I am mildly wheat sensitive and I have a number of Celiac suffering or gluten intolerant friends and acquaintances. As a result I have done the round of gluten free offerings available in the frozen shelves of HEB and Central Market, Whole Foods and Sprouts and so on. On the whole the offerings in this genre are characterized by an untenable density and are largely disappointing. I have bumped into Misty Morning’s products at Snack Bar, Strange Brew and Bouldin Creek Café and I am a converted believer. Their bread is BYFAR the finest entry into the gluten free genre that I have tried. It comes closest to approximating that texture and mouth-feel of a regular bread more-so than any other brand I have tried. At Strange Brew, their Biscotti truly impressed me. I have had far worse biscotti both domestically and imported all the way from Italy. And it wasn’t even gluten-free. I was very impressed with their craftsmanship and adherence to the traditional almond flavor. Their website lists all of the places that you can sample their food in a restaurant setting plus they will bake-to-order and deliver as well. So check these guys out if you’re avoiding wheat and looking for tasty alternatives.
