I have bought many things at Mockingbird for my home and as gifts. I love this place. They recently made me an island for my kitchen to my exact design. It’s beautiful, unique and functionable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They knew by name by the third visit. It’s family owned and operated. They support local artist.

Here’s the crux of my issue with Mockingbird Domestics: While it definitely has some delightful home goods, and it’s a fun store to browse, the prices they’ve assigned most of their items feels way off. I support local craftspeople, but just because something is ‘hand-made’ does not automatically mean it was ‘well-made’. In that same vein, just because something is old does not always mean it’s valuable. Examples: A(poorly!) crocheted throw pillow: $ 120 Three pressed and framed ferns: $ 425 A basket of used dinner knives: $ 38/each Finally, as others have noted, the customer service is lacking. We were there 15 – 20 minutes, and we were the only people in the store besides two employees. Neither of them talked to us the entire time. A friendly smile and a howdy-do can go a long way in softening negative impressions. Come to think of it, a pleasant interaction with a salesperson probably would have dissuaded me from even writing this review.

Terrible customer service. Nobody said hi the entire time we were in there. We looked around for 20 minutes and nothing. Extremely rude.

Why would no one greet us today when there are 3 people working in this store and not one of them said hello or good bye or ask if they could they help us! We were there over 15 mins. Retailers are wondering why they are having problems. Look in the mirror Mockingbird.

Mockingbird Domestics TOTALLY exceeded my expectations with their level of customer service and quality of art and furniture. I called them hoping to get just a few pieces for my new home as I’m out of town and desperately trying to pull all my furniture together from afar. Laura, the owner, went by my home and helped my husband put the house together with a bunch of their pieces to complement the style we already had going. The result is gorgeous and totally Austin. I’m so grateful to have found this little gem and look forward to doing more shopping in person when I finally get into town!

I was blown away when I first walked into Mockingbird… couldn’t believe that I hadn’t heard of it before. The owners are super friendly and have fantastic taste –they balance funk and function seemingly effortlessly. Honestly its like walking into ETSY if there were an ETSY store. I love that they support local craftsmen and artists, have their own furniture line, and sell all manner of one-of-a-kind treasures. I want my house to look like Mockingbird.

This is an awesome shop. It’s locally owned and features local artists’ work. They have amazing handmade furniture and one-of-a-kind gifts and housewares. The people are really sweet there too. This is a FUN place to explore and shop for cool and unique treasures.

Mockingbird stocks a variety of home furnishings made by(predominately) Austin-area artists. It’s a family-owned business that offers really friendly and knowledgable service. I bought a bench made by Michael Yates recently at Mockingbird Domestics. Although it was definitely a bit more than what you might find at Rooms and More et al, the quality and beauty of Yate’s work will last decades longer than the imported stuff(junk?) one finds. You can find modern to more traditional items at Mockingbird. I’ll be back…
