Last Petal

We got lucky to have Last Petal for our November wedding. You can tell there is true passion behind the work that Melanie and her team bring to each event… and for an affordable price! Some of my friends recently married had warned me not to get my hopes up regarding how some of my described plans would turn out on our big day, but to my surprise, our flowers, arch, boutaniers, corsages, etc. (even votives, lighting, and linens!) exceeded my deepest hopes or expectations… it was as though Melanie understood the look I wanted better than I did! Truly a talented florist, this is who you want to book for your event!

Melanie did an amazing job doing the flowers for my wedding! Melanie knew exactly what I wanted and made it come to life. She was flexible when I changed my mind on some things 3 mos before the wedding and helped me articulate what I wanted. The most beautiful flowers I’ve ever seen. They were on time and professional. Couldn’t have been happier!

Melanie worked with my budget and exceeded expectations. She broke down EXACTLY what she would use in my arrangements including ribbon color. Flowers were fresh and gorgeous. She was like a magical flower fairy because I never saw her, only my flowers on the big day. She has an amazing eye for shape and texture and I couldn’t be happier. I even noticed extra flowers/​greenery we didn’t buy, placed about artfully… as if she just couldn’t help herself. :] Would hire her all over again!

Last Petal provided the flowers for my wedding and they did a great job. Melanie was really easy to work with and really understood what I wanted as far as color scheme and the feel of the wedding. She was a little hard to get a hold of sometimes, but always came through in the end. She was very professional, and yet still easy going and the flowers looked great. Thanks Melanie!

Melanie has been a great help with my sister in law’s baby shower. She knows her stuff, is good about following up, and her flowers from the last event she helped me with lasted a week (awesome quality) and were a great price. I think she is very fair in her pricing and she is very creative and seems to enjoy what she does. I will update soon with pictures from the baby shower.

The flowers were beautiful! Melanie listened to exactly what I wanted. I couldn’t have been happier. The quality of all the flowers was impeccable.

Although I never actually met Melanie, she did a wonderful job on my wedding flowers. They were right within the specifications and requests that we discussed and uniquely beautiful! I got so many compliments on the flowers and how the combination of flowers were so pretty.
Honestly, I feel like a lot of ppl can arrange flowers or put a bunch of flowers in a vase. So, again, I will just stress that I feel like Melanie definitely has an eye for floral design and I was very happy with how the flowers turned out.
The only complaint I would have is that it is a little bit hard to get a hold of Melanie, as I’ve seen a few other reviewers mention. But, she does a great job and is reliable, so I really can’t hold it against her. She seems to get really focused and caught up in whatever wedding is coming up, so I’m guessing she just spends more time actually arranging flowers vs business administrative things.
So, bottom line: Last Petal does gorgeous work. You might not get a lot of communication from Melanie, but don’t worry, your flowers will turn out great!

I’m going to have to admit it — I was an absolute bridezilla when it came to the flowers at my wedding. That was definitely not my intention, and I apologize tremendously to Melanie. I tried to do some DIY projects that didn’t work out (painted mason jars blue since vintage mason jars are so pricey, tied ribbon around mason jars to hang on the backs of the ceremony chairs) and changed my mind a million times. Throughout this entire process, Melanie was so patient, kind, and flexible. She always reassured me that I was not being difficult, but I knew deep down, I was.
I think Melanie was the last florist I interviewed. I interviewed about 10 of them and decided to go with Last Petal for a number of reasons:
1. Melanie has a degree in horticulture, which means she knows her stuff.
2. I tend to judge companies based on their website, and her website was probably the best and easiest to navigate out of all the florists I looked at. I loved being able to look at flowers from past weddings she’s done.
3. An acquaintance (Andrea S.) used Last Petal for her wedding and gave a 5-​star review.
4. Melanie was mindful of my budget and quoted me the best price of all the florists I met with.
5. She was the only florist who asked me how big of a bridal bouquet I wanted and provided approximate dimensions.
I never actually met Melanie. We’ve only communicated over the phone and via e-​mail. I sent her my Pinterest board, and she was able to take my jumble of pins and pull off the exact look I wanted but didn’t know how to convey. My mom loved the flowers so much she took them ALL home: centerpieces, chair flowers from the ceremony, bridesmaids bouquets. (An unknown guest also took one of the centerpieces, vase and all. I guess they really liked it too?)
For being such a pain in the rear end, I almost don’t deserve the flowers for how gorgeous they were. They far exceeded my expectations. My bridal bouquet was soooo me, and the bridesmaids bouquets were exactly what I wanted and more. They looked perfect with the bridesmaids’ coral dress. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Melanie exceeded our very high expectations!!! She and her crew were amazing and everything from the chuppah to the bouquets to the tablescapes etc. were sooooo beautiful!!! She worked in a very tight timeline the evening of the wedding and did an amazing gorgeous floral display, and also was very respectful of the approx. $$$‘s we expected to spend. We had only one in person meeting and showed her pictures of ideas and looks that we liked, and I knew from that meeting that she «got it». She is truly an artist in the floral industry and a pleasure to work with. I just can’t say enough wonderful things about Melanie and her work. We were so very pleased with our decision to use Last Petal and Melanie for my daughters wedding. We had visited with 3 other florists, and she was the perfect choice for us. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Melanie did my wedding on 9÷17÷11 and I was floored! The flowers were amazing, and she really nailed the look I was going for. She was very flexible, and always open to my thoughts and question. My bridal bouquet was GORGEOUS and exceed my expectations. Every detail was carefully done. Thanks to her team, my wedding was beautiful and everything I dreamed of.
Btw I found Melanie after visiting with other vendors and I’m so glad I did, it helped me know how lucky I got finding her! She was so respectful of my budget and pulled off the look flawlessly!

We hired Last Petal for our wedding in September. Melanie was recommended to us by our coordinator (Jessica from Something To Celebrate.)
Melanie is very easy to work with and super creative. We live in Chicago, so I had one in person meeting with her where we talked about everything I liked and didn’t like about wedding flowers. She had great ideas that fit with my sensibilities. And yep, she’ll work with your budget. We gave her a price, she gave us beautiful flowers to fit. If there was a flower I liked that was too expensive, she had a cheaper alternative.
I should also mention that Melanie really came to the rescue with an issue that popped up just days before the wedding. She was so accommodating about the last minute change and had a solution that was beautiful and fitting with everything else we had planned.

Melanie and her crew from Last Petal are AMAZING. They recently did the flowers for my wedding, and WOW– I have never been so impressed.
I had two meetings with Melanie prior to the wedding– one to go over what I was thinking, and a final one a few weeks before the wedding. Melanie was so patient and thoughtful as I went back and forth, unable to make a decision. I went in only knowing colors, and she was able to craft up a master plan of ideas for me to pick and chose from. She gets all the credit for making my wedding as beautiful as it was.
Melanie is also willing to work with anyone– no matter your price range. She is so creative and thoughtful and will come up with ways to make what you want fit your budget. I promise you cannot go wrong having Last Petal putt together your floral arrangements. (She also did a wedding for a friend of mine, and it was GORGEOUS!)

Last Petal truly did an extraordinary job with my wedding in August 2009. Melanie Tipton was wonderful to work with and made my vision come true! She really listened to what I wanted and though what I wanted may not have been in the budget she recommended flowers that were similar but more cost effective. She had wonderful ideas and went out of her way to find just the right accessories for my center pieces. I would highly recommend Last Petal for your wedding! They are truly wonderful and great at what they do!
