I kept coming. I took my first class in Judo here in February of this year. Yesterday, I went to my first Judo competition – I placed second, with four wins and one loss. Though having only received a yellow, my category had me facing anyone under brown in my weight class. This is a testament to the quality of instruction this place provides. I went against people who had been studying Judo for two years or more. Kokoro has evolved in the time since I started earlier this year. The workout has been reduced, the instruction has increased in quality and duration, the syllabus has been strengthened and more thought was put into ranking. There are at any given night 3 to seven black belts present. Randori time has been lengthened. The class has grown, and there is a wide variety of opponents. We attract high quality people, and we keep them. I’m proud to be a part of this school. I’m so grateful they are part of this community. Thank you, Glenn.

I have gone to kokoro judo club for more than a year but i have practiced judo for quite some time. It’s a non profit club so all we collect every month is nominal mat fee of $ 20 and if you’re stressed thin for a month or two, you don’t even have to pay for it. We have a good balance of breadth and depth in cover judo techniques. In couple practices, we cover 1 popular throw only, but in other practice we cover multiple throw from Kodokan’s Gokyo. We have a handful of judoka that are still fighting in tournament so there are a lot of sparring both standing and ground work. There are many folks from BJJ background training here, so you can learn a lot of different things I highly recommend the club given how it offers the best value around Austin

I have been attending Kokoro Judo since March, and have loved every session! Most of the members are brown belt and black belt, which gave me a lot of learning experience(I am only a white belt). The instructors are all super friendly, and are more than willing to slow down for beginners like me. Its free to check out, and only $ 20 a month to join! :)
