Truly the definition of average. The food itself comes out VERY bland(we suspected it’s to appease the parents of all the children in the joint) but the salsa bar does help you punch things up. But not too much, because it’s only been two weeks yet I can’t for the life of me remember what I ordered. I just feel bad for the people who order to go without knowing how flavorless everything in their bag is going to be and thus didn’t stock up on salsas before leaving.

5.8.15 on the hunt for something to shove in my gullet and calm my stomach. I passed this place for years and once pulled in only to leave for lack of parking. On this day however the place wasn’t yet packed. Patrons were starting to arrive but I still got a seat where I wanted. The ambience of the place is okay. Think chipotle or freebirds just a little cheaper and not as flavorful. I grabbed a burrito combo with chips and a drink. My first outing I went with the chicken. It wasn’t the greatest thing but I have tasted worst. The place isn’t classic or authentic Mexican food. You may be satisfied by what they offer for selection. My 3 stars are for a clean place and middle of the road food. By memory the price isn’t what I would pay for what’s offered but hey I was hungry. If I return I would opt for something different.

I actually really like this place. Very reasonable prices and the taquitos are wonderful. Fast, friendly service. Their salsa bar has some great choices as well. Never been disappointed! I used to live nearby and moss this place. I stop by whenever I am in the area. Great food!

I ordered a potato and egg breakfast taco with cheese. It tasted like someone boiled a potato, cut it up, cooked some eggs an hour ago, pulled some cheese out of a bag and rolled it in a store bought flour tortilla. It was uninspired and bland. If I cooked that meal for myself at home, I would be embarrassed; it’s certainly not worth paying for.

Found this place on Unilocal!(as I find so many good places). Ordered breakfast tacos: 1 potato and egg, 1 bean and cheese. Homemade salsa(perhaps a bit salty), good chunks of potato, prompt and cheerful service. They offer corn tortillas. Now for the good part: the very best beans I have ever had in a breakfast taco! I will be back when I am in the neighborhood. I bet they are amazing for lunch!

Love love this place! We eat here for lunch about once a week of not more! The tortilla soup is by far my favorite. Co-workers enjoy the chile line salad a lot. They are always so wonderful and pleasant. Super quick too.

How do you screw up a taco? Seriously? My 9 year-old son order 3 crispy tacos. They were crispy alright. The shells were black! Burned! The lettuce was brown! Wilted! Just unacceptable to serve food like that. It was obvious to anyone looking at the plate that this was just wrong.

I got the grande burrito and it was great! The staff was very friendly. The salsas are great. I was at an 8 and La Salsas made chipotle look like a 5. 10⁄10 would eat here again when i have munchies.

Can’t live without this place. We go at least twice a week. And now they have breakfast tacos starting on Monday? Nice.

I was in the Far West area running an errand around lunchtime and popped in this place… Quite possibly the worst Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. I understand that it’s a fast food type format so I can even forgive a little. I ordered enchilada platter. The enchilada sauce tasted almost exactly like Spaghetti-o sauce and was topped with a generous portion of sour cream. Black beans were okay, about as good as any other canned beans. Rice was terrible. The salsa bar was okay and it was fast which is why I gave 2 stars rather than just one. 2 stars is very generous in my opinion. With so many delicious taquerias in town I can’t fathom why someone would eat here.

The Queso is good but the fish was super dry and tough to eat. I like a lot of the other food, the burritos are bomb but yeah the fish was hard to get down.

This place is a gem and I’ve probably eaten there more times than any other restaurant in Austin. They used to have a location in Westlake that unfortunately closed. There was one in Southpark Meadows for a short time too. This location has been in town for quite a while. Anytime I’m heading North in that area, near lunch time, I ALWAYS think about stopping by. The food is consistent and service is always prompt and polite. I cannot review anything except their Baja Shrimp Tacos, which is the only thing I’ve eaten there for at least 10 years now. 2 grilled shrimp tacos, with cabbage, avocado, ranch dressing and some chips. They have a very nice variety of freshly made salsas and I really like their Mango Salsa. Funny story about this extremely underrated, terrific little place. I did a job interview a few years back nearby with two very nice woman who drove down from Dallas to interview me. The interview went well and as I was leaving I asked if they were staying in town or going back. They said they were going to have some lunch and go back. I asked if they liked shrimp and when they said they did, I told them they had to go to La Salsa. They did. They loved the shrimp tacos. I got the job. I’m still working in it! If you’ve never tried their shrimp tacos, you’re missing out on a great, inexpensive meal.

Love this place. Fast, inexpensive, and they have delicious quesadillas filled with meat and lots of grilled veggies. In my experience, the staff are professional and responsive to customer requests. No complaints. The salsa bar is just fine. Aside from Torchy’s, this neighborhood is pretty sparse when it comes to TexMex cuisine. If you have a craving only a quesadilla can satisfy, this place will hit the spot.

I had a chicken quesadilla here. It was awhile ago so I think it was the fajita chicken quesadilla. I was unimpressed by the size until I started eating. It was huge, delicous and the chicken was tender n moist. I ended up taking the other half home and finishing it later. Chips & queso was meh. Id give it a C+. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. Tried a few of their sauces from the salsa bar. Would like the mango salsa to be better diced to fit on a chip better. Its tasty but you could use a fork to eat the mango chunks. Overall id come here again. Give it a shot, its a quaint and homey Mexican place. No queso for me though.

My coworker picked some food for me on the way back to the office. On a scale from 1 – 10, I would give this place a 7. The rice had no taste as well as the carne asada. They should add a little seasoning to their food. Aside from that it was okay for the price. I would go back again during work hours!

Someone call 9−1−1! I will never step foot in this place ever again. The nastiest Mexican food I’ve ever ate in my life! I barely made it home, and still didn’t make it to my toilet without getting sick after eating here. I don’t remember ordering the explosive diarrhea with my meal! Now I’m spending my Saturday afternoon in bed, nauseous as hell, stomach boiling, and sick with diarrhea. Oh dear patrons of Austin run. Run far far away from this place. Don’t suffer the consequences like we did. To add to this, my steak taco smelled like burnt ass. One bite and I tossed it to the side. Rice — better then expected. Salsa bar — only two tasted like anything at all. The rest were water. Quesadilla — I’d rather eat the one at Taco Bell. For being such a flavorless place, I can’t believe we’re so sick off of it! Lord Almighty help me. If I die tonight, someone please come save my dog.

How many ways do I love thee, salsa bar? Let me count the ways: Fire roasted tomato Mexicana Buena Caliente Mango Avocado Habanero Verde I’m mad for the Avocado salsa, a creamy, spicy green sauce, that I pour on everything I eat and sometimes on myself. The fire roasted bowl is my go-to dish here. It is loaded with black beans, roasted zuccini, fresh broccoli, carrots, corn and spicy salsa. It is both tasty and healthy with half the food pyramind in one bowl. I skip the rice layer for less carbs. A basket of free warm tostado chips comes with every meal.
