra for the oil change that was 2.5 times more than I expected to pay.
My car was in dire need of an oil change and I was on a time crunch – so I purchased the ridiculously expensive oil change but I’ll never patronize a Jiffy Lube again.

So, this morning, on the way to work, I realize that one of my fog lights is out. I decided to stop here on the way home from the office.
I’ll give them two stars for relatively quick service and a price that wasn’t astronomical (just over $ 27).
The service is what tops them out at two stars. The first employee wasn’t sure if they could replace fog lights, so she had to find someone else. The guy who replaced my fog light told me that there was water in the lenses and he could work on them if I wanted. He also told me that he didn’t think the light ever worked. Finally, it took quite a while for them to come in to do the checkout — and they couldn’t figure out how to ring me up for just the light replacement.
At least I didn’t trust this group with an oil change today.
