Lone Star Round Up is a pretty cool experience if you don’t mind the traffic and the crowds, of course. Everyone is pretty energized to see what kinds of cars and trucks show up. And the owners are bringin’ it too! Chevy, Ford, Dodge, rebuilt, custom made, you name it. I also saw a celebrity: Tow Mater!

When we visited Austin two years ago and serendipitously stumbled upon this car show I fell madly in love. So much so that we planned our return visit to Austin based on this annual event. And it did not disappoint! Whereas in 2011 we saw the offerings in town, this year we went to the Travis County Exposition Center outside the City to take it all on and in. And just like going to the Whole Foods I was not prepared to be so freakin’ overwhelmed in the best way ever. I swear this fairground is bigger than Delaware! It was amazing to see the shear number and variety of classic, antique and custom cars from hot rods to trucks to motorcycles. And people on the whole were more than happy to chat about their rides. Every entry is at least 50 years old and is American. My favorites, bears repeating, of course are the vintage trucks and rust buckets. There are exhibitors as well as vendors selling auto bits, merchandise as food sellers including a vegetarian dude slinging burritos y quesadillas. Yum! If you are a fan of car shows this one is not to be missed. I certainly am planning on a return visit one April soon. And LSRU is one of if not my favorite event to photograph. It is best to go early before the crowds come and it is very challenging to get some shots without random people in them. Despite this, it cannot take a bad picture! :)))

This is such a fun event if you are able to attend. I really enjoyed all the classic and custom rides. I loved that there was a variety, from very expensive and rare cars to chopped and dropped rat rods. Be sure to check it out!

I love this event. I attended number 7 I think. The Blasters played and it was a beautiful day. Great selection of cars and the vendor scene was fun as well. I saw Jimmie Vaughn getting a haircut. The nighttime events are great also. S. Congress is a cloud of burnt rubber and there is nothing like it.
