Never would’ve guessed that this place actually makes good food(would’ve seen this place had it not been on Unilocal)…but it does! Very friendly service, great freshly made breakfast tacos! They’re substantive — bigger than most breakfast tacos on the run that I’ve had around austin. I’ll be back!

Best tacos and tamales in town. Barbacoa, chicken tamale, suizas & caldo de res. do it. Best salsa in town.

Best fajitas! Worth to wait for your food since there are only two ladies working in the back but your patience would be paid off!

I can only say that I have been here once, for breakfast tacos. They were adequate. I’d go back if it was convenient. That’s about all.(shrugs shoulders) Meh.

I used to LOVE their tamales. However, on more than one occasion it’s old tamales that they have re-heated. How do I know it’s old? It’s because the meat that stick out of the opening is all dry and crusty. It’s still good but I only want fresh tamales. So it’s hit or miss these days. Those chicken tacos are still good. It’s good for when I need breakfast tacos on the way to work also.

This it the perfect hole in the wall mexican dive. I have taken many people here that like what passes for mexican food here like Trudys. Everyone loves it so much more

Call ahead to make sure they are open(the business hours change) but this taco shack run by two sisters is amazing! The tamales are the best in town and the prices are crazy low. Yes, it is tucked away in a shamrock gas station but don’t let that throw you. Grab a beer and some tacos and enjoy yourself a badass, truly Mexican(not fatty TexMex) food.

I love this place! Is one of my favorites and is so close to my house, that’s so dangerous for me! The tamales are amazing! I would have given 4 stars because one of the ladies that take your order at the front is not very friendly at all, but it wouldn’t have been fair for the place itself to be rated by her and the place honestly is really god! Their salsa is awesome!

Not a lot of people know about this little restaurant because it’s tucked away inside the gas station but I gotta say they have really good food. The prices are not expensive at all and you can call ahead so they can get your order ready so you don’t have to wait. I normally get tacos which are very good but I have gotten the guaraches plate and that’s really good too.

I went there and had a Mexican hamburger which was recommended by one of the critics of the Austin Chronicle. While it was good, it was not as great as the critic made it out to be. At least not for me. I should have just stuck to ordering the Mexican food! The photos on the wall looked great and judging from the reviews here probably delicious. I will have to go back and try their gorditas, tacos, etc.

I had been living around the corner from this place for over a year, and didn’t know about them until a houseguest told me about«the taco stand inside the Shamrock gas station down the street». Now I go there 2 – 3 times a week, sometimes on my way to work, sometimes on my way to the park with my dog. The tacos and tamales are amazing, and cheap. The breakfast tacos especially are the best I’ve found in Austin, and they are amazingly fast, which is great if you’re picking up some food on the way to the office.

I just started coming here after moving to south Austin. They are pretty awesome for the prices and the salsa bar is amazing. I’ve tried the Carnitas, Barbacoa, potato egg cheese, and chorizo egg cheese. I enjoyed them all but especially the Carnitas and Barbacoa! I’ll probably be a regular now since they’re so close and I eat way too many tacos… sigh.

I have been a regular here for years, and have been putting off this review for too long. Their food is delightful, the employees are always very kind, and their big salsa bar is amazing. I have never tried anything I didn’t like, and the prices are so low!

Mi Ranchito is located in the back of a wee-bit-seedy C Mart at William Cannon and Pleasant Valley. They have really awesome and freshly made breakfast tacos allll day long! This is great! Oh, and they have a delicious and extensive salsa bar all the way down to pickled onions(bleh, but people like them). I love their spicy, creamy, green salsa the most. I’ve had tens and tens of their breakfast tacos, but I’ve only had their lunch a couple of times. However, the«pork in red sauce»(sounds better in spanish, actually) was really great and not expensive at all. The service is friendly and will accommodate both English and Spanish with a smile. Of course, if you’re thirsty you can choose from a pretty nice array of canned and bottled drinks. The selection is way better than a traditional convenience mart.

this is a humble traditional mexican restaurant, I love the pastor tacos. Friendly service and great for take out.

Gorditas are their specialty, but I usually stick with tacos so I can have different fillings. The best meats are the carnitas and the al pastor. But the camarones tostada is a nice change. Their salsa bar elevates everything up a notch. And they have Julio Cesar Chavez brand energy drink. Represent.

Buying some drinks the other day at this Diamond Shamrock I noticed Mi Ranchito and there sign on the wall«Breakfast Tacos served all day long!» I don’t need any more convincing than that. The ATX breakfast taco tour continues for me. These babies are big and stuffed full of meat and egg and cheese of your choice. The big selling point here and what sets it apart from other taco places is the vast selection of salsas! Several are super-spicy! And there are LARGE to go cups to put the salsas in. Taco Xpress. .. take a hint! Be aware that tacos are sometimes wrapped 2 to a wrapper in case they are going to different people. I’ll be back to try some Mexican food, but the hamburgers look interesting too! Photos of all dishes are up on the wall. The photos aren’t great(food photography is hard!), but you can see what you are ordering. Service is friendly, but cash only. ATM is inside Diamond Shamrock. There is plenty of seating and Mexican Coke is available

Humble, lovingly prepared Mexican and Tex-Mex food. These guys used to have a trailer in the parking lot. Now the kitchen and a few tables occupy half of the interior of the Shamrock(formerly C-mart) convenience store. I’ve had the beef fajita quesadillas and the potato/egg/cheese breakfast tacos. They are cooked to absolute perfection, on the griddle. A little greasy and a little crusty. It’s Mexican comfort food. The salsa bar offerings are tremendous. The pico de gallo is fresh and lightly dusted with black pepper and vinegar. The opaque green sauce has a fiery kick to it. There’s also this crazy orange hot sauce that tastes like it has peanut butter in it. They have fresh menudo all the time and more traditional interior Mexican dishes as well. The food is prepared with care and a sense of pride. Everything is fastidiously clean, and the people who run it are really nice and professional. Inspiring. (Bring cash. No credit/debit cards. Open 7am-11pm, 7 days a week.)
