Maudie’s is close and convenient to where I live downtown and work. I have come in quite often in the last two years. Long story short it has never failed I have had business lunches, brunches, and dinners here and we have had exceptionally distasteful service from their waiters and waitresses. I have no idea why this is? As we sat down last weekend for brunch outside as usual we were not acknowledged in any way. Sat there for quite some time, when our male server did come and check on us for drinks he was rude, arrogant and made us all feel like we were disturbing him for coming in. He looked annoyed and is very rude. The woman behind me complained to us about her female server. The tables in our corner began conversing about how poor the service is here. We have all have agreed not to come back. The Maudie’s in West lake has always been pleasant and professional with good food. This Maudie’s will make you feel like you don’t belong there and are not welcome.

Our family LOVES this place. Josh, the manager has excellent customer service. Our son has severe food allergies, but he takes the time to cut up my son’s food so there is no cross-contamination. The staff is always friendly and nice. They are clean and the food is consistent. We are glad to have a place to come and eat with our church family and friends as well. Thanks!

Was a nice meal. Sat outside. It wasn’t knock your socks off Tex Mex but it was good. Shrimp tacos were good.

I received a very sincere apology from MGMT here. I appreciate that, three stars for you. I’d definitely get the potato, egg and cheese tacos again if I came back to Austin.

Ask for the Gregg Egg. It’s on their secret menu, and it’s simply TODIEFOR. If your server doesn’t know what you’re talking about ask to speak to a manager, they’ll know. Took off one star because one of the hosts was obviously high on marijuana while working, but he was still very helpful!

W O W all I can say W O W. I’d heard from all of my friends about the legendary Greg egg and thought I’d finally give it a try. Again WOW it lived up even surpassed the hype. A great way to wind down after a hard day on The farm or a great thing to share with your gal pals on a girls night out!

Worst service ever. I ordered 3 margaritas 1st one to much ice. 2nd margarita I asked for light on the rocks. That was probably the best one. The 3rd margarita was in a small glass half full. Will a glare from the waitress. Not happy with my 1st visit to this place. We also sat very fast but waited 45 minutes for our food. Surprisingly the food was delicious. The service was very poor. I’m only giving a two star for the food.

Such bomb tex mex! I had the shrimp stuffed avocado and a bacon/egg/cheese breakfast taco, both of which were delicious. We also had a supreme nachos for the table, which were good but not mindblowing(though I’m not sure nachos ever really are). Would definitely recommend eating here!

One of the best Tex-Mex places in Austin. Becoming a regular business lunch meeting place for me. Food and service have been spot on every time.

Been there 3 times and a fan. They have gluten free chips that taste good!(just ask!) The food is good but nothing to write home about. We like to go because the food is good and we usually have at least 5 people(big booths).

I had the mahi-mahi tacos; they were yummy. We had to wait for some minutes for a table, though.

excellent service, a bit loud at times but the food is great! The huevos rancheros are my daughters favorite but if you’re not in the mood for mexican food they also have gringo classics like the short stack of pancakes or a burger and fries, which by the way are surprisingly good. You can also have a nice margarita! However my absolute FAVORITE is the Gregg Egg you simply HAVE to try it!

This place is ok. I’m not sure what it’s famous for or why it’s so popular. It’s kind of hard to mess up TexMex. So this place is fine, like most other places. But nothing great. I visited tonight(maybe my third visit?) and noted that the queso was pretty bad(maybe made from Velveeta?) and the margarita was pretty mediocre and weak. Not a place I’d bring friends. But maybe good for a happy hour stop if it’s on your way home from work.

One of the best Tex-Mex restaurants in Austin. Consistently good, quality ingredients. Cheap, tasty, and quick. What more do you need?

It’s better than Guero’s. That’s not saying much. Probably on par with Trudy’s. I like Polvo’s or smart’a El Rancho when it comes to this type of Mexican food. Good drinks and a great location on Lake Austin Blvd. are the positives. I am in the neighborhood so get it to go some. I prefer more authentic stuff. I am from South Texas, Corpus Christi, where there is a taqueria on every corner and none of the California fusion Mexican food. A taqueria or taco stand beats this most times.

We will certainly be going back to Maudie’s! The chips are crisp and thin and the salsa is spicy. My bf loved the salsa, but it was too spicy for me. The Tacos al Pastor were amazing! Cooked to perfection and so rich and full of flavor. Maggie’s Plate was great too. The chili con carne sauce on the enchilada was excellent. Dessert… Save room for their Tres Leches Cake. OMG. Perfect blend of creamy and rich and cinnamon flavors. Definitely worth it!

This is my go to for tex mex. If you want a true experience go here. From tacos, to enchiladas, to breakfast and more, this is one of the best tex mex places in Austin.

This review is strictly based on customer service(or lack there of)… I’m sure the food is ridiculously great, but I’m highly allergic to jalapeños so naturally, I asked for chicken enchiladas with no peppers. No problem… Except when I get them they’re stuffed with peppers. Ok– no big deal. I flag down our SUPER social waiter(yes– that’s sarcasm) — and just told him I couldn’t eat them because of the peppers. His response is, «oh, the chicken is pre made with the peppers already»… Really? Why didn’t you point that out when I specifically asked for NOPEPPERS. THEN– instead of attempting to fix the situation, he’s like, «so do you want something else?»… Well I guess not. He takes my plate away without explaining the solution. — which makes sense, because clearly there wasn’t one! Haha! I didn’t get any dinner that night.

We love this place so much. Service is always incredible and the food is good Tex Mex. Alberto is our waiter and he recognizes us every time we come in. They always treat us great. It’s got great prices and for the service alone, it’s our go to spot for Saturday breakfast with our pup Cricket. Plus, I’m in love with their salsa and my husband loves their Huevos Barrachos. For the price, the people and their patio, it’s a win for us.

I tell you what their quesadillas blancas: Jack cheese quesadillas with poblano strips and tomato on white corn tortillas are damn good. They are small and come in a quantity of 4 — the perfect amount of cheese and tortillas that anyone needs. They aren’t too spicy, but are perfectly paired with guacamole, pico, and sour cream. The margaritas here are always a successful antidote after a long day or long night before, for that matter. The service is just as impressive as the food. Fast and super responsible. They never forget unique orders with specific requests. Though, they don’t take reservations, tables are turned over fast and it’s never too long before you’re sipping a strong and savory margarita while noshing on a delectable array of Tex Mex.
