My 14yo son has been a student at the New School for about a year and a half now in their jazz program, and he truly enjoys it. He began as a guitarist but moved over to bass, and thanks to Evan Nicholson, the Associate Director (a professional bassist himself), he’s gained a new love and appreciation for the instrument. He’s even learning the upright! Evan has been incredibly supportive to my son and his bandmates, and through him they’ve become an extremely tight, confident, and well rounded. Evan is an excellent teacher, and he teaches theory too, which is something I appreciate. I highly recommend them.

The New School of Music has a quality program with a supportive and comfortable atmosphere and talented teachers. My 15 year old son has been a student at the New School of Music for over a year and loves his Jazz Combo class! The associate director, Evan Nicholson, has been a fantastic mentor and teacher. In addition to being a professional musician, he is a gifted teacher and shows true interest in the students learning and success. Besides all that –the students have fun too! I am so glad we found this music school. I wish them much success!
