Charming wine-tasting room run by wonderfully friendly people, on the first floor of the Oasis shopping complex out on Comanche Trail Road. While I’m not a huge fan of the Oasis itself for the food, the view and the experience is definitely worth a visit to the complex — and the Lakeview Winery is a definite must-visit. The tastings are well balanced between reds and whites. Each of my friends(some of whom like red, others like white, and né’er the twain shall meet) found wines that they liked enough to buy! Of special note on either count is Lakeview’s own Cabernet, a great-with-a-steak red, and the delightful ‘Sweet White’, which is a mix of white wine and vivid peach flavors. Highly recommended for a wine-tasting visit, especially if you’d like to mix it with the amazing views out at the Oasis. Pro Tip: Most of the shops at the Oasis run rather ‘relaxed’ hours outside of Sat-Sun. If you come on a weekday, allow 10 – 15 minutes past the opening time for many of the shop owners to set up.

Owners were very friendly, and the winds were very tasty. We enjoyed a tasting here at the bar, decided on which ones we liked and bought some bottles. They have worked out deals where you can even buy a bottle from their place and take it to some of the other businesses in the immediate area and drink your wine there, which is a plus if you’re trying to bar hop around the area. We will return!

This place was a quaint stop in for a quick wine tasting with my mother in law on her visit. The olive oil & vinegar selection was good for a quick tastebuds a little over flavored as opposed to the flavors lightly resting on the back end. The pours for the tasting were so small and unmeasured and for the price not worth it. The server did not seem to have the full breadth of a classic sommelier and we were left to chance being not at all pleased with some of the selection recommended to us. I would recommend you just pick a wine and get a glass. You are paying for the take home glass, not the wine anyhow. I looked to our left at two gals who’s tasting pours were favorable compared to company and myself. This very well could have been because our server misunderstood a simple question about what people from this area usually prefer in a Texas grape as a racial comment by my small Greek mother in law. It was quickly resolved, but his misunderstanding led to a very uncomfortable and unwelcome exchange. I would return to purchase a bottle of desert vino should I find myself nearby.

While this gem is a bit off the beaten path, it is well worth the trip. We did the $ 10 tasting and ended up buy 2 bottles of white wine. They have a selection of wine trinkets that are pretty cool — we bought several. The lady that helped us was friendly and fully engaged in conversation with us. I was a very good experience and the wine was delish.

Lakeview Winery is awesome. The owners are very pleasant. I visited as part of my bachelorette weekend and we had so much fun. The rose and the blackberry wines were a hit. My favorite was the Malbec. There was also live music while we were there. I highly recommend that you stop by.

Now that I just slammed the Starlight Grill, let me change gears and praise the Lakeview Winery. I popped into this place because the service at the Starlight Grill was terrible last Saturday night. This place was just what the doctor ordered. The staff waited on me right away and was knowledgeable about the wine. There were a couple of cute guys singing along with a drum machine. I don’t usually go for that but it was perfect in there. Do yourself a favor and check this place out next time you’re in the area.

Owners Gail and Kenny are great! My fiancé and I joined the wine club our first trip with friends. Such a cute winery and the owners are very knowledgable about their wines. We are always treated so well and they even have some fun merchandise for sale. It’s always a place we take our out of town guests and they go home wanting to come back and go again! If your looking for a place to relax and have good wine then it’s worth taking the drive!!!

I have to say, when I first walked in I was far from impressed. The place was a bit small and empty except the two women who worked there that greeted us with a less than stellar welcome. We almost turned around and walked out. Oh well, here, so why not try a tasting. Was told they had stopped already for the day… OK. I’ll try a glass. THEN, asked«you close at 7 right?»(on a Sunday as per Unilocal) — «No, we close at 6.» It all became clear. We has arrived about 25 minutes before closing time and the gals were ready to go home. End point — hubby and I each tried a glass of our choice(for me 100% Sangiovese) and to my surprise it was.pleasant. First time I’ve has an «all Texas grape» wine and enjoyed it — and I’ve tried a lot because I love wine and I LOVE Texas so I really have tried to LOVE Texas wines! The ladies did not rush us. Chatted with us about the history of the place, the grapes, etc. By the end we signed up for their $ 200($ 50 quarterly) annual membership! Ha! Is good for two people; comes with 2 free glasses of vino(used ours on same visit); 2 bottles of wine every quarter; %off in house wine and other merchandise purchases; and a few other prize drawings, etc. A pretty good deal overall. They also have a nice assortment of olive oils and vinegars that you can try; however, one negative note is that they really should have some bread on supply to try the oils with. There is something VERY off-putting about sipping oil straight from a tiny plastic cup into your moth. Not pleasant. Spending a few bucks on a little dough(pun intended) would certainly increase their sales of these items. After I try more wines, do a tasting or two, try the cheese tray etc. I will update my review.

I was skeptical prior to going here because this is not your typical winery out in the hill country. It is right in the retail area out by the Oasis restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised when we had great service and not only that, the wines were amazing. Every wine we had was smooth and easy to drink. I typically don’t touch white wines, but the Hippy Hollow Chardonnay was great! Thanks for letting us hang out for a couple hours!

Absolutely incredible. Had 4 wine tastings, most impressive selections of wine I’ve ever encountered. Wonderful service. Awkward location out by the Oasis, but once inside it all melts away. Great bar seating, plenty of non-bar seating. If this place served tapas it would be a shining jewel of unknown Austin. I while heatedly recommend visiting and getting a $ 10 tasting.

What a nice little surprise interlude we had here on Saturday! Taking advantage of gorgeous weather, we thought we’d trek out to Soleil for dinner, topless of course!, and I also wanted to check out this little storefront«winery». Imagine my surprise when we followed the signs to the door in the courtyard, to find a sweet little set up of a two piece band and some vendors selling wares and a nice little crowd enjoying the patio. We went into Lakeview and found out that this happens every first Saturday and all their wines offered were $ 5/glass! A good day indeed! We started out with a tasting which was $ 10 for five. Hubby and I are pros at this sort of thing, getting a tasting each but trying all different wines, making it like a tasting of 10 instead of 5. Lakeview Winery has a vineyard and winemaking facility in Georgetown so they sample their own wines as well as other Texas wines, like Pilot Knob and Duchmans. We enjoyed chatting with the owners, geting tips on growing our own grapes for the future, plus we got to watch some of the UT game on their TV. After our tasting(huge«tasting» pours btw), we each got a glass and their $ 8 cheese plate. While it seemed to be just deli sliced cheeses and ritz crackers, it was substantial for $ 8. We enjoyed sippin and noshin in the courtyard listening to music. We then took advantage of the«tasting is free when you buy 2 bottles» saving us $ 20! Plus we got two wine glasses as well. The only downfall to the experience was seeing the sad state of the Oasis complex. Many of the businesses are closed now, including Blue Genie AND Soleil. I sure hope Lakeview can make it out there. We’ll do our best to support them!

We LOVE Lakeview Winery. Owners Gail and Kenny are awesome. They are knowledgable about their wine, but even better they are great people. They also do a great job of tracking what you like and help to select wines based on your tastes. They have a great membership option, tasting options, and terrific wine options. We always have a great time and ask ourselves why we don’t come back more often. This place is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a relaxing time.

This was a very pleasant experience. For $ 10 I got five tastings of wine, my choice of any 5 wines; and the tasting were more than a tiny sample. I’m a red wine drinker, so I went right down the red wine list. My favorites were the Cabernet Franc and Firehouse Red(blend). Both were well balanced, a bit smokey and leathery with a medium finish. The location is great, wine is good, owners are knowledgeable and generous, and the experience was exactly what I was looking for.

Austin has wineries? Austin has their own grapes? Texas? really? YES! This winery opened in 2012(march) and has their own tasting room right by the Oasis. Cute little place, that offers 5 tastings for 10 dollars and even had full pours for 5 dollars this particular saturday. They have some tastings for olive oils and some cheeses and jams as well(peach and jalapeño, who woulda thought!) This winery has their own grapes from all over, I remember Temecula and New mexico being on their. I had a tasting of their malbec(first one to try it!) and it was actually really good, and also their full bodied firehouse was very good as well. They also have other wines from Texas that they offer tastings for, and I absolutely loved the sangiovese that was made with texas grapes, it was sweeter than most but still light. big fan of this wine. they ship to your home to if you want to purchase wines. the owners were very sweet and fun and very knowledgeable. i’m sure we made their day as we bought about 8 bottles of wine that day. :) definitely stop in and check this place out!

My husband and I visited Lakeview Winery on a Saturday. There was seating in the courtyard area in front of the winery and live music was playing. The wine was great and atmosphere was quaint. We will certainly return!

Lakeview Winery is one of the new store fronts that recently opened in Oasis Texas. The tasting room carries their own wine and wines from a few other Texas wines. In addition to wine, they carry cigars, Butler’s cheese and meats, wine themed t-shirts and have an olive oil & balsamic vinegar tasting bar. They sell cheese plates on the weekend and have outdoor seating to enjoy a glass of wine. The actual winery is located in Rockdale Texas and bottled in Georgetown. They use their own grapes but also use grapes from New Mexico, Temecula CA and other Texas grown grapes. A tasting is $ 10 which includes 5 tastings and a souvenir wine glass. They also sell by the glass, bottle and provide food pairing suggestions with each wine. We shared 2 tastings and of Lakeview Winery’s wine we tasted the Sweet White, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet. The Sweet White tastes of peaches and is a very light summery wine. I am not a fan of chardonnays but theirs may change my tune. The chardonnay is made from 100% Texas grapes and has a smokey flavor without the harsh oak flavor. The Cabernet was just OK. My favorite was the Merlot made which is made of with grapes from 50% New Mexico and 50% Texas and aged in new American oak. We also tasted wines from Salado Creek Winery, Georgetown Winery and Dry Comal. Out of those wineries most notable was the Super Big Texas from Georgetown winery which is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet. Fruit forward with spice at the finish. They have a wine club for $ 50 you get 8 bottles a wine(2 bottle quarterly), a bottle of olive oil, discounts on merchandise and wine. The owners Gail and Kenny mentioned that May 52012 is their grand opening and they will have $ 5 glasses of wines, $ 5 Bolivar cigars and live music form 12−9pm.
