I pretty much, out of boredom, suckered myself into walking over to this shop expecting your typical tourist trap junk shop. Was I wrong! The owner was one of the most interesting and informative people I met on my big Nevada road trip. He told me all about the history of Austin, some of the surrounding towns, explained all about bottle hunting(some of them millionaires!), gems, and what the best maps and books for ghost town exploring are. I stayed in this store for about 45 minutes. He even had some original, NEVER washed glassware with the Muppets, ET, Star Wars, etc. You know the ones they used to sell at McDonalds back in the 1980’s? They were 50% off, so what a bargain(for my sister who loves this stuff). I also bought a map of Nevada’s Ghost Towns from the 1800’s when they were still active AND a recreational Nevada road map(current) that really went into detail on all the side roads I was passing while driving through the gorgeous Nevada. The owner is the real deal — he still actively hunts for mines and bottles.
