Update to my last post. Microwave broke again less than a month after it was«fixed» and all numbers given or looked up are not working. Expensive lesson.

Wow. I am very surprised to read the bad reviews on these guys. I had a great experience with them after finding them on craigslist. JR told me what was wrong with my fridge and fixed it, then when I mentioned my water heater wasn’t working property he diagnosed that and fixed it, too. He and his Dad both seemed like great people and both appliances are working great now. I would highly recommend them, based on my experience with them. The only thing I would improve is if they could take credit cards it would have made it easier for me. Other than that, no problems at all.

I came across Longhorn Appliance on craigslist when searching for appliance repair. I contacted them first due to their available hours(7am-7pm) as I needed to have the appliance looked at over the weekend. JR maintained reasonable communication and met me at the property and after looking at the appliance said that a part(timer) needed to be replaced. He replaced the part but it did not work and he left without giving me(through tenant) an update on what was wrong or when it would be replaced. After I contacted him, he let me know another part needed to be replaced as well. I met him at the property and he replaced the part, showed me the appliance(washing machine) was working properly, gave me warranty, and went on his way. Note: while he and his ‘brother’ were making the repair, I was in the other room and I overheard them talking about me — nothing rude, but unprofessional nonetheless). After a few days, the washer is once again not working. JR met me at property the day after I called him, and diagnosed another issue. He took a part with him and said he would contact me the next morning and would be out to make the repair that day or the next. This was 7 days ago and despite several attempts to contact(phone, email, text), I have not heard from him. Now I am $ 325 in the hole with a part missing from a washer and who-knows-what needs to be repaired again. Note: he also offered a ‘cash discount’ for paying him cash instead of check.

JR Heiss and Longhorn Appliance are some of the most crooked people I have ever done business with. I was referred to Longhorn from Appliance Service(the true source of the problem) when my True refrigerator stopped cooling properly. JR and John came out to the club in late August and said our problem was a cap and relay system and they could have me back up and running for $ 608.36. I agreed and they then proceeded to install the parts. Once completed JR went over the warranty information with me and advised me if the cooler was not working properly to call him first thing tomorrow and he would come out and see what the problem is. After over 24 hours and no change on the status of my cooler I attempted to contact Longhorn Appliance to see what the problem was. After a couple DAYS of no response from Longhorn I than went ahead and contacted Appliance Service. They advised me that the part they installed was not the correct piece and that it was currently on back order and it would be a couple weeks until I would be able to get a replacement. Being a cooler driven business(downtown bar) a couple weeks is a unacceptable time frame and I would need a refund. Appliance service than informed me that it will take a couple weeks for me to receive my money back(which is crazy but I accepted this as their time frame). A couple weeks have passed and I once again contacted Appliance Service to check on the status of my refund. I was then told by the Manager(Stacey) that my request for a refund has been declined and my warranty is void!!! This is nothing more than theft and I cannot believe that any business is allowed to operate in such a manner. I have met with my attorney and have begun a case in small claims court to attempt to get my money back. These companies are nothing more than criminals taking advantage of their customers. I recommend avoiding Longhorn and Appliance Service at all costs to avoiding being put in the situation I have been forced to deal with.
