Mid December. 9 year old.
Comes in with complaint of chest hurting & stomach. Cough. Temp in the 99’s. Pink cheeks. Just returned from 4 days in Las Vegas, airplane travel.
Why wouldn’t a doctor want to run a flu test and strep? Makes no sense to me.
As mom, I requested the strep test & stood my ground. I didn’t want to make the drive and spend the money if it did turn strep– which requires prescription drugs to treat.
Strep can present so many random symptoms or so little at all. I’ve experienced it 1^st hand.
And flu, it’s running rapid!!! Come on! Why make a mom wonder & worry? What does it hurt to test & be sure?
We left with a «virus» diagnosis. And had a temp the following day of up to 103.4. Sure would have been nice to know if it was the flu.
Not pleased.
