This is not fine dineing but the food was good the people were nice. The verde salsa was exelent. I had beef fajita nachos and tacos my friend had an enchalada the bill was less then 20 $ Update: There must have been a change of ownership or somthing because the food and service quality went from acceptable to a horror.

Okay– so this is my first review on this site. I had to share my experience with others since this place is relatively new and I’ve seen no other reviews. Las Margaritas on Rundberg Ln, in the former chinese restaurant, Vivi’s location, next door to the IRS North at IH35. We get there at a prime time for dinner; 7:00 on a Friday night. No one is in there… that should have been our first clue. Second clue, their front window advertises(written with white shoe polish) «free margaritas!» But hey, the place is a mere 2 miles from my house, so I had to try it. We were so disappointed. We sit down at the front, no one in the joint but us and the people who work there. We order a couple of margaritas. The waitress couldn’t understand us, as we didn’t speak any Spanish… our third clue. She comes back with our chips/salsa and I ask her a question about a food item on their menu. She smiles and walks off, forgetting all about the chips on her tray. She comes back with someone else who works there telling me about the specials and they are no longer available. Huh? No, I asked about your beans on the menu, not your daily specials. The chips are okay, the salsa very tomato-y and bland. Next, we order. A lemonade is ordered. We’re brought one water. We get our margaritas. Now these margaritas taste good, but different, as they are salmon-colored. As a 40 year-old Austin local, this just didn’t «feel» right to me. Looking around, I didn’t seem to notice any posted liquor licenses in the place, so I asked the guy who informed me about the specials if there was any liquor our drinks. He said yes, there was vodka in there. Vodka? In a «margarita»?? How, I asked, can you give liquor away in this type of establishment. He informed me you can, as long as you don’t «sell it». Hmmm… whatever. Needless to say, no beer or liquor licenses, but they are allowed to give«one» for free per person. We get our food. I ordered spinach enchiladas with guacamole on the side. The spinach was canned, the sauce was mediocre and the rice was something out of a box you’d normally find in a dorm room. The guacamole was just mashed up avocado. Anyone can mush up an avocado, but guacamole takes some sort of effort. I got no effort. My guy got a combo plate. The beef was bland, the sauces tasted canned and the beans were thin and very bacony, seemed machine made. Again, mediocre. We had high hopes for the place since this is in a prime location for another good Mexican food place. East Austin! Without a doubt, I will not go back there and would much rather brave the Austin traffic going elsewhere else, say El Caribe on Lamar, than waste my money with this place.
