Bought a hat online from and took my boyfriend and the hat to Lids for embroidery. The online ordering experience was less than awesome, but Kevin at Lids Barton Creek more than made up for the experience. The hat was for my boyfriend’s birthday and we both wanted it to turn out perfect. Kevin helped us find a hat that Kenny liked better than the one I ordered online and then painstakingly went through the embroidery process with us picky customers. He took a lot of time to make sure we were satisfied and never quit smiling throughout our requests/revisions. He was the definition of perfect customer service, especially on a busy Saturday at the mall. I would recommend Lids at Barton Creek to anyone looking for quick, small, and simple embroidery needs.

Usually good selection of hats but their staff isn’t too helpfully or too customer service orientated. Many times have I been there and not one of them offers to help me or if im looking for something specific. Overall you can usually find some good hats here to a good price.

Instead of coming up to us and helping us out, one of the employees shouted at my boyfriend from across the store not to touch the hats on the wall. My boyfriend and I became very confused as to how we were supposed to look for the proper size if we were not allowed to take hats down and look at the sizes. After yelling, the employee made no effort to approach us and offer to take hats down for us(not like we needed it — my boyfriend is 6’3″ and could easily reach the hats we were looking for). We just sort of stood there like«well, what now?» and ended up leaving without any hats, upset and disappointed by the rudeness of this employee.

I’ve had some success here in the past so I will keep a two star rating for this mall rat hat outlet. First experience with their customization program I left with a fitted hat with my latest nickname(after the neck tattoo) «ranchthug». The next visit is where this hat shit got real. I visited late in the week and the orders were backed up. I had no problem leaving the order overnight even though it was gonna cost me gas money to return to Austin to pick it up. Also, the item I was customizing was from another store(Academy) as this Lids didn’t have a small enough youth size for my son. I ventured in expecting to grab the hat and go only to look thru the window and see the botched embroidery of my sons name. This is where I think management should have reached out to me the day before and told me there was an issue. The morning employee told me to get another hat and they would redo it for free. I immediately asked for a refund including the«Lids Card» they signed my up for without telling me it was a $ 5 membership charge from the day before. He also exclaimed that if he had done the hat, none of this would have gone wrong and I would be a happy customer. So I recalled the day before when the BIG manager guy was running all over the store helping customers, taking orders, and doing a good job said morning guy was standing over in the corner talking about his latest conquest from the night before. OK hat genius, maybe you should have doing your job that day. Anyway, I drove over to the San Marcos Lids with the replacement hat(another $ 4) and was treated to excellent customer service and the hat was done in 10 minutes. I basically ate the first hats cost not to return to the Barton Creek location because of the poor treatment.

Decent, overpriced hats, mostly of the it’s cool to leave the sticker on variety(lamest trend ever). But once or twice a year there is a liquidation of hats for 5 bucks a piece and shipping is free when you ship to the store. That’s about the only time I will walk into a lids.

The manager of this store is quite possibly the world’s biggest d-bag. One of the employees in the store was helping me out and I explained that I was only interested in the authentic on-field caps as they are 100% polyester(don’t wear wool). Homeboy continued to try to tell me that I was wrong that the caps were not polyester and were in fact wool because they had a tendency to shrink. MLB officially switched over to 100% polyester hats a few years back and this jerk attempted to make me look as if I was an idiot in front of a store front of people. Well pendejo, if you flip up the label you will see that in fact I was right.

I got my hat on backwards ready to bail. Cops on my ass I dont want to go to jail! Well, I like my dookie lids. I have been sporting the Washingon Nationals and the Baltimore(Bloody-More) Orioles lately. You will not see me sportin’ the Yankees. Boston mos def. Gotta represent the familia from Philly aka Filthydelphia and get me a red Phillies cap. I always wanted a Dodgers cap. Football caps are here too. Cowboys, Redskins, Eagles are on my list but not the Giants. No way. Lets just say the NFC East are on my list but not NY G-Men. I like my lids new. Any other way would be uncivilized. What I like is the fact that if they dont have your size or team you can either A: order from their catolog and wait a week or B: have them call in another Lids in the Centex area and get it for you. College teams, Pro, and other types are here for your head. Keep your head in style, GOTOLIDS!
