I only go here on occasion due to the convenience of it’s location. One of the employees is pretty friendly and cool, the other one I always see is a straight up dick. Won’t even converse back with you and totally ignores you. Also usually just throws your cash or card on the counter lazily. They are pretty trivial things, but it makes a difference with customer service honestly. It’s also very overpriced, I mean mints for almost $ 5? Really? I wish there was another quickie mart nearby, because I usually walk out of there wondering what the f – k is jammed up those employee’a a – holes.

I pass this place each morning on the way to work. Sometimes they’re open, sometimes they’re not. So, I’m not exactly sure when they’re open. That’s annoying enough. What’s more annoying is that the morning clerk feels it’s more important to check in newspapers and do his other morning duties before he rings up your purchases. Not-so-friendly note to Mesa Mart: If you don’t take care of your customers, you won’t need to worry about your morning administrative chores.

It is a CONVENIENCE store, not a low-priced supermarket. Randall’s is a block away & Walgreens sells milk & ice cream. Take your choice. I go there for convenience & lottery tix, and try to avoid the AHS crowd.

They made me feel horrible. I went in to get a fountain drink. When I tried to pay, the guy pointed to a huge sign that said $ 3 minimum to pay by card. I admit it was a big sign… but I didn’t see it until after he pointed it out. I didn’t have any cash, and even though I had on $ 500 shoes, I knew I only had $ 2 left in my checking account — times are tough, what can I say? I told the guy it was all I had — I didn’t have cash and I didn’t have $ 3 to use my debit card… but he kept demanding at least 40 cents for the cup. Of course, I didn’t have it — no cash. I offered to leave the drink and pay the full amount, and he refused. At any rate, he yelled at me again and told me to never come back. I was so embarrassed, I certainly wouldn’t go back anyway. Way to knock a guy while he’s down… I would go back and give the guy $.40, but he obviously doesn’t want me to come back.

This over priced«convenience» store is situated across the street from Anderson HS and I have seen many a student slip in and out when they were supposed to be at lunch on campus. Only seniors are allowed to leave. My own kid was there once and told me his teacher sent him. Big hah. And the devil sent me to bust you and you are grounded. It’s also one of my lottery ticket sources. There are two in NW Hills and this one is my favorite because the guy at the counter smiles and says«Good luck!» when I leave. His well wishes don’t do me any good. I’ve never even won $ 3 but I do think my time is coming. I can feel it. My lottery ticket story is about a guy I worked for who was director of a state agency. He was very political and tied to an elected official. He drove home to the Texas Panhandle one weekend where he bought a ticket. On the way back to Austin, he was overcome with guilt, fear or some such emotion. As he tells it, if he won it would make the elected official look bad and the general public might think the lottery was rigged. So, in his infinite wisdom, he stopped at 10 towns and bought the same numbers on a lottery ticket in each town so they could not trace him. Wait. What? If I’m missing something let me know but how does this make any difference? As someone who was completely under qualified for his job, his reasoning as a boss was usually doubtful as well. My apologies… I’m digressing… but…it does make me smile just a little to know that he was removed from the agency and is back in the Amarillo. Last I heard, he’s still not a millionaire.

Man, I miss the local guy behind the counter. I used to live right up the street and would walk down there and enjoy the company of all the locals coming in to paying way too much and loving every minute of it. As for the high schoolers, I remember a firmly implemented 2 high schooler at a time rule when I lived there. Whats happened to the world?

Ahh the local independent overpriced convenience store… Here is a local store where the guy behind the counter recognizes your face, your car and your drinking habits. I have spent some evenings talking with the guys there about other customers, vacation plans and great working class tall boy beers. Such is part of how humanity communicates. Indeed a trip into mesa Mart is not just some generic anonymous experience, but a rich perspective into an underrated untold corner of America’s finest excess of round the clock service. They have milk, mentos, coffee and tobacco, gummy bears. The coffee will settle your ship in a storm. The milk stays fresh as any generic milk. Lone Stars are still cheap, though slowly going up in price. I used to go here once a night and sample all of the working class beers of the world from Busch to Coors, to icehouse. It was good for that time. The one time to avoid the place is 8 – 9AM week days and 3 ish because ti gets kind of overrun with high schoolers. Of course if you happen to be a high Schooler, than go at those times and forge rich memories for a lifetime.
