So Unilocal is saying this place is closed. It’s defiantly not, This place is fricken awesome! I wish we would have known about it sooner friendly staff and great pizza you can’t go wrong.

Mercury Pizza was the worst pizza I have ever eaten. My friend and I ordered a blue cheese and buffalo chicken style pizza — crust is doughy, and raw in parts. No blue cheese anywhere on this. But the thing that got me was the obvious Tyson chicken on it. You know, the kind you buy in the bag for three bucks and microwave? Yeah, that. We each ate half a piece each and then chucked it in the dumpster.

Just opened under new ownership. I am so happy! The pizza is still really good, and they still sell slices. They are transitioning into their full menu, so they are out of SOME things, but they say they’ll have everything in a few weeks. Plus, PLUS, they will be DELIVERING wine and beer soon! Holla!

A stoner’s dream come true… They even have a za called The Lebowski. The staff always seems to be a little«out of it.» The last time I was there, they were out of drinks… All of them. None the less, its good NY style pizza… HUGE slices at that. Wish they were open for lunch.

What a slice! This is exactly what we needed after a long day(and evening) of ACLFest! Pizza in New York Style– thin crust, easy on the sauce but healthy on cheese and toppings. We didn’t want to wait for a whole pie to cook so we ended up getting slices of the Pepperoni and Jalapeño and Pepperoni and Mushroom. Both kinds were outstanding; hot out of the oven, crispy crust, abundant toppings and both slices as big as your face! We gobbled both down greedily then went back to split a second slice. Now with our hunger sated, my wife and I headed happily home and to bed!

What a disappointment!!! I drove way out of my way in traffic to go to Mercury because I was so happy with it in the past, but the quality has seriously gone downhill. The garlic knots were completely different from the last time I ordered them– they didn’t even have any garlic on them– just garlic powder. Plus there was hardly ANY garlic on my pizza– probably 2 or 3 slices had some but that was it! Sad Lisa… I won’t be coming back.

«I don’t feel like cooking. Do you want to just get some pizza?» «Sure,» I responded. Then she suggested Mercury Pizza. «Charles, what now?» fell out of my mouth because I’d never HEARD of Mercury Pizza. She then told me that I’ve definitely seen it. It’s the cute house I park next to whenever I go to Black Sheep Lodge. We placed an order for take out and upon arrival, I realized that I had known about it all of this time. We ordered the«White Noise» which is a pie composed of olive oil, fresh garlic, romano, spinach, ricotta, mozzarella. It’s almost obscene how large these slices are. Luckily for me, this obscenity was of the best kind. I took two pieces upstairs so as to save myself the likely trip back downstairs to get more. Eating this pizza was like putting a puzzle together. I refuse to fold my pizza. REFUSE. If I wanted a sandwich, I’d get one. I won’t disrespect my pizza by making it something it’s not. Even though the first two slices perfectly took care of my appetite, I still made the trek to get the remaining two slices. The word«full» doesn’t describe my state of condition after that. It’s the perfect kind of New York style pizza, although this particular pie’s crust was a little dry. I might not have noticed it had the edges not been so large. There was a good two inches of crust. I like a cracker-y crust, sure, but that much of one can be a bad thing. That said, it’s not bad enough to keep me from going back to Mercury Pizza. The box invites you with the phrase«Enjoy your delicious moments!» And boy, did I ever enjoy each bite. Well done, Mercury Pizza. Well done.

These pizzas are HUGE and a great deal for the price! Can easily feed twice as many people as a normal sized pizza(I dare anyone to eat more than two slices). We tried the Assassinator and were shocked to see whole slices of bacon and mega-sized pepperonis on the pie. Certainly not the healthiest of meals, but incredibly delicious… and perfectly cheesy. Hands down, better than HomeSlice in terms of toppings and price(but I think Mercury could work on the flavor of the crust a bit … maybe its a tad bland). Also, we ordered at 7pm on Wednesday and had our pie in about 35 minutes. No delivery problems!

If I could only eat one pizza for the rest of my life, it might just be the Golden Fig pie here. I ordered a gluten free pie for some friends who were coming over and, while I didn’t try it myself because I’ve moved past that stage of my life and NEVERWILLGOBACK, they all said it was good and went back for seconds.

I guess from some of the previous reviews this place might be ironing out some issues. My individual experience was great. They had just sold the last slice of white pizza to the customer in front of me and had another pie sliced up in under 15 minutes. Just the right amount of char on the underside of the crust, delicious fresh garlic just warmed up enough to give off its flavor, with spinach barely wilted while the thing was almost to hot to eat – pretty perfect. One guy, one slice, one Friday night – so I’m no expert here, but I will be back.

Ordered pizza from them last night and they never delivered it. Never received a phone call. When my husband drove over to the shop after two hours of waiting, they were closed. But there was a group of people out front eating pizza. This group of people said they had«run out of everything.» Except for the pizza they were eating, apparently. When he called them today they blamed us for giving them our phone number incorrectly. Obviously I’m never ordering pizza from here again, and neither should anyone else who expects their order to be carried out.

SHORTSTORY: Do not order from Mercury if you actually want to eat a pizza tonight. I ordered a pizza tonight at 7:45 pm. I was told it would be delivered in 45 or 50 minutes. An hour later, I called Mercury to check on my order. I got an answering machine. I called again 15 minutes later, then again 15 minutes later. Nothing but answering machine. Finally, at the 2 hour mark, I gave up and drove to Mercury to find the shop closed and nobody left at 9:50PM. They are purportedly open until 2am on Saturdays. I was informed by a group of other customers that they had«run out of everything.» I never received a call from Mercury to tell me that my order had been canceled, or that they would not be able to deliver it. No amount of goat cheese and grilled figs on a pizza can make up for this shocking lack of professionalism and service. I will never order from Mercury again, and there will be hell to pay if I discover my credit card was charged for this imaginary pizza.

What a strange place. After leaving Black Sheep Lodge the munchies hit me. Having passed by Mercury 1000 times, I thought it would be time to drop in and get a slice or something. The building itself is quaint, if not cute. There was a buzz definitely going on. In that most of the clientele were quite young hip/frat/pretentious/cool/stoned/drunk/dancing munchkins. There was a quite a bit of energy flowing out the door. The pizza guys were making dough, rolling out pie rounds and putting things together for pie. It looked like they had just pulled out a pepperoni and was cutting up and I opted for that. We grabbed a seat inside, which reminded me of the same type of set up as their neighbor Opa’s. The slice was a healthy portion. However, the pizza was pretty greasy. The dough/crust was nothing remarkable at all. I scarfed down a few bites and we heading out. It seems like this would be a great choice if you were ripped after smoking a huge blunt and lived next door and didn’t own a car.

I had the spinach and ricotta cheese pizza the other night. They also had free beer and a DJ it was a great night for us girls. The pizza was thin crispy and Delicious, the ingredients where fresh and the slices were so huge I needed two plates. I recommend you try this pizza place it was slamming! :-)

I was hanging out at Aviary one night when one of my friend’s friend shows up and vows to quench his hunger by visiting Mercury. Having never heard of such a place, I am explained that it’s pizza which perks me right up. They return with a box that’s normally reserved for a small, personal pizza, but in reality contains one massive slice covered with what appears to be a perfect ratio of cheese, sauce, chicken and broccoli on a just as perfect crust: crispy, thin perfect for folding in an alcoholic-driven stupor. But, wait there’s more! I’m being told there’s an ‘ODB’ awaiting us. A what? Yes, an ODB. A calzone with BBQ and enough cheese to feed a small village, wrapped in that delicious calzone dough. I vow to return one day!

Every time I go to the Black Sheep I’ve seen this place and said, «We need to try it sometime.» That time was last night, and it was pretty solid. The little hipsters tossing the dough were friendly and served us a couple of slices– one hamburger and one supreme style. I hate to make this comparison, but it brought back memories of my all time favorite childhood pizza place: Peter Piper Pizza. Awww yeah. Once in a while I get a craving for PPP, and now I know where to go seeing how the closest one is in New Braunfels. The crust was light and crispy, just how I like it when I’m not eating @ Via. This one will go on my future«South Side Swaggin’» list.

Now I am a vegan. So, unfortunately, I can’t rate the pizza myself … I can only go by the reviews of my staff and they ALL loved the pizza. I got the«Velvet Sadie» and then a veggie one of my own design. So, I work an overnight shift and supervise a really amazing staff of people. And they have a really tough job, so I decided to order them some pizza. I mean, come on… it’s the least I can do. ESPECIALLY bc this crew works the weekends. Which – who voluntarily gives up their friday and saturday nights to try to give back to their community? Not very many people, I’ll tell you that! So, to express my gratitude, I decided to feed them bread and all sorts of fattening toppings late at night, as an expression of my appreciation for all that they do. So, I called the number listed on the Unilocal site for this place and… was given another number to call to get delivery. BTW… the fact that these guys are open till freakin’ 3am… PROPS! So, I call the delivery guy… and my goodness did I tap into Austin’s own Don Juan. A veritable lothario of sorts. I wasn’t complaining. He had my ass laughing the entire way through the order. After ordering the Velvet Sadie… which is ALL meat… he proceeded to tell me how delicious those meatballs were. After telling him that I was a vegan, he lamented about my unfortunate restrictive diet which would enable me to live a longer, unhappier life. =) haha… points for balls. Bc I was outside of their typical delivery area, their $ 3 delivery … there was a little bit of an extra charge. But honestly… remember the whole… I’m working a graveyard shift bit?? — Bring on the charge. That’s the price of convenience I suppose! So, at the very least… hit up the late night delivery guy to get your kicks in when it’s late and you’ve got the munchies. And btw… I know that most locally owned business can’t accept American Express… but THANKYOUGODDESS for Mercury accepting it! =)

I have been here a couple of times and they were really good both times. I have not run into any of the service issues or timing issues but I also do not go here at peak hours. This is generally a stop I make after leaving the Black Sheep Lodge so I am not really in a rush or anything. From reading these reviews it looks like most of their issues are just part of the learning curve for a new business. If the quality of the pizza remains the same and they can work out the small stuff they will do just fine. Glad to have a Home Slice style pie close to home and my favorite bar. Good Luck Mercury Pizza.

I dig this«New York» style pizza. I also like that they have gluten-free and non-dairy cheese(Daiya) options. And their little house has an outdoor«yard» and is hidden off of South Lamar in the Zilker neighborhood. Fun! Looks like their website isn’t ready yet — checkout their Facebook page instead:
