I ate there this past weekend and was underwhelmed. I ordered chicken fajitas. They were bland, had no flavor to them. I doubt they even put salt. The tortilla chips were tough and stale, and the salsa was bland as well. The guacamole tasted like the pre made kind. The texture seemed to affirm it. My S.O. had enchiladas and said they weren’t very good either. I don’t remember which dish he specifically had. I sat outside on the patio and it was somewhat dirty. There were tons of birds wondering around. I know it’s an outside area but they weren’t doing anything to deter them. What made it worse is tables were not promptly bussed so birds kept showing up and hanging out on abandoned plates. The service was ok. Not bad. The ambience on the patio was lacking. This was the second time I’ve eaten there and the second time I was bored with the flavors. The quality was lacking and it was apparent in the food. Go elsewhere for Tex Mex.

The pulled chicken in their enchiladas made me sick all day today! Gross atmosphere and birds pooping on tabletops!

Well, we have been coming here over the years and have had the same dish many times, but tonight we ordered the off-menu Habernero sauce shrimp tacos and they were less to be desired. On a hot plate of food because of the cheese, they added lettuce and tomatoes, not how it has been made before. Hot wilted lettuce! Uck! And my shrimp were overdone and not too many and my husband’s shrimp on his were barely done and neither one had any heat from the peppers in the sauce. Whoever made this needs to learn how to for next time.

Get the Migas!!! So simple and so perfect. I wish they had this in California. 10 times better than chilaquiles. Nice and spicy too. I dream of migas

I am vis Austin for SXSW and went here to eat my first night in town. I really liked the low key and relaxed atmosphere. The service was quick and very friendly. I had a pulled pork burrito which was really tasty.

The catering coordinator, Laila, and staff are a class act. I used Maudie’s to cater my wedding on Feb. 28th. It was a brunch wedding so we had breakfast tacos, migas and regular(bacon and sausage.) I planned the wedding myself and have never worked with a caterer before. I called Laila and she took it from there. She was able to accommodate my indecisiveness up until the last minute offering up recommendations on popular items. I also hired them to bartend. Because Texas has crazy Sunday alcohol laws, Laila followed up on what I should expect. This was surprising to me because every other vendor I hired, I had to continually follow up with them. At the wedding, these guys were self starters. They began setting up so my family and friends could eat/drink as soon as they arrived. The staff also noticed my stress level rising as I was late leaving the venue so they volunteered to help us with what we needed. My family and friends loved the food, bartender and server. I recommend using them for catering or just to have amazing food. Their customer service was professional and humble. Thanks Maudie’s. We will miss you as we travel the country.

Classic Maudie’s deliciousness! Ask for Jordan, she’ll make sure you have everything you need and want, has great recommendations with a giant smile on her face & a spring in her step. I’ll definitely be back.

I was very disappointed at the quality of the food. All I wanted was a cheese enchilada with real cheese, stringy and tasty, but what I got was velveeta cheese and flavorless tortillas. The only thing I enjoyed was the salsa and crispy chips. Next time I want Mexican food I won’t be going back! But the service was good.

Just ate here for the first time. I’m actually still here waiting on our server to bring the change from my check. When she returns, this will be her third total trip to the table. Before I go on– the food was GREAT and so was my margarita. Unfortunately, my server didn’t come to the table again after dropping the food so I never got to order a second one. Carla was the server. Possibly the worst service I’ve had in Austin– which says a lot. The bartender did far more to help my table.

I USED to love Maudies. Then the service started going downhill like a speed skier. and not just Maudie’s Too, either. All of their services are subpar. I blame management for that. It’s understandable when you have one bad seed in the group of servers, but it happens every time. Anyway, when I DID make my displeasure known on their FB Page I got a response from a Jose Ortuna aka Freddie who I guess IS a server there and and Santa Rita. His unprofessional attitude copied here: 3starLUV the food! The service we had yesterday left something to be desired. I hate to be ignored by a server. Guess she didn’t need the money. There are SO many better tex mex restaraurants in Austin.

I ordered the Pollo Hacienda. Flavorless poblano sauce. The rice and beans were meh. The flour tortillas lack any type of authentic taste. I’ve had much better tortillas from the HEB bakery. My margarita was fine, but nothing impressive. My husband ordered soft tacos. Two chicken, one beef. He said the chicken had a strange taste, like it was old and had been sitting a while. He ordered a michelada, which was very flavorful. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, though this shouldn’t have been hard seeing as the restaurant was almost empty. I’ve heard this place has great queso. I haven’t tried it. We did like their chips and salsa. I guess if you just want a place to have queso and drinks, you’ve found a winner. If you want decent Mexican food, keep looking. I read someone else’s comment that this place is not«gourmet» so people shouldn’t complain. I’ve been to plenty of other hole-in-the-wall, non-«gourmet» Mexican places that were 10 times better.

Solid nope. Should have taken the fact that the place was absolutely empty during peak breakfast times as a clue we should find somewhere else. We ordered breakfast tacos and ¾ of them were missing ingredients. I ordered a bacon/egg/potato/cheese and it was missing the eggs. Hubs ordered the same thing and his were missing potatoes. Kiddo ordered pancakes and bacon and they were both cold and dry. Server dropped off the food and never came back. Boo. Will not be back ever.

Man. I’m struggling to find a positive. I got the poblano crema enchiladas. The sauce is this watery, bland, skim milk looking stuff that had things sort of floating in it. The«salsa» sort of resembled ketchup and totally lacked flavor and heat. I will not return, and would not recommend it. Our waitress was nice, that’s a plus.

Look, I love Maudie’s — there food is great, the service is… just okay — sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s mediocre, but like I said, the food is great, so it’s worth taking the risk on the service. My husband and I have frequented this location for a couple of years now and we know what we’re getting walking in. The place could definitely be cleaner and as I mentioned, they could step it up in the service department. I frequently find I have to ask for a refill instead of just receiving one and the staff at the front would rather talk amongst themselves instead of greeting/saying good bye to customers.

I love Maudie’s and have fond memories from when I lived in Austin. I am back for a visit and was disappointed when we sat on the patio and the rail had a bunch of bird poop. It was disgusting and it ruined my appetite. Seriously?

I really like this place! Friendly service, great food, and awesome margaritas! They also have several items on the menu for 500 calories or less if you want to eat healthy. I’ve been here during the day to work, and the manager even helped me find an outlet to plug in my laptop!

Gave Maudies another chance last night and was pleasantly surprised. The outside patio was great! Cooled with lots of fans for hot Texas summers, and without the noise competition we experienced inside. The food was equally delicious and the service was much better than last weekend. Our server, Jordan, was sweet and attentive. Definitely an improvement!

No line, no food. No need to wait here because there is no line. Oh yeah there is no food either. What a cluster. Place order and wait. Notified part of dish(guacamole) is unavailable but can get more beans. Are you kidding me? Wait some more for guacamole to be be made.10 minutes later beverage is delivered, still no food. False alarm the other patron is told to tell me the food is ready, wrong again. Ask for refund told to wait for manager. Another five minutes. Meanwhile 4 of 5 employees watch one employee work. You figure it out. It can’t get any worse…
