Man vs Move

worst move ever! they were suppose to pack me on sunday and move me monday. at 10am sunday i had to call to find out where they were at. matt texted me back he was short handed. would send double team monday to do everything in a day. monday there were 2 guys… not any team. they did a terrible job. tony got the money and pretty much dropped boxes anywhere, they never put things back together, and when my disabled son asked them to please move the boxes they just left, the response was «once we drop them we don’t move them again’. do not trust or use matt, tony or any of the crew. do not use oh and tony told me matt does not carry insurance and has no txdot license so beware!!!

TERRIBLE! By far the worst experience I’ve ever had with any company in my entire life.
Before the move, the owner of the company, Matt, told me that I could pay by credit card when they delivered everything to Dallas. When the driver came to load up, though, he seemed really concerned about getting the money and told me that it would be much better to pay in cash (the estimate came out to $ 1929) because there would be a 3% charge for using a credit card. To avoid the charge, I got cash, even though it seemed odd for such a large amount.
We had already packed everything ourselves, so all they had to do was get it in the truck, and they were polite and careful with everything, so no problems there. The trouble began when I expected them Saturday night but didn’t hear anything until I called and found out they had broken down in San Antonio earlier in the day and would need to stay overnight to get the truck fixed. No big deal, I’d told them a delivery on Sunday would be fine, but I was a little annoyed that they hadn’t taken the initiative to call and tell me. They were already in a motel for the night and hadn’t bothered to let me know when I’d been waiting in an empty apartment all day long.
The next day, I called at 9 to find out where they were but didn’t get a response. I called throughout the day, leaving voicemails, but still no response. As evening rolled around, I started to panic, wondering if these people had just stolen everything I owned. I started calling repeatedly and noticed that sometimes the phone would ring just once before going to voicemail, sometimes 3 times, sometimes 5: obviously their phones were right next to them and they just kept hitting «ignore» when my call came through.
I called the owner of the company; it was the same thing. I called each of them about 30 times before I finally had my mom call them, thinking they wouldn’t recognize a number from a different area code. She left a voicemail with the owner saying that we were about to call the police and report our goods as stolen. Then she called the driver, and he answered his phone. First he lied about who he was, but then said that Matt had just texted him about our voicemail (which meant Matt had had his phone with him and had been listening to the voicemails). The driver said they were still stuck in San Antonio waiting for a part that couldn’t be delivered until Monday. It was already 8:00 at night by the time we heard this. He apologized and offered to give us a discount: $ 1600 instead of the original $ 1929. Not enough to make up for such terrible customer service, but whatever.
Around 3:00 Monday, the driver called my mom and ASKED HER FOR $ 100 FOR GAS! He said he would take it off the $ 1600 we had to pay. No.
Later, I got a call from the owner asking about payment. I told him the driver had asked for cash. He said that I absolutely shouldn’t pay him in cash. I didn’t have any other option, though: it was too late to go to the bank. Matt said to pay with my credit card and offered to waive the 3% fee, but I didn’t have enough credit available on my card. His solution was to drive to Dallas and take the cash from me himself. I said that was fine, but it was a matter between him and his employee, and I didn’t want to be involved and would pay whoever showed up first.
I’d already given Matt my credit card number for a $ 100 deposit before the move began, but now I was worried and didn’t feel comfortable with them having that information. I called the credit card company and they told me there had just been a $ 1929 charge to my account, which was declined. So right after I told him I couldn’t use my card and would pay cash, he ran my card for the FULL amount (not the $ 100 deposit OR the agreed-​upon$ 1600). I cancelled my card and told Matt I was outraged, and he blamed it on the driver. I don’t know why you would even give my credit card information to the driver, but if you did, that money would go into the company’s account, which would benefit the owner, not the driver, and the driver was a sub-​contractor. I’m certain he was lying to me.
To make a long story short, the truck broke down again but arrived at 10:00pm on Monday (two days late). Matt demanded to be paid before they would unload. I offered $ 1300 because I’d had to stay in a hotel, but the owner insisted on $ 1929. When I mentioned that the driver had already said TWICE that the price would be $ 1600, he denied ever saying that. Eventually, we argued him down to the $ 1600 and paid just to be rid of them.
Everything was unloaded quickly, but they dropped a box of Christmas ornaments, which broke, and didn’t offer an apology while my partner and I cleaned up the mess. I’m not expecting compensation and am just happy it wasn’t something more expensive.
There is absolutely no way I would ever use this company again. Check out their BBB rating; it’s worth paying more for a company you can trust!

SO FED UP AFTER WAITING FOR OVER FIVE HOURS, WE DECIDED TO DO IT OURSELVES, AND I’M GLAD WE DIDN’T GIVE THEM OUR BUSINESS! My girlfriend scheduled an appoint for a Saturday at 8:00am, and received confirmation from Matt, the owner, after making the appointment. That confirmation was at least a week or two before the move. The day of our move we had everything packaged and ready to go by 8, but no one showed. We tried not to panic, and after checking our confirmation email, it said to give an hour window for arrival. We still tried to call both numbers we had, the office and Matt’s cell, a few times between 8 and 9 to at least get a confirmation, but no answers and no response. No problem waiting around until 9:00am, until no one shows up still. By 9:30 we started calling more frequently, as well as leaving voicemails and sending emails, still nothing.
By 10:30am I started calling some friends to come help, but shortly after I received a call from the employee that was going to be moving us, 2 AND A HALF HOURS AFTER ORIGINAL SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. He informed us that his crew was currently working on another job, and the paperwork they had said we were second in line for the day, MY FIRST SIGN OF BAD MANAGEMENT. He ensured us that he would be at our apartment within the hour, so I called off my friends and waited.
Another couple hours go by and I have to start calling the company again, and again, no answers. Note, this is ANOTHER HOUR PAST WHEN I WAS TOLD THEY WE’RE GOING TO BE THERE FOR THE SECOND TIME. I finally received a call back from the employee saying it was still going to be a couple hours, by the time they would have started, it would have been 6+ HOURS AFTER THE ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED TIME. Now is when it started to become a matter of just not wanting a company like this to have my business. So, I ended up calling in some friends and we did it ourselves.
After this whole fiasco, both my girlfriend and I had left multiple voicemails for Matt, informing him of the situation. I never received a call back, but my girlfriend was able to get ahold of him a few days later. After she explained what had happened, she told Matt that all she wanted was her $ 100 back that she had paid for the appointment, and HE TOLD HER THAT HE WOULD ONLY REFUND HALF, AND THEY NEVER EVEN DID ANYTHING, LITERALLY NOTHING! He said that because she had made the purchase from Living Social, she had to go through them to try and get the other half of her money back, what a terrible way to manage a company.
THIS COMPANY IS JUST UNDER HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT, AND AFTER READING MORE OF THE REVIEWS, I’M SURPRISED THEY’RE STILL IN BUSINESS. I highly recommend that anyone who may be looking at this company, look elsewhere.

I needed to move my girlfriend to a 3^rd story apartment in the same complex. Matt gave me a good deal and the movers he sent were very nice, fast and did not damage her funiture. No complaints from me, I will hire them for the next move.

THEY DID NOT SHOW UP… AND WOULD NOT PICK UP THE PHONE WHEN I CALLED (8 attempts)… My wife set up the move for a Saturday and Matt was very prompt in responding to her emails and questions BUT on the day of the move they were a «NO SHOW». Matt would not take my phone calls or return a my calls. The BBB gives this company a «F», unfortunately I didn’t bother look them up before the move date. Don’t believe the empty promises, emails and verbal or written promises… Call any other company, ask a friend, neighbor and even your in-​laws for help but NO NOT USE MAN vs MOVE…

Matt still does not accept my calls, respond to my emails or make good on «the check is in the mail». This company basically ripped me off for $ 101.03 in overcharges. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. Now I have to go through the whole thing of fighting the credit card charge… which i will and since i have all the documentation and an email from Matt admitting the «error», i will win… but is it worth it??? Just stay away from them in the first place. And really? They cannot make refunds on their mastercharge account??? Maybe Mastercharge will cancel their account when they have to go through a challange to a charge and pay back the money.

These guys were awesome, moved all of our stuff in less then 3 hrs from our house to our 3 story apt they were on time and very professional, thx man vs move we’ll be calling next time we need an awesome dedicated moving team

Showed up 2 and a half hours late with a rusty old trailer that had a massive hole in the roof. Walked in and immediately said it was going to take twice as long as over the phone. Didn’t seem like they wanted to be there so I dismissed them. Super sketchy.
